- Adrian grabs a bottle of vintage, and two glasses. He sits down and pours Selene one. The scholar leans back in his seat and releases an exasperated sigh, crossing his legs before taking a long and drawn out sip.
- "Women elude me, Selene. There are some things that simply.. appall me, dumfound me."
- (Adrian Montbell)
- Selene had taken a seat and watched as her brother retrieved wine and poured a set of glasses for the two of them. She took up hers and took a moment to smell it before drinking a quick sip and lowering the glass.
- "What is it that has you stuck? I'm not exactly much of a woman in the traditional sense, so I might have a hard time telling you what's what."
- Another sip, before sighing in satisfaction. Relaxation time had become so rare with Avalon being so hectic.
- (Selene Montbell)
- Adrian took another sip. He closed his eyes for a moment, placing the glass onto the table. Unrefined passion seemed to break through the floodgates of his mind.
- "I.." The scholar clenched his fist and slammed it onto the table. Electricity began to gather around his hand, the man's jaw tightening as his face tensed further. His brows furrowed, his cheeks creased.
- "I don't understand it, Selene."
- "Penelope, she was.. "
- Heavy rain began to gather outside, slamming against the tiling of the roof. Nothing so much that it would cause any flooding, but it was clear that his emotions were seeping out of him in a way that could not be contained. The sound of thunder could be heard, piercing the ears of any wildlife that had been unfortunate enough to be gathered around the estate.
- "He raped her, Selene. And she acts like it's nothing. Like she deserved it. For fuck's sake, I saw her tell the man sheloved him."
- (Adrian Montbell)
- She raised her chin when listening to her brother's small outburst. It seemed like fucking a man's wife and barging into their personal affairs was enough for him to get attached. Curious.
- Selene took her sip and set her glass on the table before rising from her seat to look at the storm from the window. While they could be dangerous and destructive, seeing natural elements make such a force was inspiring to a point.
- "Well, Adrian, you need to first understand the fact that you aren't the end all be all for that girl. She was married to him before you were there and there must've been something in that relationship she valued."
- With the sound of thunder outside, the Montbell Daughter had turned to face her brother and ran a hand through her hair before taking her time to return to her seat. She drew her Mauler and overlooked the fantastic runework and smithing skill put into the weapon before she set it aside on one of the tables.
- "Ultimately, she is torn into pieces mentally. You came along and took part of her in one place while she left part of herself with the knight she still holds dear to her heart... and the part she left behind was clearly abused and mistreated, but it still remains there.
- Not much I can really tell in terms of fixing that piece or moving the rest of it here. I don't really concern myself too much with internal affairs and domestic situations. Nor do I have a husband of my own to compare situations with." She gestured to her Mauler, "That tool is my husband, and I love it for the things we do together..
- But I can't tell you the intricacies of a woman's heart, Brother."
- (Selene Montbell)
- Adrian's breathing was becoming more and more spontaneous, a testament to the passion that was lighting up the embers that dwindled in his heart. The Montbell flame was burning, and it was burning brightly. The metaphorical fires only seemed to feed the very real, very chaotic storm that continued to grow outside.
- "It.. "
- He paused, gripping the glass and throwing it against the wall. The mention of the word knight awoke something inside of him. A memory of a man he had the luxury of calling his brother. The memory of Evan. He thought of everything the man stood for. Honor, bravery, chivalry.
- "The moment Gareth decided to force himself onto the woman he claimed he loved was the moment he forfeited the right to consider himself a knight. That man is no knight, Selene. He is a coward. A craven. A weak, weak man." It might've seemed ironic for Adrian, a man who had never fought for his country a single day in his life, to be saying as much. But it wasn't. He fought the best way he knew how, even if it meant not using a sword or fighting on the front lines. Adrian knew it and Selene knew it too.
- "I.. I don't understand, sister. I don't think I ever will. Love is not pain. Love is not suffering, love is not violation. Love is not anger, it is not revenge. The moment you dedicate your heart to someone is the moment you abandon all of those things for the sake of love."
- His brows furrowed, the lightning gathering around him even more. The anger only continued to grow with each passing moment. The flame of vengeance did not dwindle. It only grew stronger. Adrian got up out of his chair, picked it up with a single hand and threw it into one of the bookcases behind him.
- "'I forgive you, Penelope.' He said. The audacity! How can he say that? How, in full confidence, can he convince himself that he is the one who needs forgiveness?! The breaking of vows of any kind does not justify the kind of pain she went though when he decided to force himself onto her. Not Azrael's. Not the Dreamer's. Not Focalar's."
- (Adrian Montbell)
- The table she had her legs on had be flipped and thrown away, as well as the vintage that had been on it. It was one thing to yell at one another, and an entire other thing to destroy drink that wasn't yet finished. She dropped her own wine glass to the ground, allowing it to spill on the fine rug and rose from her chair, lifting a leg and stomping the thing before flinging it towards the staircase.
- "Do -YOU- hear yourself? You ruined someone's way of life an expect them to not rampage the way you rampage around this house right now, ruining things left and right WHEN I JUST ASKED YOU NOT TO!"
- She violently thrust a hand in Adrian's direction before making a choking motion with the same hand and making a very very frustrated grunt, taking up her Mauler and resheathing it.
- "I can't believe you! I would beat you bloody if you did something I specifically told you not to, such as siring a bastard child or letting all of this" she would throw her hand to gesture out to the room that was accumulating damage from the twin's work, "go to waste because you are being absolutely unreasonable in one way or another."
- "I would most definitely beat people bloody, and I have most definitely done so in the past. As for rape, I don't approve of that, but I also don't fucking approve of you being a homewrecker. So if you're that fucking ANGRY, go deal with or deal with Mauler being shoved so far up your ass, I'll need Dyle to make me a new blade."
- The ends of her hair were starting to smoke and emitted a pungent, acrid smell as they were being burned away very slowly. She clenched her fists and released them repeatedly, venting herself in a much less violent manner. This house was expensive to repair, after all.
- "In the end, comfort her or do something instead of moping and raging from and event caused by your own foolish actions."
- (Selene Montbell)
- Adrian flashed forwards in a swift motion, lightning encompassing him and his movements as he stopped right in front of his sister and flared his teeth.
- "I know I messed up, Selene! You don't need to tell me that!" He looked to the side a brief moment, clenching his fists. Then he looked her right in the eye.
- "I didn't sire a bastard, and this house isn't in flames.. yet." The storm began to slowly subside, the thunder becoming less impactful and the rains softening. The lightning that danced around the scholar's body seemed to dumb down.
- "I'm doing what I can to comfort her, Selene. I'm doing everything in my power to comfort her. But she.. " He felt like throwing something again, but he didn't. He just made his way over to available seat and slumped down in a chair.
- "I don't know, Selene. I don't have a damn clue where I'm going with this."
- (Adrian Montbell)
