Bayezid: Magus Casting Techniques Lesson - Runecasting II [SOLO]

[11:53] The boy found himself engrossed with the text, careful not to cast magic towards any of the runes within the tome. It seemed fairly straightforward! If he knew the language, or could refer back to it somehow -- preferably through memory -- and knew his intent? He could create runes that described the intent. So long as it did that exactly? It would work exactly as intended..

One major issue: He had no idea what any of those runes were... Thus, it had to do some studying. Of course, he'd never manage to write a rune at all, if he didn't commit to the basics first. While the book remained splayed open before him, he crossed his legs, rested his arms within his lap, and allowed his head to fall lax.

A deep sigh eased him whole, and he could relax on this serene location.
The subtle coo of the midnight air whistling by sought to demand shivers from the Gazi -- and try all it might, it would never get its due.
That sensation within revealed it all to him once more...
The circuitry that scoured throughout him whole. Little did he know, this was Visionary Casting -- his eyes were simply closed, enabling sight over his own anatomic circuitry.

"Yes... I feel it now. Truly, it all makes... Sense..."
It radiated through the pores of his skin, cloaking over him -- faintly but present. Slowly, his eyes opened, briefly flaring up with the shine of sapphire - subsiding swiftly afterwards. It was only residual now, enabling to raise his arm up from where he sat. His eyes shifted over to gaze upon the open book, taking into account the first rune amongst the many.
"Fire..."
He was careful...
Slow...
Carrying out the motions in a methodology that sought not to suffering the consequences of failure. Surely, if this were a battle? He'd be dead tens of times over by now. Thankfully, it wasn't.
Alas, the floating rune for [FIRE] was drafted forth!
However, he... Didn't exactly know any other runes, at least nothing too grand.

Perhaps, he could try and replicate what Asyi preformed?! Naw, he could do better than that! After all, he was supposed to be the Clawbearer of the Gazi Bloodline! He had trained himself harder than any other magi he had met thus far! He could take it!

Thus, he started on his attempt to carry on, as he flipped pages with his unoccupied hand. "Heat..." He spoke aloud as he slowly tried to replicate the second character. So far, it was coming together -- nothing too strange as of yet. The ink that was his mana proved deep enough, and the runes shined -- brimming in readiness for their invocation. It was... Coming together.

"Alright... Too easy!" He declared aloud.
That was two down...
The next would be-- "Gentle?" His brows furrowed, "Nah, I'm going to go with something more intense... How about 'Rage'!" Unfortunately, he wasn't totally certain how to do that... Thus, what should've taken the place of 'Gentle' appeared to be an angelic neologism -- a meaningless glyph of the boy's own design, quaking in its place amongst the other characters. The sentence's purpose had shifted for the unknown, and such was already beyond the poor Gazi without their knowledge.

There was some thought with the last character, but of course -- childish callousness sought to claim a better grasp on things than they truly bore. "Why would I need -two- characters to describe the temperature? We already have 'Heat', no need for 'Warmth'."
The characters were seemingly unstable now, glitching about in their sequence before his hand reached out to pour mana within them -- to invoke the spell.

A winding sound irked at his ears, and with the slight widening of his eyes he managed to come to a startling realization within the instant disaster sought to strike.His heart sank, his ignorance was bound to be his undoing, and in that moment he kicked the book to force distance between his conjuration and it... Before making a dive for cover himself.

It briefly lit up the immediate scape, omitting shadows aside from his own and the trees on the horizon. The alabaster that shortly conquered the scene, found itself engulfed in swirling leaflets of Aurelian and saffron. Its blanketing combover cast forth a shockwave that sought to launch the boy to the ground meters away, igniting the area he previously took for a meditative stance ablaze.

The shine of the flame reflected in his hues, but not without the smell of smoke wrinkling his nose. He did -not- make it away unscathed, for this apparel turned out to have caught ablaze.
Already on the ground, the boy rolled back and forth, screaming throughout -- less so in pain, and moreso in shock and fear.

One thing was certain...
He'd consider sticking to the basics for thetime being...
Until he could confidently prevent from blowing himself up.

Failure was an amazing teacher -- and it taught Bayezid well as it had all of his years. Though, it never stopped him in the past... It certainly wasn't going to stop him now.
Burned, he picked himself back up dusting himself off somewhat.
"I'll see a doctor when I'm done." He claimed to himself.
Maybe he'd get an infection but... Magi were supposed to be resilient against those sort've things, right? Surely, he'd just heal slower.

Upon the scorched earth, he'd sit himself down once more -- after having recollected the book. Instead of attempting to cast the magics, he'd simply retrace the symbols. That's all he had to do after all: Memorize the runes.
Once he could do that? The practice would come much more seamlessly -- with less guesswork in the other characters that'd follow.


[FIRE]
The mark was carved through the charred earth. Dug through with a burnt finger clawing through the soil. Again, and again...
It ached...

It felt like the skin was being tested to its limitations -- yet he refused to see himself falter.

Was this punishment? Some sort of sick means of making himself realize the error of his ways? To beat out that audacious razuka within? The punk that sought to declare himself above the world? The same boy that wanted so dearly to repay the world for its ills committed against him?
He had to keep it in check -- recollecting that morbid fortune he received from that woman so long ago.

"Fire..." He said aloud to himself...
Over... And over again...
Had it been solid minutes? Hours even...
By now, the space around his original spot had grown saturated with finger carvings of the rune.

To an observer after the fact, it would come across as the musings of a madman... And with the boy's gaze upon his work, he fought back a pain that demanded tears. Was it for his failure? Was it for the burn? Surely, not even he knew...

But with blood pooling at his finger tip, he turned his back on it... Book tucked under his burnt arm, and proceeded to walk away.

"I think... It'll stick..." He muttered to himself.
A sense of self-loathing hung close to him, trying all so desperately behind this 'mask' to bury his anger and spite... Yet in moments like this, it sought to crack through.

"I won't be behind forever."
