Yes content is king, the google algorithm is not 100%. There will always be methods to cheat it.

Possibilities:

Poor content that no one wants to read, therefor metrics decrease and google basically doesnt want anyone to see your site.
Blog has had spam backlinks sent to it causing it to avoid page one.
You dont have a domain, instead you might be using blogspot or tumblr ect
Penalised domain
Extremely slow website.

Jesus... how much organic are you getting per day? 1 million words is a lot of content. My site 1 is barely at 33,000 words and I get 10-20 organic daily now.

The "content is king" is a SEO myth told by "SEO professionals" to their gullible followers. They tell them this so their followers don't outrank them of course. Of course good content matters but saying good content is like saying good art, it's subjective. As long as you can write at a high school English level and not write nonsense then that's "good" enough for my sites.

Yes, content is king. However, you still need backlinks and other signals.

I'd say that content is about 50% of the SEO battle. Your content doesn't have to be amazing (that helps for social shares though), but it shouldn't be unreadable either.

Whenever I look up anything that'd be worth making a site about, the listings are almost entirely big merchant sites.
When I say Google is broken people think I'm just bashing.
