- King Sigmayne:
- Gleeful and naive, almost like a spoiled child in some respects
- Passes off all responsibilities to others
- Feels like happiness and pleasure are the most important things in life
- Gets extremely agitated when things don’t go the way he likes
- Some were angered by Sigmayne because of him flagrantly knighting “random” people who were at the right place at the right time. Normally knighthood is only given to those who serve decades in Kingdom guard.
- Around 60-70 years old
- Found at his palace in Evermore
- ---------------------------------------------
- {Horustair told me that the king has a reward for me?}
- Yes, our bishop relayed the message that your actions, along with your cohorts, had halted the advance of a powerful daedric entity from invading.
- For such a rare event as this to occur, should call for an even rarer opportunity to award a knighthood.
- Although your shoulders have already carried the burden of an entire town, I am sure they can carry the unparalleled importance of being a Knight.
- {I can hold that responsibility. }
- Thousands of men would murder for a chance of knighthood without having to endure decades in my guard. Do not take this reward for granted.
- Any acts you commit from here on will be a reflection of my judgement, and so any ill deeds you commit will stain the Kingdom of Evermore.
- Further, Any good you bring will help the reputation of Evermore throughout High Rock and beyond.
- The peasantry will be forced to respect you, the nobility will accept you as an equal. With time - after having ingratiated yourself within our established class - you may help steer this kingdom with me.
- If you recite the Knight's sacred oath. Are you ready to speak the words that only the most valorous have uttered?
- {Yes, I will take the oath.}
- Very well, I shall start.
- Revere the Nine and maintain their temples, serve the King in valor and faith
- {"Revere the nine and maintain their temples, serve the king in valor and faith"}
- To protect the weak and defenseless, To give succor to widows and orphans
- {"To protect the weak and defenseless, To give succor to widows and orphans"}
- To obey those placed in authority, To guard the honor of fellow knights.
- {"To obey those placed in authority, To guard the honor of fellow knights."}
- Never to refuse a challenge from an equal, Never to turn the back upon a foe.
- {"Never to refuse a challenge from an equal, Never to turn the back upon a foe."}
- To eschew barbarity, malevolence, deceit and disorder. And of all, To keep faith.
- {"To eschew barbarity, malevolence, deceit and disorder. And of all, To keep faith."}
- You have completed your oath. Hear me all those under my protection, hear me all kind gods - this person shall forever be, a Knight of Evermore.
- Now bask in your newfound fame; attend to the duties of this land, help the despaired and sullen souls, for we have many.
- One more important gift that we bestow onto our knights, their new apparel, so you can be seen to carry the griffon wherever you go. What have you?
- {I'm keen to wear the armor of the other knights. (Heavy Armor)}
- Your build is more than enough to carry such weight, and such imposing armor has been known to stop scoundrels in their tracks before. Fit it on.
- You should see our Bishop, or have a talk with Horustair, I'm sure they have tasks you can attend to.
- Light Armor would suit me well. (Light Armor)
- I took you for the dexterous sort, a deft approach to any engagement is best for those keen on preserving their lives. Have all who come to see you know who you represent.
- {I'm attuned to the arcane, I wish to wear the clothes of the priests. (Mage)}
- These are very rare garments, but this is a rare situation. Very well, share the faith of Mara with all, let her love blind the cults of discord.
- [Scene between King and the commander of the guard; Kegor. Talking of Orc activity]
- And who do you suspect this illusive group is? Any hard leads rather than theory?
- *Sigh*..... These damn Orcs... Ahem, beg my pardon. I shouldn't air my grievances for all to hear. Well, keep to your investigation.
- And whatever details you find, make sure to voice them with Horustair as I have my own matters to deal with currently.
- {What were your thoughts on Mortifayne?}
- A tragic figure, I enjoyed having him as my vanguard in the Reach, despite his viscous temperament.
- {He was a madman, why didn't you oust him earlier?}
- Careful knight, you are talking about a lord here, such words would have you hung were one were any lower in rank.
- Mortifayne was no different from those who preceded him in that land, although his application of power may have been a tad more extreme.
- If only he didn't interfere with the merchants, and let them on their merry way to this city, he would still be alive. Such a shame.
- {So you only got involved because of gold and trinkets? Not because of the abused people?}
- Cease with the melodrama lest you incense me, you've only just become a knight, would be a waste to have that title revoked so soon.
- Those merchants have brought inordinate wealth to this kingdom, raising the prominence of the East so that it may compare to that of Daggerfall even.
- No longer the "Uncivilized hinterland", we are prosperous and proud now! And we will stay that way. Besides, the people of Raven Spring have grown strong; full of conviction - even after all they've gone through.
- Our greatest soldiers are pooled directly from the Reach if you haven't noticed, we need them as much as they need us.
- {What were your thoughts on Merosa?}
- She was someone who was undeservedly burdened with what she governed - but had took it in her stride. It was a shame she couldn't overcome her antipathy with Mortifayne.
- Oh I remember the days she was within these very walls, where my father mentored her to become the leader she was destined to be. Fortunately I've inherited my fathers love for the young, and the want to nurture them for a prospective future.
- {What will happen with the Divide?}
- A transient council has been assembled to assure order there, you may have met them; Fenig, Entemon and Helga. We are making deliberations on Merosa's replacement, no people should be without a shepherd for long.
- {Pardon my curiosity, my king, but I've noticed a vacant throne next to yours - did that belong to your wife?}
- Fret not, I'd have chastised you were your words an assumption of her fate, rather than her whereabouts.
- She had departed the kingdom to visit family in Daggerfall some 4 months ago. with my daughter, though hopefully not to find a suitor for her.
- {You don't want your daughter to be married?}
- No, I will be the one who decides the date for when she is wed - not her mother, whose conniptions will most certainly have her settled with some undeserving yokel.
- {Anyone else in the family I should know of?}
- Why of course, maybe my most important progeny; Damian. My prodigal son has sought renown and glory in the west. I could not be any more proud to have him continue the dynasty.
- After my passing, I am assured that his reign will continue to steer this kingdom to new heights.
- {I hope to meet him some day...}
- I've received a crow carrying the message of his imminent return, you certainly will.
- {You had called for my presence, my king?}
- Kegor has a penchant for appeasement doesn't he? Yes Knight, I did ask for you, yet I shirked to call so soon, after hearing about your feats through the kingdom recently.
- Though seeing as you're here, you have made yourself available for another duty - that duty entails a group of children th--
- [Scene where King meets son for first time in years]
- Son! My, how much you've changed in such short time.
- The messages told of you returning with Elaine, has your mother distracted herself in the markets again?
- Come here son, it's been far too long. I had sat in this hall alone, with all but the guards to humor me.
- Soon I hope, I wish to see the day where they look up in deference - as I still live.
- Not anyone of prominence, a servant of the kingdom who I had knighted. Though this servant did thwart a great threat within Raven Spring.
- However the tales from that place are spurious at best, I may have been too lax in my privileges again.
- {Forgive me my King, do you still need my service?}
- Why of course, you are a loyal subject before royalty and the revered gods. Now I need to be succinct as I have matters to discuss with my son; Children, children from Raven Spring who seek refuge within these walls.
- And as this kingdom is more than charitable, we have made arrangements for a new slew of young to be harbored here until that plague subsides - or when order is fully restored to that town. Order which I think my son will be eager to see facilitated.
- [Scene with a despaired, depressed king on his throne - wondering why his recently arrived son had just been murdered]
- Why....
- My son had just returned, and now he's dead. Why?
- WHAT ARE YOU DOING? MY CHILDREN, RETURN TO SAFETY.
- {I'm getting these children away from here.}
- Knight?! What are you doing? You of all people have turned rogue? (curious voice)
- It was my great hope that someday you would be the vanguard in this Kingdoms exploits, the idol which all my men would compare and aspire to. (speaking as if you weren't there, in a trance)
- Yet you were of common blood who entered my land a mercenary - a parasite who sought blood money. (Turns attention back onto you, voice becomes more coarse and bitter)
- I was too generous, now I reap the ills of your knighthood - those who are born of scum will die as scum.
- {Scum? You're the one who has manipulated the trust of your people and have exploited the children for your perverted desires!}
- I should have you drawn and quartered immediately - though these are absurd times, I may impart my reason of why these children are in my embrace.
- Children who would have grown and tasted the rot of their lowborn status - to be subsumed in despairing mediocrity that every Serf endures. I have shown mercy and spared them from that fate.
- These beautiful little tykes are now joyous, resplendent with youthful vigor because of their service to this Kingdom.
- However, no good deed must go unpunished - and these children exchanged their nectar, their early nubility, to enrich the lives of royalty.
- Morality is that which is arbitrated by the gods - and we royalty are ordained by those very gods. I don't know where your skewed concept of ethics has come from? Is this the consequence of your exposure to Namira I wonder?
- {Spare your sophistry, the molestation of children is heinous enough - but you lied about your intentions to covet these children to their Parents.}
- And covet them we did, these children are my anchor to this kingdom - since my son is dead, I have no reason to care for this miserable, wretched land and its people any longer.
- I would sacrifice this entire kingdom and its degenerate inhabitants for these children, their sweet, soft bodies.
- {You're a twisted hedonist who isn't fit to rule - the unfortunate people of this kingdom suffer for your gluttony.}
- What value is there in this world? The bodies pile higher upon the pyre and people are lost in droves, unfulfilled and miserable!
- After how many years of conflict and how many tens of thousands are butchered, we've finally built a time of remembered peace! A gleaming miracle in the East!
- But it's only for an instant! At the periphery the monster called want festers, seeking new minds to pervert with its spurious potential. If only we could be content with what we had!
- Manifesting itself in the slaughter, the chaos you see before you!
- {You have become ravenous...}
- In the face of that monster, that want - the will of one land's king becomes naught. The wisdom of one man is folly!
- Yet I cannot stop being king - however perfidious and deplorable I become, I cannot abandon my duties!
- In this hollow world of fleeting importance, if there is one single ray of hope to be found...
- It is warmth, only warmth covers and protects me from this world.
- You've stolen the garden that gave me that warmth, you had taken and BURNED it!
- {You are a victim to your own malcontent, you have projected your dissatisfaction upon those under your wing - now the rebels whisper has become a shout.}
- *Sigh* So tired, I will not listen to the lessons of virtue from a lowly vagrant.
- Kegor! Arouse the torturers, let them do whatever they wish with this scum. It has sinned gravely against royalty.
- Kegor? Has he spread the cancer of treason through you as well? I will not repeat myself!
- Any who mentions this ordeal outside this palace will have themselves and their families put to death immediately, no exceptions!
- This scoundrel will see the gravity of the crimes it has committed, while it draws breath.
- You over-extended, no doubt your heart burned with dreams and ambition. If you had but known your place, you may have achieved them.
- What?! Shall I have you executed too?
- Gods! You are the evil that came to undo my kingdom! What agent of discord do you work for?! An uther lackey!
- My heart! Oh gods my heart! Before I become undone, kill this defiler!
- The Griffon you bear has fallen to earth with broken wings, it will never take flight again. Guards, capture this traitor.
- I will have your head, Obey your king and bring justice to this scoundrel! NOW! *erratic, heavy breathing*
- Kegor do not stall! Kill this wretch!
- Treason! Bastard-blooded scum! Guards, kill them both! Now!
- {Do you need the services of a mercenary, my king?}
- It appears you lack in propriety, making up for it in ignorance I hope. If I were of the temperament of the lords I govern, I could take those bloody hands off you this instant!
- If you happen across a more privileged rank or are in esteemed company, then I will permit council to you. But as of now, a mercenary has no business propositioning a king.
- {How is the kingdom's relation to the other kingdoms}
- There are five kingdoms that span our province; Jehanna, Farrun, Wayrest, Evermore and last, yet more importantly Daggerfall.
- Jehanna is a frozen cluster of embittered nords and corpses, we'd see no benefit in bettering relations with that frigid wasteland when resources can be diverted to more promising alliances.
- Farrun shares Jehannas obscurity in the political scape, fairing better for its renowned fishery and its docks which hosts fleets for the Empire's northern navies.
- Wayrest... Well I don't feel I need to elaborate on the state of that pitiful kingdom - my first great military victory, and a most certain one at that. Not an acre left of that kingdom that didn't see retribution.
- {Why did Wayrest deserve this retribution?}
- It was foolish of me to knight those ignorant of this kingdom's history. I will speak to your ignorance rather than ill intent. Wayrest had sullied your kings image, thus they shamed the body of the Kingdom.
- They had sealed me within a durance, deep in the bowels of their walls. Laying spurious accusations at me. Such sacrilege against those divined directly by the gods deserves fury like no other!
- However thorough our destruction of wayrest was, I was still left unfulfilled. I had not seen uther's head before me - and we had not retrieved his body. I would have his fear-struck face mantled with the rest of the game in my hall.
- {And the last kingdom?}
- Yes, concluding with Daggerfall - center stage for High Rock's eminence within Tamriel and the kingdom which ordains the destinies of the us all - whenever Daggerfall churns, the whole province twists with it.
- We are in the process of facilitating relations with that great kingdom, having my progeny marry off into their great houses in hopes of forging an undying alliance that can see us reign over high rock in tandem.
- Though I would be remiss of the truth ,If I didn't speak of the daggerfallen's character and their view of us in the east - we still have the burden of our past, tainting further relations with the nobility there.
- Yet money and power speaks, it will be impossible to ignore a burgeoning kingdom as ours when the green banners encroach westward.
- {Why do you want to see these children?}
- I'll speak candidly, we have been found lacking when it comes to alleviating the reach's suffering - this altruism is the least we can show for our unintended negligence.
- A gesture of good will that will engender rapport with out subjects, and to protect the young, for the assurance of a new generation of reachmen that will propagate their names.
- {I'm sure there are better ways to do it, like sending more men to defend the land}
- Has a serpent found its way into your heart knight? Is this serpent desperate to accuse me of something wretched? I never took you for one to be reticent.
- {I didn't mean anything by it}
- If the wind so much as whistles your name, and these sordid rumors follow. You and any that bear relations will see a most terrible death on that very same day.
- But you are loyal, so these measures would never need to be entertained. Will they?
- {No, I will obey}
- Very well, off you go knight! Stay safe on your travels!
- [PANIC, RUNNING AWAY]
- Mara, Stendarr! Save me!
- [PLAYER YIELDS]
- You fool, you'll get yourself killed.
- [Player Stealing]
- Such insolence! Have this cretin hanged!
- [Friend is murdered]
- Foul fiend, you will be punished!
- [Dying words]
- It was a good life...
- Evermore dies with me...
- [NPC being hit]
- Creature!
- Scum!
- How dare you!
- Ah!
- Eugh!
- [TAUNT DIRECTED TOWARD DAEDRA]
- Divines spit on you.
- I'll send you to oblivion myself.
- What in oblivion are you?!
- [TAUNT DIRECTED TOWARD GENERIC ENEMY, ]
- Make your prayers.
- Wretch, you will suffer for your insults.
- Draw your last breath.
- Shrink back to your hole, peasant!
- Get out, monster!
- [NPC REACTING TO PLAYER ACTIONS]
- A marvelous display.
- Practice on your aim simpleton.
- Halt this nonsense at once!
- Cease that you fool!
- Such insolence!
- Never seen such a thing!
- Shouting yes? Such a destructive show of force!
- Get out of here with that.
- You disgrace the divines with this behavior!
- [NPC REACTING TO DEAD BODY]
- The temerity to inflict death in my presence! Find this murderer!
- What manner of creature could do this
- [GOODBYE]
- Off you go.
- Meeting adjourned.
- Be careful knight, have the children return unharmed.
- Yes, yes, leave me.
- [PLAYER SHOVING NPC]
- Fool!
- Ugh! Do you wish for death?!
- [HELLO]
- Greetings, knight.
- Welcome.
- I've no need for you at the moment.
- Aren't we busy knight, hurry along.
- Have we met?
- Away with you!
- Carry the griffon proudly, knight.
- [NPC HORRIFIED]
- Can't believe what just happened.
- I can't stay here.
- Come on, let's go.
- Why have the gods abandoned us?
- [PLANS FOR FURTHER DIALOGUE]
- {Player should have option to talk to king before being knighted, king will act dismissive of player and foreshadows knighthood (by saying that he will only talk to player when he is of more renown}
- {Evermore's relation to other kingdoms, in particular that of wayrest and Daggerfall. Inferiority complex; king should be happy when talking of wayrest sacking.}
- {Why king wants to see children, king explains that the kingdom needs to improve relations with people of the reach. King gives hint that he doesn't want to talk about it further}
