[11:03 PM] kitten: like for the record, here, digimon: tamers is oen of my favorite things on planet earth and i just recently watched it again with two friends
[11:03 PM] kitten: and for the first like dozen episodes i cried -every single episode- because of how authentic takato is a scared, but kind-hearted kid
[11:04 PM] kitten: he acts very much like how a kid does. i find him infinitely empathetic

[11:05 PM] kitten: it feels like an adult's idea of the most horrible and unlikable elements of a child, only the show's narrative tries to position it as such that you're actually a bad person for not liking that?
[11:05 PM] kitten: the show features an adult that mistreats and gets angry with renton constantly and he's portrayed antagonistically or way in the wrong
[11:06 PM] kitten: and it feels liek the entire show's premise is that kids are the future, trust kids, kids are cool, let kids take charge and be important
[11:06 PM] kitten: but it does this by using the worst child character ever created and suggesting you're some kind of inconsiderate monster for empathizing with the adult in the show who loathes him
