2. In response, I had to take it to PMs because the coward locked the thread. So I'm keeping a public copy here.

 6.
HF has and always will be fully co-operational with any law agencies.
7. Yes but not having logs to begin with isn't the same as not cooperating. It's cutting the bullshit out of your operational policies. Instead of "Oh sure, we have logs from 11 months ago, Mr. Federal Agent" you go, "You have a one-week window to subpoena us for logs."
 8.
Bigger rappart? HF is the biggest hacking forum on the Internet.
9. I said better, not bigger. Quality over quantity.
 10.
This is a legal business which supplies a safe and secure community for people to learn and socialise online with people who have similar interests.
11. It's not very safe or secure if, when you guys get hacked, everyone's IP addresses are ripe for the plucking.

 16. 1. This will just cause issues for Omni.
 17. 2. Well HF is the biggest thus the most well known.
 18. 3. No site is 100% secure.

 21. 1. Really? I don't see how that could cause issues. According to the EFF's yearly reports, ISPs like Sonic.net keep logs for only two weeks. I'm sure the staff could find a reasonable length of time that would fit law enforcement needs without leaving data around forever. If you need evidence of potential abuse, just search for hackforums.db on doxbin and you'll see that the risk is very real.

 23. 2. Having your name known and being liked are two very different concepts. Please consider what would make the user-base happier and gain credibility with the community. Remember: The community is disparate and nobody owns the entire hacker community. :)

 25. 3. Yes, but keeping less data for attackers to use is a step in the right direction to protecting your users more. I believe it's the right thing to do, within reason.
 26.
 27. That said, I'm all in favor of law enforcement doing their job and most of the people who get arrested on HF deserve it. (Like the carders.org bust a while back.) I just worry about all this data being collected and possibly being harvested by criminals or corrupt government officials.
