- There are several rules that apply to this tournament.
- Team submissions must be sent to discord: monoguyvp as a screenshot of each of your team's party members. You are welcome to resubmit as many times with any updates (from minor adjustments to full on type switching) as you want until the application period ends, you must join the tourney dedicated server by following this link https://discord.gg/kXygpz9nqx
- (1). Participants register and use only 6 Pokémon for the entire tournament. The 6 Pokemon must share one common type, allocated by the trainer. No changes are permitted for your team once the tournament begins, this includes moves, held items, and EVs.
- (2). Legendary and Mythical Pokémon are unable to participate in this tournament. No exceptions.
- (3). Your entire team must share a common type in their base form, regardless of type changes upon mega evolving. No exceptions. (ex. Mega Aggron IS allowed in a mono Rock team, Mega Pinsir IS NOT allowed in a mono Flying team)
- (4). Matches are standard Singles battles, 1v1 player VS player matches, using Normal rules (3 Pokemon, no duplicate Pokemon or items) best of 3 matches, on the Pokemon Legends ZA game carts, NO SIMULATORS.
- (5). If a player avoids engaging for the majority of the match with the clear intention of running down the timer (ex: repeatedly running away after getting 1–2 KOs), it may be considered stalling. Normal strategic movement — like repositioning or using mobility to maintain an advantage — does not count as stalling. If you feel your opponent is intentionally avoiding all combat for most of the game, report it so the match can be reviewed and potentially redone, ideally you should be able to score 3 to 4 kills per match.
- (6). Frequent disconnects by a challenger may result in disqualification, or may be penalized with a single elimination.
- (7). If your match doesn't get played in time, it will result in a loss for both players. After several tournaments it has been decided that there is absolutely no flexibility on battles not being played. If you can provide some evidence of contact more than once you'll be given a pass. If you can’t organize 10-20 minutes with your partner in a week you are likely to continue to do this throughout the tournament. Appropriate scores will be assigned to these players based on the situation.
- (8). You will need to ensure that you get a screenshot of the match results and are able to upload it onto discord to validate the results of your match.
- (9). No moveset changes allowed, once you register your team, it is locked and you cannot change moves, EVs, or items.
- (10). If some sort of dispute occurs, you should bring it up with Monoguy on discord. (monoguyvp)
- The tourney follows a double-elimination format. If you lose against two different participants, you're eliminated. There are winners and losers groups, and you progress through them in a bracket. Matches will be randomly generated this time, so expect to face unfair matchups, this is where good teambuilding comes in play. The top 8 participants with the highest placements and scores earn a gym spot for the upcoming gym challenge, which begins immediately after the tournament crowns a winner.
- TOURNEY WILL KICK OFF JANUARY 9
