While the Parr family has accepted its collective calling as superheroes, the fact remains that their special heroism is still illegal. After they are arrested after unsuccessfully trying to stop the Underminer, their future seems bleak. However, the wealthy Deavor siblings of Devtech offer new hope with a bold project to rehabilitate the public image and legal status of Supers, with Elastigirl being assigned on point to be the shining example. Now having agreed for now to stay at home to care of the kids, Mr. Incredible finds domestic life a daunting challenge, especially with baby Jack-Jack's newly emerged powers making him almost impossible to manage. However, Elastigirl soon has her own concerns dealing with the menace of a new supervillain, Screenslaver, who is wreaking havoc with his mind control abilities. Now, Elastigirl must solve the mystery of this enemy, who has malevolent designs on the world with the Parr family and friends key targets of this evil.
After the events of The Incredibles (2004), Elastigirl (Helen) is sent on a mission to make supers legal again. Mr. Incredible (Bob) is left to care for Jack-Jack, Violet, and Dash. When a dangerous new threat arises, it is up to the family to neutralize the threat and save the day once again.
Maybe not quite as good as the original, but still a lot of fun and just as well as they appear to be setting up a franchise (another one). It looks great of course, it's well written, lots of snappy action. The comedy is quite quirky though, aimed as much if not more so at the adults than the kids. Disney are clearly putting their moral stamp on things, equally opportunities, digital dependence, accepting all cultures, but hey that's all very good and it's delivered well. Certainly our kids got the message and were happy to explain it to me as the credits rolled. They also laughed uncontrollably at Jack-Jacks antics, we all did! Not quite Pixar at its very best, but very very close!
It's been 14 years since the last Incredibles and this movie holds up to the hype. Overall a good superhero movie in a time where superhero movies are being released every other month. Packed with laugh out loud moments, the discovery of Jack Jack's powers are pretty hilarious. There isn't much time that passes from the original film, so there isn't much character progression, but just enough time changes where the world around them does. I would recommend this movie for all ages since it hits several generations. I would still say the first Incredibles is better, and I wouldn't put this in my top ten Disney films, but it is worth your time to watch. I gave this movie 7 out of 10, but that is a very modest rating.
From a certain angle, Incredibles 2 looks a little too slavish to creaky conventions.
