Q. What makes KH2 J different from KH2 English?

A. -Group Trinity is glitched, making it extremely powerful. This is the difference that matters most in a speedrun, as it allows you to defeat some bosses extremely quickly. Also, the final hit of Group Trinity does a bit more damage than in other versions.
-Solo Trinity and Reflect are both weaker, with reflect dealing so little damage it's now a purely defensive move. These abilities being weak makes final bosses annoying as we don't have access to group trinity.
-Some bosses have less HP, notably Twin Lords and Hostile Program.
-Some bosses have other minor things changed about them, notably Prison Keepers invincibility between phases works differently.
-The Station Plaza fight ends after you land around 10 hits, meaning it ends really quickly but you end up underleveled.
-RCs done at the end of fights (Such as Minnie's "Finish" Command) tend to deal massive damage instead of doing nothing. This makes up for being underleveled early on.


Q. What is the Group Trinity glitch?

A. Group Trinity normally works by building up a combo using the 3 commands(Break, Ultima, Major Drive) to build up hits, and then deal those hits as damage when you use the Begin Combo command. In KH2 J that is still how it works, but once you use it once and set a "Max Hit(or Max Combo)" with it, any subsequent use will deal at least as many hits as your "Max Hit". However, you can still increase that "Max Hit" and therefore increase your damage. In Timeless River, it is possible to reach a "Max Hit" of over 500, which is enough to 1-shot several bosses. Unfortunately, reaching that high of a hit count is pretty random.

Q. Then, do you need at least 500 hits to finish a run?

A. Well, anything over 450 can make a decent run, but preferably I at least make it past 500 yes.

Q. Is this faster than the English version?

A. Overall, yes, although some parts will be slower.

Q. Why is the english record so much faster then?

A. Because this game simply hasn't been optimized nearly as much.
