- >"Anon, I'm leaving."
- "Sunset... It doesn't have to be like this..."
- >"No, Anon, you just don't understand."
- >You glance at the love of your life, Sunset Shimmer.
- >How did you end up like this?
- >Well, once upon a time, you could take anything.
- >Once, you were the average guy in highschool, but then weird stuff happened.
- >The world was in danger, and it needed a hero.
- >And hence, you stepped in and saved the world, but that's a story for another day.
- >But most importantly, you found love.
- >You met her.
- >She, along with six others, had helped you save the world.
- >You had resumed your regular life, but things were different.
- >After the final battle, your body was broken beyond belief, and you were pretty sure you were going to die.
- >Then she came along and nursed you back to health.
- >In that time, you had repaired a broken heart, and in turn, she stole yours.
- >Post-recovery, you confessed to her, thinking that she'd turn you away.
- >But she simply giggled and kissed you, stopping you from saying anymore.
- >After that day, you had never been more content with your life, or asked for anything else.
- >You weren't initially sure what "love" felt like, but you were pretty sure that this was it.
- >A few years down the line, you're both at university, living together and working jobs on the side to make due.
- >Life wasn't exactly easy, but you enjoyed living a simple life with her and your friends.
- >But some things weren't made to last.
- >Sunset had recently started talking in her sleep, and had become a lot more emotional, crying over the smallest of things or getting angry at you for doing things you thought she'd never really care about.
- >She spoke of her "homeland", and how she was homesick, that she wanted to go back to some place called "Equestria", but she couldn't.
- >You tried effortlessly to comfort her and help her in any way you could, but this was one thing not even you could fix.
- >A few arguments were had, and you two got a lot more distant.
- >You thought that it was just a phase, that it would sift over eventually.
- >Boy, how wrong you were.
- >Eventually, both of you started to change as people, spent less time with each other and started doing other things.
- >Sunset started reading more and spending more time with her friends, whilst you decided to go out and be more extroverted.
- >Party more, meet new people and whatever else.
- >Then, another girl walked into your life.
- >Starlight Glimmer, or as you called her, 'Star' for short.
- >Talking to her was... Refreshing, to say the least.
- >You didn't have to deal with the all the bottled-up emotions that you had with Sunset whenever you went home.
- >There were no awkward moments.
- >It was just you two having fun and enjoying each other's company.
- >A lot like when you and Sunset first started dating.
- >A few things happened, and you hung out with a different crowd.
- >Whilst you were initially loyal to Sunset, who knows what changed you.
- >Was it the drugs, the alcohol, the endless tears from a problem you couldn't solve, or just the fact that you had someone new in your life.
- >Who knows?
- >All that matters is that you went behind her back and fucked the crazy bitch silly.
- >It went on for a while, she let you do things that Sunset would've never thought existed.
- >You doubt you really loved her either, but her company was something morphine couldn't match up to.
- >Time after time, your lies to Sunset about what you do and where you go had gotten worse and worse.
- >Eventually, they caught up with you, and she found out.
- >You both cried in each other's arms, trying to find out what went wrong with your relationship.
- >A couple of lonely weeks later, you both realized how much you miss each other's company, and tried to get back together.
- >The relationship wasn't exactly repaired, but you both put in a lot of effort to keep it working.
- >But it was a lot more forced than last time, and you knew that in due time, it would collapse.
- >Regardless of no matter how hard you tried to fix things.
- >So you came up with a plan, you had worked overtime, saving extra money to take her around the world, thinking that it might rekindle the old flame between you two.
- >Yet the relationship was dying far too quickly, and your bank account was building up way too slowly.
- >Sunset started acting a lot more independent, ignoring you by accident for days on end.
- >You let it happen, in fear of another break-up due to confrontation.
- >Then, it happened one night.
- "Then help me understand, Sunset!"
- >You raise your voice a little.
- "I've been trying to fix our relationship for ages now, and I'm trying to change, trying to be someone you can be happy with, help me understand what I can do to change things."
- >She sighs, and lowers her head, staring at the ground.
- >"That's the problem, Anon... You've changed."
- >You stare in silence, waiting for her to continue.
- >"You're not the same man I fell in love with, you're not the hero that stopped Discord from destroying the world... You're not a hero anymore, Anon. Stop acting like you can fix our relationship."
- "Sunset, I ca-"
- >You're cut mid-way when you notice a tear falling from Sunset's face.
- >"There are things you don't understand, Anon. I'm not from... This world."
- >"Remember those transformations that Twilight and my friends can do? That's magic flowing from the other world, MY world."
- "Why didn't you ever tell me this earlier?"
- >"I thought I could move on, forget about Equestria and fall in love, settle down and maybe start a family, I thought it wouldn't matter, but it's been bothering me so much now."
- >"I've been having dreams, Anon, strange dreams about Equestria for so long now."
- "But they're just dreams."
- >"Dreams in Equestria aren't like they are here, they have a much greater meaning."
- "So you're being called back there or something?"
- >"Yeah, and the more time I spend here, the worse the dreams get."
- "Sunset, what about us, what about everything we've been through?"
- >You move towards her, trying to stop her, but she takes a few steps back, signalling for you to keep your distance."
- >"Anon, I loved you for so long, but what we had? It's over, I need to move on, we can't keep trying to fix something that's dead."
- "Sunset, I still love you, I always have!"
- >"Did you tell Starlight that too?"
- "I thought we talked about this..."
- >"Yes, we did, and you know what? I stayed loyal to you, I never so much as thought about anyone else, Anon. I thought that maybe I could find a way to end those dreams, and fix our relationship, but no! You were out partying and sleeping with other girls."
- "You left me, you had practically ditched me for your friends, what was I supposed to do?"
- >"We were trying to fix my dreams, Anon."
- "You leave me out on all of this, and expect me not to assume the worst? Sunset, you've ignored me for days on end, I can't tell if you hate or love me, or if I've done something wrong, I've been trying to be the best boyfriend I can!"
- >"I'm sorry... I shouldn't have left you out, but I was so stressed, I thought you'd call me crazy and abandon me or something."
- "We fought Discord together, you thought I wouldn't believe you?"
- >"I never thought about that, but it doesn't change my decision."
- "So you're still leaving?"
- >"I want... No, I need to go back to Equestria, Anon, they need me."
- "What about our friends, are you just going to leave them?"
- >"We've already talked about it, they understand."
- >She picks up her bags, and is about to leave.
- >You run up to her and grip her shoulder.
- "Sunset, stop!"
- >"Anon, just stop, I'm leaving, we both know this wasn't going to work out anyway."
- "We can make it work, I promise! Just stay with me tonight, don't go."
- >She turns to you, her face full of tears.
- >Sunset grips you tightly, as you feel the tears on your shoulder.
- >You return the hug, and whisper into her ear.
- "I've always loved you, Sunset, nothing will ever change that."
- >She sniffles, and moves back.
- >"I know saying goodbye is hard, but this is ridiculous!"
- >You both laugh at her joke, before realizing the calamity of the situation, causing you to both break into tears and embrace each other.
- >"I love you too, Anon, I don't want to leave, but just trust me, it's better for both of us."
- >"I lied about not loving you anymore, I lied to myself to make it easier to go, but the truth is, it's too much."
- "Then don't go."
- >"Equestria needs me, Anon, terrible things could happen if I don't, just this once, trust me when I say I'm not making it up."
- "I believe you, but I don't want you to go."
- >"I know, I'm so sorry, I wish there was an alternative."
- >Wait, there might be.
- "What if I come with you?"
- >"No... You don't belong in Equestria, just like how I don't belong here."
- "Wait, you survived here, didn't you? I could do it in Equestria."
- >"I doubt your body could survive the amount of magic required."
- "You're worth dying for."
- >She laughs and lightly punches your shoulder.
- >"You're still so cheesy."
- "Say the one with bacon hair."
- >"Anon, please!"
- >You hear a honking outside of the house.
- "That your ride?"
- >"Yeah, I got Applejack to take me to the portal."
- "Well then, I guess this is goodbye."
- >"I guess it is."
- >You both walk towards the door, as Sunset waves to Applejack and is about to go, but stops midway and walks back to you.
- >"Anon, you're the greatest person a girl could ask for, despite your shortcomings, I'll always love you and I'll never forget you."
- >She gives you a quick peck on the lips, before waving goodbye and getting into AJ's truck.
- >You wave back, as the van drives off.
- >She just left, and she's probably never coming back.
- >Falling to your knees, you howl in pain, as tears stream down like a waterfall on your face.
- >An echo can be heard from your house, of two distinct words.
- >The same first two words you ever said to Sunset.
- "Y-you too."
