- After the grisly murder of one of his employees, senior manager of the local Glenview Costco store, Evan, decides to take action, forming a neighbourhood watch consisted of the fellow suburbanites and residents, Bob, Franklin, and Jamarcus. Not exactly police material, the unlikely band of hopeful protectors of justice in their fancy new jackets will soon have to deal with the unexpected when mysterious traces of a translucent green goo lead to the conclusion that earth is under an extraterrestrial threat. So, you'd better shape up boys, because, whether you like it or not, you're humanity's last chance. But, are Evan and the guys up to the job?
- In Glenview, Ohio, Evan is the manager of the Costco department store and married to Abby. When the Costco night watchman, Antonio Guzman, is mysteriously murdered, Evan organizes The Neighborhood Watch, a watch team with his suburban neighbors Bob, Franklin and Jamarcus to protect the neighborhood and find the killer of Antonio. Soon they discover that the murderer is an alien that is preparing to invade Earth, and they become the last hope of mankind on Earth.
- I honestly was preparing to watch this movie and about to bag the you no what out of it, however it wasn't that bad. Of course it was a far fetch movie ( I mean aliens who are about to take over the world, and start in a small town in a cost mos store, I mean come on! ), but it was an 'OK' funny movie. I thought the character Ben Stiller played in the movie is a character hes played in a lot in his most recent movies, I like the character he plays in movies like DodgeBall, and Zoolander. Hes too serious in this movie. Vince Vaughn character was the funniest to me. Jonah Hill played a good part as well, and also the other guy who I have never herd before was OK as well. This movie was a good one to watch when you feel down and need a stupid comedy to cheer you up. Its not my top 250 but its also not my bottom 250.
- The Watch (2012) <br/><br/>** (out of 4) <br/><br/>Disappointing comedy has Evan (Ben Stiller) former a neighborhood watch group consisting of three other guys (Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, Richard Ayoade) after his friend is murdered. At first the group thinks they're going after a murderer but they soon realize that they're up against aliens. THE WATCH has quite a few laughs scattered throughout it but when you've got Stiller, Vaughn and Hill you expect much more and in this end this film just doesn't live up to much. It's really too bad that the screenplay wasn't better developed because there's a good movie scattered throughout here but there are just way too many lazy moments and scenes that just add up to nothing. It really seems like someone just came up with the idea of a bunch of misfits going after aliens but they didn't add anything extra. There's really not enough going on here to keep you entertained and once the secret of who's doing the killing is out the film doesn't go anywhere with it. Still, there are some very funny gags here along the way. I think the best moments are when the guys are just kicking back and having some fun like the sequence where they start to party with a dead alien. Stiller, Vaughn and Hill do what they can with the material and they certainly give it more laughs than it deserved but at the same time none of them deliver their best work. Rosemarie DeWitt is wasted in her supporting role as is Will Forte. THE WATCH contains some big laughs but just not enough to make the film worth sitting through. It's far from a bad movie but it's still very disappointing.
