- SEO is puzzling!!!
- This SEO thing is really puzzling, i am trying to rank for a medium competition keyword, i am seeing a new website rank number 1 with zero backlinks and the DA and PR is very poor. The other websites in the top 5 have very strong metrics, how could this happen? How could they use a new website with little metrics to rank number 1 ahead of these other established websites? I am puzzled!!!

- Probably a hidden pbn or a 301 redirect from a strong expired domain
- new website rank number 1 with zero backlinks and the DA and PR is very poor
- 1) Behind this site could be solid PBN's or redirect.
- 2) DA don't have any influence on Google ranking.
- 3) PR you don't know, except old one which is useless.

- Because they care about metrics, not ranking.

- Which tool can i use to discover this redirects or hidden PBN's? Ahrefs, Moz, Semrush are showing zero backlinks.
- What does their content look like?
- I have come across this a few times now and the site had really good content. These sites had a few backlinks but nothing that would even move the needle. They had a few web 2.0's, comment and forum backlinks, less than 10 in total.
- It was for a low completion niche and I wouldn't expect to see someone using a hidden PBN but I guess anything is possible.

- It mean that behind this site is enough bright person.
- And you have no chance to find linking pages using popular BL tools.
- Plot twist: no PBN was used. The algorithm uses different metrics to establish the #1 authority for a keyword. Two of the known ones are authorship and visitors time spent on the site.

- Maybe the other top websites aren't targetting that specific keyword. Maybe they have a powerful pbn behind them. Maybe their on page is on point. Just lots of maybees

- But you don't know if PBNs were used or not. I would assume hidden PBN. If it is a new site, I strongly doubt that anything else than links would help ...
- But then again, we don't know the niche, website, keyword(s) targeted so all our assumptions are just that.

- The guy who owns the site is a SEO guy for real, i wonder if he is using Google Properties like Docs, Spreadsheets etc? These backlinks do not usually show up on backlink checkers.
