- AUNT AGNES’ GINGERBREAD COOKIES
- 1/3 c butter
- 1/3 c brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c molasses
- 2&3/4c flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ginger
- Mix as usual. Chill dough.
- Roll to 1/4 inch then cut as desired.
- Bake at 350F for about 10 minutes, they are better undercooked than overcooked
- Let sit on cookie sheet for a few minutes before you move them.
- ICING
- 2 c icing suger
- 2 Tbl butter
- 1 egg white
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- NOTES:
- These bring back all of my wonderful Christmas memories.
- I double the spices
- Increase the recipe and use it for gingerbread houses
- Decorate some with blue icing and think of my Aunt Agnes who would let me run to the cupboard and grab these from the cookie tin. I always looked for the blue ones.
