  1. the SpheRe Of= hekas
  2.
  3. Part l: Conjuring the Column
  4. Begin by standing and facing east. Imagine that you are at
  5. the very center of the universe. I don't mean to imagine that
  6. you have left your room, and are now somewhere out in space,
  7.
  8. Daily Practices
  9. but rather that the very place that you stand is the center of the
  10. entire universe. Just as from our perspective here on Earth it
  11. seems that the Sun revolves around us, but from a larger
  12. perspective it is revealed that the Earth revolves around the
  13. Sun, you should consider that from an even larger perspective,
  14. you are at the very center of the universe and the whole thing
  15. revolves around you.
  16. Take a deep inhalation and imagine that above you,
  17. emanating from the highest heavens descends a column on pure
  18. white light. This light enters the crown of your head and passes
  19. through you, down into the ground. This white light has the
  20. qualities of purification and centering. Exhale and intone the
  21. following:
  22. DECENDAT COLUMBA!
  23. (The descent of the dove!)
  24. Take another deep inhalation and imagine that a reddish
  25. colored light from beneath you rises through the column and
  26. passes through you upwards. Whereas the white light was
  27. purifying, this light is vitalizing. Exhale and intone the following:
  28. ASCENDAT SERPENS!
  29. (The ascent of the serpent!)
  30. Inhale again and feel the two energies entering into you
  31. from above and below. Exhale and feel the two energies flow
  32. throughout your body, impregnating every cell of your being
  33. with their power. Feel your connection between earth and sky,
  34. underworld and heavens.
  35. With your right hand, point at your third eye and intone:
  36. I ( ee).
  37. Move your right hand over your heart and open your hand
  38. so that your palm faces your chest and intone: A ( ah).
  39. Move your hand lower over your genitals and turn the palm
  40. upwards, connecting the thumb and forefinger. Intone: 0 ( oh).
  41. This portion of the rite grounds, centers, purifies, and
  42. empowers you so that you are in a proper position to exercise
  43. authority over the forces that you wish to banish. The Dove
  44. and the Serpent are universal symbols of chthonic and ouranic
  45. forces. By conjuring the column you take in the totality of all
  46. that is, above and below.
  47. After the column, you invoke the divine by the ancient
  48. formula of iA0 This formula is sometimes said to be a Greek
  49. way of saying YHVH (Yahweh or Jehovah), but in reality is much
  50. older than that. In Greek, the seven vowels all equate to planets.
  51. In this case, I= the sun, A= the moon, and 0 (Q) =Saturn;
  52. thus, lAO represents the whole spectrum of spheres (moon
  53. through Saturn) ruled by the Helios, the sun. It can also be
  54. seen as an abbreviation of all the vowel sounds strung
  55. together-a powerful shamanic formula representing totality
  56. of the universe.
  57.
  58. Delineating the Boundaries
  59. Still standing within the column, pronounce to the powers
  60. that be:
  61. HEKAS HEKAS ESTE BEBELOI!
  62. (Away away, all ye profane!)
  63. Make a fist with your left hand and place it against your
  64. chest over your heart, cover it with your right hand and apply
  65. about five pounds of pressure there and imagine that the force
  66. that you s umm oned forth from the column begins to concentrate
  67. at the heart. Imagine that this power, drawn by the physical
  68. pressure and force of will, takes the shape of a gray sphere
  69. about the size of a baseball. Visualize this until you have it very
  70. clear in your mind.
  71. Release the pressure, and in one motion step forward with
  72. your left foot and throw your arms outward in what is called
  73. the Sign of the Enterer. As you make this sign, see the sphere
  74. at your heart grow. As it grows and spreads, it pushes back all
  75. malefic forces and harmful spirits. It grows past your body and
  76. continues until it stops where you wish to make the boundary,
  77. forming a wall of grayish astral force. Intone:
  78. GYRUMCARPO!
  79. (I seize the circle!)
  80. Take your wand or athame in your hand, and extend your
  81. arm straight out. The tip of the tool (or your finger, when
  82. working without tools) should touch the edge of the circle that
  83. you want to make. If you have extended the circle past the
  84. walls of the room that you are in, then you can simply point
  85. towards the edge. Pivot, or walk the edge of your circle and
  86. intone the following:
  87. CONSECRO ET BENEDICO ISTUM
  88. CIRCULUM
  89. UT SIT MIHI ET OMNIBUS SCUTUM AT
  90. PROTECTIE DEI FORTISSIMI HEKATE
  91. INVICIBILE
  92. (I consecrate and bless this circle
  93. That it may be o me and all a shield
  94. And protection in the name of the most powerful
  95. invincible goddess Hekate)
  96. Consider that this sphere is an invisible and impenetrable
  97. fortress surrounding you, keeping out all harmful forces and
  98. spirits of ill-intent.
  99. Part 3: Invoking the Guardians
  100. The last section of the ritual invokes four guardians to the
  101. four corners of our sphere. Before I give the instructions for
  102. this section of the rite I want to say a word about these particular
  103. guardians. The guardians invoked in this ritual are spirits that
  104. were revealed to me by Hekate directly and are bound by her
  105. as protective spirits. Their names are Abaek, Pyrhum, Ermiti,
  106. and Dimgali. They have been called upon successfully by
  107. myself and the small circle of Sorcerers who I have shared this
  108. ritual with, and have proven to be powerful protectors.
  109. Face East and visualize Abaek standing at the eastern edge
  110. of the circle facing the center. He has the body of a man and
  111. the head of a bull that is snorting and breathing wildly. In his
  112. hands he holds two scimitars, which he clashes together in a
  113. threatening manner. Make the gesture of conjuring and invoke:
  114. ORKIZO ABAEK!
  115. Bull-headed guardian of the East
  116. Remember your vow and fill the throne
  117. which has been set for you!
  118. Consider that the throne (your visualization) has been filled
  119. by Abaek and see him now turn around to face the outside of
  120. the circle.
  121. Face South and visualize Pyrhum standing at the southern
  122. edge of the circle facing the center. He has the body of a man
  123. and the hea of a horse that is breathing fire. His two hands
  124. hold a large ebony trident. Make the gesture of conjuring and
  125. invoke:
  126. ORKIZO PYRHUM!
  127. Horse-headed guardian of the South
  128. Remember your vow and fill the throne
  129. which has been set for you!
  130. Consider that the throne (your visualization) has been filled
  131. by Pyrhum and see him now turn around to face the outside of
  132. the circle .
  133. Face West and visualize Ermiti standing at the western edge
  134. of the circle facing the center. She has the torso of a woman
  135. and the head and lower body of a serpent. Her hands hold a net
  136. and a skullcup, which overflows with boiling blood. Make the
  137. gesture of conjuring and invoke:
  138. ORKIZO ERMITI!
  139. Serpentine guardian of the West
  140. Remember your vow and fill the throne
  141. which has been set for you!
  142. Consider that the throne (your visualization) has been filled
  143. by Ermiti and see her now turn around to face the outside of
  144. the circle.
  145. Face North and visualize Dimgali stang at the northern
  146. edge of the circle facing the center. She has the torso of a woman
  147. and the head of a black dog. In her left hand she holds a whip
  148. and in her left she holds adamantine shackles. Make the gesture
  149. of conjuring and invoke:
  150. ORKIZO DIMGALI!
  151. Bitch-headed guardian of the North
  152. Remember your vow and fill the throne
  153. which has been set for you!
  154. Consider that the throne (your visualization) has been filled
  155. by Dimgali and see her now turn around to face the outside of
  156. the circle.
  157. You have grounded and centered yourself and connected
  158. with the Earth and the heavens. You have swept away obstructing
  159. energies from your area and created a psychic barrier around
  160. you. You have invoked guardian spirits in the four directions,
  161. all that remains is to close the rite.
  162. Take a single deep breath and bring your hands together in
  163. front of your heart as if you are praying.
  164. PROCUL HINC PROCUL ITE PROF ANI
  165. PER NOMINA DEI ATISSIMI lAO
  166. (Away, away, all ye profane
  167. In the name of the most powerful lAO)
  168. The wording of this rite is not all that important. I have
  169. used some Latin because it is one of the magickal languages
  170. and can give the ritual a feel that English may not, but if for
  171. some reason you are not comfortable with it, the general form
  172. of the rite can be followed using the English translation or some
  173. other appropriate words of similar meaning.
  174. The ritual instructions may seem long, but once memorized
  175. the whole rite takes about five minutes to perform. Whatever
  176. banishing you choose, it should be done every day-preferably
  177. twice a day as the effectiveness of rites such as this tends to last
  178. through either sunset or sunrise.
