  1. >"Anon, I'm leaving."
  2. "Sunset... It doesn't have to be like this..."
  3. >"No, Anon, you just don't understand."
  4. >You glance at the love of your life, Sunset Shimmer.
  5. >How did you end up like this?
  6.
  7. >Well, once upon a time, you could take anything.
  8. >Once, you were the average guy in highschool, but then weird stuff happened.
  9. >The world was in danger, and it needed a hero.
  10. >And hence, you stepped in and saved the world, but that's a story for another day.
  11. >But most importantly, you found love.
  12. >You met her.
  13. >She, along with six others, had helped you save the world.
  14. >You had resumed your regular life, but things were different.
  15. >After the final battle, your body was broken beyond belief, and you were pretty sure you were going to die.
  16. >Then she came along and nursed you back to health.
  17. >In that time, you had repaired a broken heart, and in turn, she stole yours.
  18. >Post-recovery, you confessed to her, thinking that she'd turn you away.
  19. >But she simply giggled and kissed you, stopping you from saying anymore.
  20. >After that day, you had never been more content with your life, or asked for anything else.
  21.
  22. >You weren't initially sure what "love" felt like, but you were pretty sure that this was it.
  23. >A few years down the line, you're both at university, living together and working jobs on the side to make due.
  24. >Life wasn't exactly easy, but you enjoyed living a simple life with her and your friends.
  25. >But some things weren't made to last.
  26. >Sunset had recently started talking in her sleep, and had become a lot more emotional, crying over the smallest of things or getting angry at you for doing things you thought she'd never really care about.
  27. >She spoke of her "homeland", and how she was homesick, that she wanted to go back to some place called "Equestria", but she couldn't.
  28. >You tried effortlessly to comfort her and help her in any way you could, but this was one thing not even you could fix.
  29. >A few arguments were had, and you two got a lot more distant.
  30. >You thought that it was just a phase, that it would sift over eventually.
  31. >Boy, how wrong you were.
  32. >Eventually, both of you started to change as people, spent less time with each other and started doing other things.
  33. >Sunset started reading more and spending more time with her friends, whilst you decided to go out and be more extroverted.
  34. >Party more, meet new people and whatever else.
  35. >Then, another girl walked into your life.
  36. >Starlight Glimmer, or as you called her, 'Star' for short.
  37. >Talking to her was... Refreshing, to say the least.
  38. >You didn't have to deal with the all the bottled-up emotions that you had with Sunset whenever you went home.
  39. >There were no awkward moments.
  40. >It was just you two having fun and enjoying each other's company.
  41. >A lot like when you and Sunset first started dating.
  42. >A few things happened, and you hung out with a different crowd.
  43.
  44. >Whilst you were initially loyal to Sunset, who knows what changed you.
  45. >Was it the drugs, the alcohol, the endless tears from a problem you couldn't solve, or just the fact that you had someone new in your life.
  46. >Who knows?
  47. >All that matters is that you went behind her back and fucked the crazy bitch silly.
  48. >It went on for a while, she let you do things that Sunset would've never thought existed.
  49. >You doubt you really loved her either, but her company was something morphine couldn't match up to.
  50. >Time after time, your lies to Sunset about what you do and where you go had gotten worse and worse.
  51. >Eventually, they caught up with you, and she found out.
  52. >You both cried in each other's arms, trying to find out what went wrong with your relationship.
  53. >A couple of lonely weeks later, you both realized how much you miss each other's company, and tried to get back together.
  54. >The relationship wasn't exactly repaired, but you both put in a lot of effort to keep it working.
  55. >But it was a lot more forced than last time, and you knew that in due time, it would collapse.
  56. >Regardless of no matter how hard you tried to fix things.
  57. >So you came up with a plan, you had worked overtime, saving extra money to take her around the world, thinking that it might rekindle the old flame between you two.
  58. >Yet the relationship was dying far too quickly, and your bank account was building up way too slowly.
  59. >Sunset started acting a lot more independent, ignoring you by accident for days on end.
  60. >You let it happen, in fear of another break-up due to confrontation.
  61. >Then, it happened one night.
  62.
  63. "Then help me understand, Sunset!"
  64. >You raise your voice a little.
  65.
  66. "I've been trying to fix our relationship for ages now, and I'm trying to change, trying to be someone you can be happy with, help me understand what I can do to change things."
  67. >She sighs, and lowers her head, staring at the ground.
  68. >"That's the problem, Anon... You've changed."
  69. >You stare in silence, waiting for her to continue.
  70. >"You're not the same man I fell in love with, you're not the hero that stopped Discord from destroying the world... You're not a hero anymore, Anon. Stop acting like you can fix our relationship."
  71. "Sunset, I ca-"
  72. >You're cut mid-way when you notice a tear falling from Sunset's face.
  73. >"There are things you don't understand, Anon. I'm not from... This world."
  74. >"Remember those transformations that Twilight and my friends can do? That's magic flowing from the other world, MY world."
  75. "Why didn't you ever tell me this earlier?"
  76. >"I thought I could move on, forget about Equestria and fall in love, settle down and maybe start a family, I thought it wouldn't matter, but it's been bothering me so much now."
  77. >"I've been having dreams, Anon, strange dreams about Equestria for so long now."
  78. "But they're just dreams."
  79. >"Dreams in Equestria aren't like they are here, they have a much greater meaning."
  80. "So you're being called back there or something?"
  81. >"Yeah, and the more time I spend here, the worse the dreams get."
  82. "Sunset, what about us, what about everything we've been through?"
  83. >You move towards her, trying to stop her, but she takes a few steps back, signalling for you to keep your distance."
  84. >"Anon, I loved you for so long, but what we had? It's over, I need to move on, we can't keep trying to fix something that's dead."
  85. "Sunset, I still love you, I always have!"
  86. >"Did you tell Starlight that too?"
  87.
  88. "I thought we talked about this..."
  89. >"Yes, we did, and you know what? I stayed loyal to you, I never so much as thought about anyone else, Anon. I thought that maybe I could find a way to end those dreams, and fix our relationship, but no! You were out partying and sleeping with other girls."
  90. "You left me, you had practically ditched me for your friends, what was I supposed to do?"
  91. >"We were trying to fix my dreams, Anon."
  92. "You leave me out on all of this, and expect me not to assume the worst? Sunset, you've ignored me for days on end, I can't tell if you hate or love me, or if I've done something wrong, I've been trying to be the best boyfriend I can!"
  93. >"I'm sorry... I shouldn't have left you out, but I was so stressed, I thought you'd call me crazy and abandon me or something."
  94. "We fought Discord together, you thought I wouldn't believe you?"
  95. >"I never thought about that, but it doesn't change my decision."
  96. "So you're still leaving?"
  97. >"I want... No, I need to go back to Equestria, Anon, they need me."
  98. "What about our friends, are you just going to leave them?"
  99. >"We've already talked about it, they understand."
  100. >She picks up her bags, and is about to leave.
  101. >You run up to her and grip her shoulder.
  102. "Sunset, stop!"
  103. >"Anon, just stop, I'm leaving, we both know this wasn't going to work out anyway."
  104. "We can make it work, I promise! Just stay with me tonight, don't go."
  105. >She turns to you, her face full of tears.
  106. >Sunset grips you tightly, as you feel the tears on your shoulder.
  107. >You return the hug, and whisper into her ear.
  108. "I've always loved you, Sunset, nothing will ever change that."
  109.
  110. >She sniffles, and moves back.
  111. >"I know saying goodbye is hard, but this is ridiculous!"
  112. >You both laugh at her joke, before realizing the calamity of the situation, causing you to both break into tears and embrace each other.
  113. >"I love you too, Anon, I don't want to leave, but just trust me, it's better for both of us."
  114. >"I lied about not loving you anymore, I lied to myself to make it easier to go, but the truth is, it's too much."
  115. "Then don't go."
  116. >"Equestria needs me, Anon, terrible things could happen if I don't, just this once, trust me when I say I'm not making it up."
  117. "I believe you, but I don't want you to go."
  118. >"I know, I'm so sorry, I wish there was an alternative."
  119. >Wait, there might be.
  120. "What if I come with you?"
  121. >"No... You don't belong in Equestria, just like how I don't belong here."
  122. "Wait, you survived here, didn't you? I could do it in Equestria."
  123. >"I doubt your body could survive the amount of magic required."
  124. "You're worth dying for."
  125. >She laughs and lightly punches your shoulder.
  126. >"You're still so cheesy."
  127. "Say the one with bacon hair."
  128. >"Anon, please!"
  129. >You hear a honking outside of the house.
  130. "That your ride?"
  131.
  132. >"Yeah, I got Applejack to take me to the portal."
  133. "Well then, I guess this is goodbye."
  134. >"I guess it is."
  135. >You both walk towards the door, as Sunset waves to Applejack and is about to go, but stops midway and walks back to you.
  136. >"Anon, you're the greatest person a girl could ask for, despite your shortcomings, I'll always love you and I'll never forget you."
  137. >She gives you a quick peck on the lips, before waving goodbye and getting into AJ's truck.
  138. >You wave back, as the van drives off.
  139. >She just left, and she's probably never coming back.
  140. >Falling to your knees, you howl in pain, as tears stream down like a waterfall on your face.
  141. >An echo can be heard from your house, of two distinct words.
  142. >The same first two words you ever said to Sunset.
  143. "Y-you too."
