- This is a small island with a road going all the way around it
- idea 1
- ======
- your family has recently died. you wish to comfort their spirits in the afterlife and see them one last time and get courage to move forward in life
- there are a number of shrines on the island that need to be visited. they have free charms that can be taken when you offer a donation
- then you can visit the center temple
- idea 2
- ======
- we are working for the temple, carrying something
- we drop it and end up hitting our head, losing our memory
- we are told to fix our mistake
- we need to return spirits from a few shrines to the main temple
- they say to look at the various shrines, that is where the spirits will find shelter and food
- it's really a simple matter of just visiting each shrine and offering something
- setting
- -------
- we start in the town. there are four houses, a small inn, and a grocer, as well as a tiny park leading to the base of the mountain, a torii marks the straiway up to the temple above
- we are carrying a crate up the stairs when we slip and fall to the ground
- the crate spills over all the urns, spraying ash everywhere. spirits can be seen flying away
- the guy is chastising us, telling us to clean up the mess and return the spirits to their urns so they can be named and put to rest
- we need to visit all the little shrines on the island and offer something suitable for each ghost
- ### first ghost
- the first ghost is nearby at the park
- she is the wife of a man with two kids living in the town.
- she says she misses her children but can't stray too far from the park
- you need to convinve the kids to go to the park to play, so the ghost can see they are doing well
- they say it's too hot outside but maybe with popsicles they wouldnt feel so hot
- you just need to buy popsicles from the grocer.
- you try to buy it but you need money
- you can earn money by selling fruits, vegetables, mushrooms to the grocer
- ### second ghost
- the second ghost is at a small shrine in the mountain tunnel.
- hello.
- hmm! you found me.
- afraid so, will you come back?
- you know I helped mine this tunnel years ago.
- everyone used to live on the other side
- but an earthquake ruined the old town.
- i never knew that.
- yeah. what's more, my wife died to the earthquake
- she used to love picking flowers on the other side.
- will you return to the urn, to see her again?
- i will, just bring me some of those flowers so i can surprise her with them.
- alright, what kind of flowers?
- tiger lilies.
- uh, what do they look like?
- crazy looking orange flowers hanging upside down from a weed.
- okay, upside-down orange flowers...
- thanks, kid. i'm sure she will love them.
- place them at my wife's grave on the other side.
- i'll be going now. thanks again, you're a good kid.
- ### third ghost
- the third ghost is on a rocky outcrop accessible only from low tide, at a small shrine
- hello spirit
- ah, the church lad. how are you doing?
- i need to return all spirits to their urns...
- i was wondering when you would find me.
- will you go back?
- if you do me a favor.
- alright.
- as a fisherman i only ever loved the ocean.
- it pains me to see this coast now covered in trash.
- would you like me to clean it up?
- that would be real nice.
- okay. i'll come back when i finish cleaning.
- ### fourth ghost
- the fourth ghost is behind the garden home
- hello.
- ...
- are you one of the spirits released from the urns?
- what if i say yes?
- i'm going to have to ask that you return.
- fair enough, the dead shouldn't trouble the living.
- but could you come back later?
- i want to watch the day go by one last time.
- okay.
- ### fifth ghost
- the fifth ghost is on cat island (?)
- hello.
- oh, hello boy.
- i was asked to return your spirit to the urns.
- i don't want to go back there!
- what if i do you a favor?
- a favor... but i don't need anything.
- can i just pet the kitties for a while at least?
- after that will you go back?
- oh, how about you give them a treat?
- They would love that!
- okay. maybe I can catch a fish for them...
- ### sixth ghost
- orchard shrine ghost
- hello spirit.
- good day, isn't it?
- maybe for you, i've been gathering other spirits.
- yes, well, that's your own fault for releasing us.
- will you come back?
- if you do something for me.
- another favor? okay.
- i died without making the world a better place.
- in fact, i might have made it worse.
- that's too bad, but you can't do anything now.
- you see those trees? this island used to be covered in them
- they produce an excellent timber, so i cut them all down.
- but someone replanted them here.
- i want you to plant more of those trees.
- that way some of my destruction is offset...
- how should i plant them?
- pick up some fruit off the ground, then bury it.
- that's all?
- well, yes. it's not rocket science.
- i'll need to find a shovel...
- ### seventh ghost
- this ghost is at the temple, waiting for you
- hello spirit
- ...which urn?
- what?
- which urn was mine?
- it should have your name on it.
- my name...
- did you forget who you are?
- do i have a name?
- yes, everyone has a name.
- let me get all the other spirits first
- your urn will be the last remaining one
- good idea... i'll just wait here.
- ### eigth ghost
- a small girl in the cave shrine
- hello little spirit
- what? who are you?
- i'm the temple monk.
- are you going to take me away?
- kind of, but don't worry, that's my job.
- how did i get here ?
- well, you were inside of a funerary urn.
- i tripped and accidentally knocked them over.
- i'm dead?
- ah... yes, i'm sorry.
- you died at a very young age.
- that's scary. i want to go home.
- you... you can't, you're dead!
- your parents and family can't see you.
- so what, i don't like the urn!
- do i need to tell you how this all works?
- what?
- dying and being dead.
- oh, yes please.
- so when you die you become a spirit.
- you will slowly fade away into nothing.
- but we can help you reincarnate at the temple.
- that's what the urns are for, holding spirits.
- what happens when i reincarnate?
- you will be reborn back into this world.
- oh, that's all? then i can go home?
- not quite.
- you'll forget everything from this current life.
- you'll become a different person.
- that sounds scary.
- that's how you were born, you got reincarnated.
- is that how everyone is born?
- yes. it's perfectly normal. so what do you say?
- what?
- will you go back to the urn with me?
- yes...
- ### ninth ghost
- this ghost is at the ferry dock
- hello spirit
- what the... you talking to me?
- there's no one else here.
- hm, didn't know the living could see us.
- i'm gathering the lost spirits.
- will you return to your urn?
- i didn't come from no urn, and i aint lost.
- oh, i'm sorry.
- how did you end up here if not the urns...
- i've always been here.
- how haven't you disappeared?
- a spirit must linger near a shrine.
- or the urns like i mentioned before...
- yeah i got a shrine, thanks.
- i don't see any shrines here.
- it's underwater now, really old.
- you weren't even born yet kid.
- what! that must make you...
- dead for hundreds of years?
- yeah. something like that.
- is there a reason you haven't reincarnated?
- uh, what do ya think? it's too scary.
- no thanks, i'd rather just be a spirit.
- i don't think it's that bad...
- hey it's my choice in the end.
- interesting.
- alright, well, i guess i'll leave you be.
- yeah, see you.
- ### tenth ghost
- a 30 year old ghost lady
- hello spirit
- what do you want?
- to bring you back to your urn.
- didn't you drop it yourself?
- i... yes, but it was an accident.
- alright well, i made peace earlier
- because of you now i'm here again
- did you live here before?
- i did, but i don't remember where.
- too much has changed.
- do you want help finding your home?
- it's up to you if you want to help.
- i was just a child when i lived here
- i don't remember anything much
- --------------------
- at this point you can either help find the spirits old home or just return back to the urn
