Bringing up the "flat Earth" topic is weak, desperate and irrelevant. In general a person can have a belief or opinion about an unrelated matter that may or may not be true but still have a true and valid opinion about something else. So come on, be better than that. You're talking to people who are nothing at all like "Dave Johnson" or "BzTruetalk".

An honest and reasonable person would not hesitate to state a belief in the alleged Great White Truck massacre of 2016 if asked - _even if it had been answered already._ Why? Because it takes no time or effort to do so. To avoid a direct answer is to play games. Come on, be better than that.

It does seem as though you're not clear on what was meant by the word "severed" when the witness allegedly said: *"severed heads and severed people".*

Given that you are a native German speaker that is understandable. I'll now try to explain why we (as native English speakers) are not confused about the word even though in general it can have various meanings. If I don't explain this very well just say so and I'll try again.

Here goes:

In English - given the context for the word - it can only mean that heads and limbs were no longer attached to their original body.

"Severe" and "severed" are completely different words. Just as is "sever" and "severely". They do all look very similar but there are pronunciation differences.

A "severely wounded man" means badly injured but you would never ordinarily think he had any limbs missing or cut off (though it could be the case the word "severely" does not imply it).

A "severe injury" is a very bad injury. A "severe storm" is a powerful storm that often causes a lot of damage. (You would never in English write "Severely injury" or "severely storm".)

The word "sever" is completely different to "severe" and "severely". They are pronounced quite differently.

To "sever" something means to break or cut it (e.g., into two pieces). Though you would never say [unless trying to sound silly and funny] "let's sever that chocolate and lets eat it". You would instead say "let's divide the chocolate and eat it" or "let's break the chocolate in half and eat it".

To "sever" something means to break something off from something. Though to "sever a water pipe" would mean to cut it so that it leaked water.

However - when it comes to a human body it has a more extreme meaning.

To "sever a body" means to break or cut a part of it off. *To "sever a head" means to decapitate a body*.

*To "sever a limb" means to remove an arm or leg from a body*.

It just does.

The past tense of "sever" is "severed". *A "severed body" means one that _is already_ in multiple pieces*.

When the alleged witness reported seeing *"severed heads and severed bodies"* every honest, reasonable and non-retarded English speaker imagines bodies without heads and without limbs.

We imagine seeing "just arms" and "just legs" and "just heads" and bodies without heads, arms or legs.

We just do.

(The additional implication is that the witness saw "a lot of" such bodies and limbs i.e., more than just one.)

You cannot dispute the word "sever/severed" but you could dispute the translation if the alleged witness spoke it originally in French.

But then one wonders how it got to be translated as "severed" if that wasn't the intended meaning!
