Pastebin Monday (02/13/17)

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these seriously lol.


I’m pretty okay recently. I’ve barely been playing video games but I’ve been busy trying to go back to college and find a job that isn’t a dead end and will give relevant experience to teaching. I didn’t do anything with my life last year besides make money and I want to move forward to real goals.

Speaking of goals, the plan for speedruns is to focus on DMC4:SE and System Shock. My Nero/Dante PB got beaten (this time legitimately) and I want to get it back. System Shock has been on hold for a while, but I really want to get back to running it. I’m 20 seconds off the WR but I’ve been optimizing the route and have found some new timesaves that should make the WR grind easier. After I beat FearfulFerret, I want to plan out a let’s play for SS1 in the vein of MikeKob’s God Hand LPs. This means that I go into heavy detail about the game mechanics, the dev history, and a bunch of other things, all while staying kinda goofy.

Planning for Combo Rush (that action game speedrun marathon) is going pretty well. I’ve had to reach out to a number of people individually to get them to submit but that’s to be expected when a lot of these runners are lone wolfs. So far I’ve gotten Mega Man X (1-6), a few odd action games, and 6 games that actually count as Cuhrayzee. Lurk says that I’ll probably be able to use the NASA Twitch channel for the stream and the crew might help restream, which will be cool. The think I’m really excited for though is the intermissions. I’m going to have stylish combo videos playing during these times. Some players have contacted me with stuff they want in but I’ve had to ask most for content I can use. Thankfully, everyone I’ve asked who has gotten back to me is super excited to be asked and has given me their best footage to use. The combo videos are a little DMC4:SE heavy but that’s to be expected.

For action games in general, I want to make 2017 the year I get better at a lot of them. I’m okay at DMC3 and DMC4, but my Bayonetta, God Hand, and Fairy Bloom Freesia play is mediocre, and I want to improve to the point where I can do a proper VST Traditional entry.

After the AGDQ2017 debacle, I realized that there are actually a lot of people in the community who dislike me for whatever reasons. A lot of it is blind hate or because of my association to Cyberdemon531, but for the cases that aren’t, I want to get to know why these people don’t like me and try to better myself. I hang out with a lot of shitters (and am kinda one myself) but if you’re going to hate me for pretty much no reason, I want to know why.

I keep on looking for a new speedgame to play, but I know that unless I end up running something naturally (as in play it and then route it), I’m going to end up frustrated and likely quit (like with System Shock 2, Toy Story 2, Gimmick!, Bomberman 64, Twilight Princess, DK64).

AGDQ2017 feedback thread is up, but we’re not allowed to talk about me and Cyberdemon531 getting banned or staff budget, so it’s pointless. I’m still mad about the ban from the event, but I also just want to put it behind me. People will see eventually that GDQs aren’t wholesome. That, or it’ll end up becoming a convention and get bigger than ever. Who knows.

I’m excited for NASA 2017. Getting to Canada is going to be a bitch, but I’ve submitted games I actually want to run (DMC4:SE, No More Heroes, SS1, and Doshin) and unlike GDQs where I meet 20% of the people I want to see and also a hundred unrelated people, it’ll be a core group of people who actually speedrun and that I know.
