  1. im going to dispute some of your points
  2. "they have not released information about the discount/ its too early to make assumptions" this is a typical apologist response. more is coming we dont know blah blah blah. the second i learned that skyrim special edition was coming out i learned that pc players were getting it for free. this is not excusable. dark souls remastered is coming out on pc. on steam the same day as the console versions are out. namco has said nothing to contradict that point. the press coverage still states it will be on the 25th of may. they have no reason to hide that information. why would they not tell pc players who own the game they will be getting a discount or a free upgrade? the only reason to hide the pricing on pc is because they don't want to tell us that we arent getting a discount. because they KNOW everybody on pc will respond to that. negatively. why would they hide good news from us? why would they not tell us something that would make the pc playerbase happy? thats free publicity, and its good publicity at that. a competent marketing team would be bragging to every news site about how the pc playerbase is getting a discount if they owned the game or getting it free. bethesda sure did , and look at how that turned out. very good. i was happy about that. so happy i went and bought the dlc for my little brother so that he could get the upgrade as well. the only reason to hide something like pricing from us is to minimize the damage when the backlash is fully realized. until then they are more than happy to tip toe around that issue and let people like you white knight for them and prevent dissent until its nice and close to release when people have already pre-ordered on console and they have not seen any negative press or community talk about the game.

  4. "dark souls remastered is for a new demographic" this is an invalid point. and does not really address the biggest criticisms. the original game still exists for far cheaper and can be easily brought up to modern standards of 60fps with improved textures *on pc* its still a terrible value. in addition to this if its meant for a new demographic then why are they marketing it as a "return to lordran"? from the dark souls remastered website "Re-experience the critically acclaimed, genre-defining game that started it all." why are they not airing commercials and advertising the game online? getting the dark souls name out there for people who are unaware of the series. the only way to really know about dark souls remastered right now is to already know about dark souls. and im not talking about the dedicated "hardcore" gaming community, im talking about the avg joe gamers out there who arent big into games and follow game news. i've hardly seen any promotion of the game so far that doesn't appeal to people who already have played dark souls. you cannot be more right than the people who are invovled with making the game themselves. and if they are pushing this game with "Re-experience the critically acclaimed, genre-defining game that started it all. " as the very first sentence on the page it definately means they are pushing us existing fans who have already played ds I to buy it.

  6. "the servers will revitilize the game/everything will be alive again" this doesnt mean the game will be better. and im going to state that dark souls 3 the newest game in the franchise still has horrible lag problems for so many people that there is already legitimate reason to doubt that dark souls remastered is going to fare any better. also another point return to lordran is a community event that has been happening for years now. its already possible to experience that alive feeling game. but im not going to argue that point too much. since you are still right. the pc version of the game doesnt have the playerbase that dark souls 3 does. however taking that steam statistic is not accurate to how many people are going to even be interested in this game. tons of people bought the game played through it and didnt like it or just never picked it up again. we cannot say that the numbers of ds III at its peek or even its current will show up for ds I remastered there is no real non technical reason to paygate off all like 2000 ish of us playing dsI on pc from whatever the numbers will be for remaster. why cant namco just upgrade the 2000 people on pc for free? we bought the game already. they can simply have pre existing owners at least get a discount which they have not announced anything yet despite it being just over a month to release.

  10. "its an early build/ don't judge it yet" if the game is truly in an unfinished state, if the game is going to be improved SO much, why show it so early in development? why let people play it now? why not wait until the game is much more substantial?
  11.
  12. and also. come on man. give me a fucking break. it comes out next month. do you honestly believe that they are going to have made such big improvements so close to release? this isn't the time to be improving visuals, and adding substantial things. its the time to be ironing out the final details of the game. we have less than what 40 days left? this is the time when they start producing discs. not when they are changing things like adding improved graphics. there is absolutely no time to add new graphics, test the games performance to make sure the graphics dont wreck anything, apply bugfixes. and then prepare the assembly line, start making the game discs, and all that stuff including the two weeks plus needed for shipping the game out to stores. the gameplay demo's came out last week. there is no time to make any substantial graphical updates. and if there was then again: this is incredibly poor marketing on namco's part. why would they show us the game in such an unrefined state? this is a remaster. not a new game.
  13. showing us what amounts to looking like the original pretty much on pc with high settings is not showing us anything new. we have already played this. and again directly from the namco website for the game "Re-experience the critically acclaimed, genre-defining game that started it all." this demo shows us nothing that we havent already seen. it doesnt show us any substantial improvements in graphics, and again we havent seen anything about the pc version. its not even on steam yet ffs.
  14. i dont care about the last of us remastered. its an entirely different game. you cannot just say that every remastered game is going to go through the same development cycle as the last of us. especially on what amounts to a single quote from a developer. "looked broken up" is pretty subjective. we dont know how bad it was or anything relating to that. then again i guess thats why the devs over at naughty dog werent letting people just play the game when it was in such an unfinished state. like namco should have done if dark souls remastered is in such a rough state relative to what its going to be like in 3 weeks when they are already shipping the game.
  15. "we have to wait and see if the graphics are improved in the later sections of the game" why would there be any reason to expect that later areas just look better? why would namco SPECIFICALLY not allow any footage or gameplay beyond the beginning areas if it all looks so much better? if the beginning areas look like this and we are roughly 3 weeks to the games shipping out to stores why should we have any expectation that the later area's of the game look better? you are contradicting yourself here. if the game is in an early build which was shown last week then how are we going to see all these improvements made to the entire game AND the dlc? thats alot of work. and again. i dont care about your specific example with the last of us. even a broken clock is right twice per day it doesnt mean that every game studio is going to be able to pull off what naughty dog may have done. in addition this is being developed by 4 different studios. we cant just be guarenteed that the game will see rapid improvement when its a provable fact that communication issues can hinder a games development. and im not saying that it will. but that is definitely not going to help the chances.
  16. also ill state this again. why would namco hide good publicity? if the game is so amazing why not show us that? why show us the worst part of the game if everything else is so much better? its a pre existing game.
  17. and as for your question. ill answer it with another question: have you ever heard of the "no true scotsman fallacy"? in fact i am just as valid in saying that because you are white knighting for from and namco that you are not being a true fan of the game. i am not going to buy this game because i expect better than the treatment that i am getting as a pc player. and i love ds I and want the remaster to improve it. i would love a better DS. and thats why i am critical. you dont really care about dark souls remastered because you are making excuses and letting it be a potentially mediocre product by doing so. see I can be just as dismissive of your view. I am being just as much of a disingenuous asshole as you are being by asking me that question. attacking your character by calling into question how much of a dark souls fan you are. you dont know me. you dont know anybody criticizing this game(speaking generally of course) what right do you have saying we are not dark souls fans? what because you make videos and we dont? that has nothing to do with dark souls. you are a content creator. its your job to make content. it doesn't mean you have some authority over non content creator fans. we all pay money for the game and play the games. we all have a right to voice concerns over a game. and showing the obvious troll/asshole comments and acting like we are all like that if we criticize the game is just being dishonest, and frankly its made me lose some respect for you.
