- “Sympathetic magic,” said Jodah, waving the severed digit. “If I can access one of the magical laboratories here, I can build a reliquary, a device that houses a relic like this and harnesses its power. That reliquary will be able to determine if another object is similar or has been similarly affected. That in turn will indicate if the person is Lim-Dûl or not. Like affects like.”
- “Must be one of those island mage things,” said Jaya. “Very esoteric and useful only once in a blue moon.”
- “It uses the mana of the plains and fields, if you must know,” said Jodah. “Though it does lack that fire mage trait of major pyrotechnics and wholesale destruction that some people seem to enjoy.”
