  1. Lan Dae was indeed incredibly unlucky. While he was "promoted" for his quite fortunate discovery of what the people had called 'Jewel Trees,' that left him without much work to do, his title largely ceremonial. However, he was invited to work as an overseer for the quarrymen, once they finally recieved their new tools, a creation of the clever minds of the crystalsmiths and the noble Longwei. That being said, Lan Dae didn't know much about stone, but trying to transport a shipment of them, ended with one of the laden carts getting stuck, an axel or something that spun around and made the thing go. Lan Dae didn't know, he'd never been taught anything about wagons that hauled stone.
  2. While he might have thought himself though, Lan Dae was truly a lucky man. If a group of them were to tie a rope around the wagon, they could easily pull the wagon out and continue the convoy of stone's trip into Hagakure so that they could give the stone to the masons and sculptors that eagerly awaited fresh work. A simple, almost genius solution!
  3. That was until the axel broke, causing the cart to topple, and sending blocks of the stone tumbling off the road, down the hill and into the seas, dozens of feet below them. How unlucky!
  4. But no truly, Lan Dae was a lucky man. A very luck man indeed. While he and the other quarrymen had fallen to their knees, looking at the sea that had swallowed their precious cargo and lamenting, Lan Dae noticed that there was an unusual square of white in the water. No, not just any square, but several. Their stone! They first thought the water was shallow until they noticed that the rock was actually floating on top of the waves.
  5. A rock that floated on water? What a most incredible of finds! Stone that was quite striking, cut cleanly (Lan Dae was told, he had no idea what that meant when it came to stone), and floated on water. This would not only make transporting it back to town mildly easier than taking the winding paths, but this meant that the stone could be used for other things. After all, if the stone floated so easily, surely there was no limit to the wonders they could make. All Lan Dae could think of was a boat made of stone, and began to laugh incessantly. Surely with this he would impress his wife. He had not found one, but two things of incredible value, surely he would be promoted again, and his wife would look him in the eye like she used to, instead of grumbling every time she saw him come home.
  6. Yes Lan Dae was lucky, except with his wife.
