  18. 5 - Again Sitemaps intended to be given to search engines for pages which cannot be ordinarily included in the normal crawling process.
  19. My Final Thoughts on Sitemaps. They are really good way to notify search engines with your content. But, if you are an expert with its successful execution and its side effects go with it. Other wise submit your website only.
  20. [Real Case Study]
  21. Case #1
  22. Me and My friend running a website for People information search bankruptcy and so on. Its a custom made website, when he made a sitemap and submitted it to Google. The pages indexed in Google dropped from 500 Page in the First two days to 20 page. We ran some enhancements and we removed the sitemap And we submitted it again, within hours it indexed 300 Pages.
  23. However, this website has more than 1 Million people' info and every page is unique in terms of Title, meta desc and so.
  24. Case #2
  25. I was building a movies website on Local host I finished it with 20K Movie and Decent number of TV Shows. Then I migrated to live server I Created my Sitemap and submitted it to Google. Then two days Later i found 20k excluded from indexing. I felt a little disappointed and I ran a small experiment, which was to pick a random URL from those excluded URLS. T
  26. Then I inspected that URL with the new GWT tool and the result was a surprise.
  27. "That this URL has no problem, indexable and no any shit with it"
  28. So, I just told myself wtf is wrong with this retarded Google to index my website. And I did the same with that website. And It began to index more and more URLS.
  29. I wrote this because no one deserve to feel disappointed about his effort, work and putting all the focus in his website. To find the final result in not being indexed for Days. The problem not with content or anything. Its how you play it with Google
  30. Thanks for your time.

  50. Interesting experiment. Have been wondering about the efficiency of sitemaps for a long time.
  51. Completely agree with you. I have submitted the sitemap for my website and since then the sitemap was automatically updated every second day showing "Pending" status where I can find that out of 200 pages only 9 was indexed. Then I have to wait a few more days until I get 200 pages indexed. During that time the traffic almost completely stopped. And the circle starts again and again.
  52. I can't agree more with this. I even went a little farther than removing my sitemap. I deactivated the SEO plugin I used on my site altogether, and since then I noticed a considerable increase in the number of indexed pages.
  53. Yeah sitemaps are overrated for 90% of sites. I really only recommend having them if the site has 100,000+ pages or is really poorly interlinked. But, shitty SEOs like pushing them because most clients don't know any better, and it's an "easy win" for them.
  54. If I have already submitted my sitemap for a new site, should I remove it while I still can?
  55. No reason to remove a sitemap, really. They don't do any harm, just don't put too much effort into them unless your site is huge.
  56. One thing to watch out for though, is to make sure any pages with the "noindex" meta robots are taken off the sitemap.
  57. This also happens to me. At first i had 2000 pages indexed, within time it dropped to 400 and it continues to drop. What should i do?
  58. Check your search console for any errors, or for "crawled but not indexed"
  59. Never seen anyone do this experiment before...good perspective!
  60. there is a lot of "crawled but not indexed" so do you think these are ever going to index?
  61. Probably not, at least not with some major changes. Google can choose not to index duplicate or low quality content.
  62. What shall i do then?
  63. Create better content.
  64. so basically sitemap is B..S oh boy i did not know this thanks for sharing this
  65. Not completely. It has it's time and place.
