  1. <Mishie> Also, not really Gunfighting related since it's a different skill, but I was looking over Endure and well... it /really/ feels super underwhelming as the system is right now. I'm assuming that this is one of the skills that are waiting for more systems to be added?
  2. <Teruzi> it turns out that enduring bullets s'not that great
  3. <Mishie> It's kinda objectively worse than the defensive skills that let you not take a wound in the first place yeah.
  4. <Mishie> Like you're better off just taking a single point to grab Terminator to help out with your power/other skills.
  5. <Teruzi> that's because getting wounded never works out well. I feel it makes sense.
  6. <Mishie> It kinda feels like the sort of skill that you would only take if you're getting it for free.
  7. <Mishie> Like because of a luck roll or because people said "Yeah you get 3 free pips from your power"
  8. <Mishie> Especially since it requires both of the defensive stats.

  11. <Nonagon> if getting wounded never works out well then why put skills like that in the game.
  12. *** Mode #Gamedesign +qo Teller Teller by ChanServ
  13. <Teruzi> variety
  14. <Nonagon> wrong.
  15. <Teruzi> s'not all about efficiency!
  16. <Teruzi> also brutes love it
  17. <Nonagon> I don't think even a Brute benefits much from it. And it is about efficiency, if you include woefully inefficient options they are a) ignored by veterans, thus a waste of effort, and b) traps for newbies.
  18. <Teruzi> I-I use driving
  19. <Mishie> Yeah, Brutes love being able to get rid of a lesser wound once per day
  20. <Mishie> All they need to do is spend 3 skill points
  21. -*- Teruzi snort
  22. <Teruzi> s
  23. <Mishie> Or you could take another 2 stat skill and put those 3 points into Martial Arts, now you get +1 dice to melee offensive and defensive rolls, lower enemy stats (and potentially get bonus effects like ignoring armor, applying pain or easier grapples) as well as doing moderate bash damage.
  24. <Teruzi> it does seem lackluter
  25. <Teruzi> *lackluster
  26. <Mishie> That's not even a defensive skill and it's still better defensively than Endure
  27. <Mishie> In a fight between two Brutes, one with MA 3 and one with Endure 3, I'm pretty sure that the MA Brute is going to end up taking far fewer wounds.
  28. <Mishie> But on the bright side, once the Endure Brute has lost he'll heal up faster!

  30. <Teller> Is the topic the Endure skill? (Sorry, my connection's been odd today, so I missed any earlier conversation)
  31. <Mishie> it is now
  32. <Teruzi> yeah it was
  33. <Mishie> It was originally about Gunfighting, but that skill is fine. Since people were here and talking I decided to bring up the Endure skill.
  34. <Mishie> (also, the Charm 1/4 pips short may need a bit of rewording since emo appeal is slightly different from emotional appeals)
  35. <Mishie> (although a +1 dice to shopping at Hot Topic could maybe be useful?)
  36. <Nick> I'd take charm for the emo appeal
  37. <Mishie> same ofc
  38. <Nick> You gotta appeal to the emos.
  39. <Nick> If you don't, who else is?
  40. <Teller> Appealing to the peasant emocore is not to be underestimated.
  41. <FaustAndAbout> Suicide Squad
  42. <Teruzi> their parents tend to be loaded.
  43. <Teller> Was the thought that endure wasn't useful?
  44. <Nick> Yeah
  45. <Mishie> Pretty much
  46. <Nick> I'll pm you logsd
