  1. <Nick|GM> It's been two days since Punk made a deal with Truth. So far, the Brokers haven't contacted him for more work, but hopefully that'll change soon. Nothing from Unity yet, either.
  2. <Nick|GM> Sacrilege has been recovering nicely, although his gunshot wound isn't entirely healed. He's been able to walk around, but he's in a lot of pain, judging from the complaining, groaning, and abundant cursing that Punk's been subjected to.
  3. <Nick|GM> It's almost noon, and Punk and Sac are having breakfast in their relatively intact house. The MREs they grabbed today are as bland as always, but it turns out that the meal isn't going to be boring after all.
  4. <Nick|GM> The house shakes from what can only be an explosion, and though the sound is muted, the source can't be more than a couple miles away.
  5. <Nick|GM> Another explosion follows, just as Puck registers the first. It's coming from the north east. Normal territory, or downtown. ||
  6. <Faustus|Punk> Dropping the plastic spork into his bag of lasagna, Shane pulls it out and licks it off, leaving a bit of tar on it. That's weird, is something going on with the Normal? May be good for scavenging afterwards. He turns to Sac and sighs. "You want to trade shakes? Mine's vanilla." He holds up the dull green packet of liquid and shakes it slightly. This place is such a clusterfuck, once they get a reputation they can start walking around like
  7. <Faustus|Punk> big dogs.||
  8. <Nick|GM> "Nah, I got vanilla too," Sac says. He slurps up a strand of cheese. "Wanna check that shit out?" ||
  9. <Faustus|Punk> Opening the pouch up, Punk frowns. "Sort of, but it's cold and this shit's warm so we can wait." He twirls his spork around on his fingers and takes a slurp out of the pouch. "I need to get you armor or something, can't afford to let you lounge around all day every time you get shot." And if he died, nobody would be around to keep watch at night. That too.||
  10. <Nick|GM> "Great plan, I love it. Except the part where I don't get to lounge around."
  11. <Nick|GM> He takes a too-big bite of pasta.
  12. <Nick|GM> "Wer you goh get the armor?" ||
  13. <Faustus|Punk> Finishing the rest of his shake, Shane taps the spork against the top of the bag with the lasagna. "I'll ask the Brokers when they call us in." He takes a bite of lasagna. Tastes fine. He chews in silence for a bit and swallows. "I want to hit something."||
  14. <Nick|GM> Sac manages to swallow his lasagna, and tilts back in his chair. He winces.
  15. <Nick|GM> "I don't. Maybe tomorrow."
  16. <Nick|GM> "Nah, fuck that," he corrects himself. "Tomorrow sucks too. What's today? Saturday? Maybe Wednesday." ||
  17. <Faustus|Punk> Scoffing and finishing up his lasagna, Shane puts the spork into the bag unceremoniously. "I should have broken that bitch's face too, probably would have been fair." He pulls the pack of spices and matches from the MRE and puts it into his pocket. Matches are useful, so are the wet wipes and tabasco, he loves these little packets and all their tiny uses.||
  18. <Nick|GM> "Which one? Commune bitch or Brokers bitch?" ||
  19. <Faustus|Punk> Shane starts putting his trash into the bag. "I meant the one who shot you more recently, but at this point I'd take either." He tosses it into the small trashcan in the corner. "Fuck it, checking out that explosion might be cool, warm up next to a fire or something. Don't fucking die or I swear to god I'll fucking kill you."||
  20. <Nick|GM> "I'll just chill here. No one's gonna kill me, I'm wounded." Sac tries and fails to look at all sympathetic. ||
  21. <Nick|GM> -||
  22. <Nick|GM> "Try to get some drugs or something, this shit hurts." ||
  23. <-- Jackknife (uid200599@192.184.10.9) has quit (Quit: Connection closed for inactivity)
  24. <Faustus|Punk> Punk sighs as he puts up his hood and rolls a bit of cloth around his boltcutters, then starts spitting at it to coat it. "Don't take anything you're offered you dense motherfucker, last thing we need is you getting hooked on crack or some shit. I'll try to get something like Vicodin to take the edge off." He keeps spitting until he has a makeshift torch on his cutters, then lights it with a match from the MRE. Should be good for keeping
  25. <Faustus|Punk> warm.||
  26. <Nick|GM> His tar lights, but not very well. The flame doesn't seem to spread, and sort of sits there on the end of the boltcutters. It's... better than nothing. ||
  27. <-> Divock is now known as Divock|LilBang
  28. <Faustus|Punk> "Fucking fantastic. I'll be back by the time it's dark at most." Shane keeps lighting matches to try and light the torch better as he walks out and begins going to the commotion.||
  29. <Nick|GM> It gets to an almost-but-not-quite-respectable level.
  30. <Nick|GM> Almost all of the snow is melted now, but it's still cold and wet. The sun's shining down through a layer of smog and clouds. There's a whooshing noise, and as Shane looks up, he sees some sort of giant projectile heading towards some houses about ten blocks east. Cruise's doing. That must be what's going on. ||
  31. <Faustus|Punk> Moving a bit farther away from the house, Punk starts creating a trail of tar to skate on and get there faster. Fucking pigs, what are they doing now?||
  32. <Nick|GM> Shane's goop makes the journey over to Normal territory faster. He's given more than a few odd stares on the way, mostly from people who stuck their heads out to see what was going on themselves.
  33. <Nick|GM> The actual territory, when it comes into view, is in localized chaos. He can see a ton of what are probably unpowered gang members running toward him, presumably away from something. A large black dome is visible over a houses a few blocks away. He can't see any more missiles incoming, but the impact of one of the previous ones is very visible, with a ruined house encased in crystal, ice, glass, or something like it.
  34. <Nick|GM> He hears a roar, but before he can identify where it's coming from, his sat. phone rings obnoxiously loud. ||
  35. <Faustus|Punk> Pulling the phone out of his backpack, Shane answers. "This is Punk." He has a business to run now. Mercenaries are supposed to be cool and collected.||
  36. <Nick|GM> "Afternoon!" comes the voice through the phone. Unity? ||
  37. <Faustus|Punk> "The fuck you want, I told you never to call me again."||
  38. <Nick|GM> There's a conspicuous pause.
  39. <Nick|GM> "... oh. OK. Bye." Her voice is noticcably less upbeat, and the phone goes silent. ||
  40. <Faustus|Punk> He calls her back. "I asked a question, that is not 'bye'." If she wants to talk to him there has to be a reason. As much as he hates her, he hates being in the dark more.||
  41. <Nick|GM> ((lol, did not expect that))
  42. <Faustus|Punk> ((lol))
  43. <Nick|GM> "Oh, great." She sounds sincere. "I was just wondering if you know anything about the stuff going on in the city, right now." ||
  44. <Nick|GM> -||
  45. <Nick|GM> Looking down the street in front of him, Shane sees a misshapen, asymmetrical fleshy, bloody monster, before it disappears behind a building, dragging itself forward with a hook. ||
  46. <Faustus|Punk> Punk shakes off the cloth on his boltcutters and gets into a position to defend himself while keeping an eye out for whatever that thing was. "I do, why should I tell you?"||
  47. <Nick|GM> "Because you want to help a fellow human out?" Unity suggests. ||
  48. <Faustus|Punk> "Does that sound like me?"||
  49. <-> Lurks|GM is now known as JustLurking
  50. <Nick|GM> There's no response from Unity. ||
  51. <Faustus|Punk> "So your answer is that I shouldn't tell you? Because that's what I'm getting."||
  52. <Nick|GM> "You should tell me." She sighs. "Look, I don't want to say anything, but you kind of owe me for letting you go after what you did." ||
  53. <Faustus|Punk> "Woah hold up for a minute, I wish Sac was here, that sounds almost like you expected something for helping your fellow man. Holy shit, I thought you were a fucking communist."||
  54. <Nick|GM> "That's not how communism works, and also super not relevant." ||
  55. <Faustus|Punk> "Sorry comrade, favors aren't real. You either give me a real good reason to tell you and cut the crap, or I go back to what I was doing satisfied that you're a horrible piece of garbage like the rest of us." It's interesting, turns out goody two-shoes isn't some benevolent leader after all.||
  56. <Nick|GM> She sighs again, and the line goes dead.
  57. <Nick|GM> Meanwhile, there's plenty happening here and now. Less people running, but more screams and a ton of weird noises that must be coming from powers. It seems like there's a bit of conflict happening just a block or two away.||
  58. <Nick|GM> ((you good to pause for an hourish? I need to eat))
  59. <Faustus|Punk> Putting the phone back and pulling his hood a bit tighter to fight of cold, Shane tries to sneak his way to take a look at what's happening.||
  60. <Faustus|Punk> ((Sure))
  61. <Nick|GM> ((cool, brb))

  63. <Nick|GM> It certainly is cold, and the sun isn't helping that much.
  64. <Nick|GM> Everyone involved in the fight is way too distracted to notice a weird looking guy in dirty clothes. They probably do notice his smell, but it's the least of their concerns. Two Protectorate Brutes are slugging it out with the mass of flesh and blood he'd seen while he was on his phone. At least, they must be Brutes, with how hard everything is getting hit. ||

  67. <-> Turn|Hudson is now known as Turncoat
  68. <Faustus|Punk> ...
  69. <Faustus|Punk> Interesting, he's probably not on the PRT's radar right now, could be fun to rubberneck and see what's going on. Get some info for the Brokers. Punk tries to hide near some garbage that way the smell isn't conspicuous enough to draw suspicion.||
  70. <Nick|GM> Unfortunately, no one in Pueblo is considerate enough to collect garbage in cans, or even to keep it all in one spot. There's bits of garbage all around, but no collection big enough to mask his scent entirely.
  71. <Nick|GM> The fight progresses, no one giving a second glance to him. The Brutes seem to be hurting a bit, but the blood monster is having whole chunks torn off of it. The fight seems like it's only going to end one way. ||
  72. <Faustus|Punk> Hmm. He can use this to his advantage. Gunk pops out and tries to nominally gum up the monster, hopefully this will put the heroes in a good enough mood to tell him what's up.||
  73. <Nick|GM> ((barrage))
  74. <Faustus|Punk> $roll 2h6+1 Bar
  75. <[ATM]> Faustus|Punk "Bar" [3] (3) +1 = 4
  76. <Nick|GM> $roll 1d6+3 S WS
  77. <[ATM]> Nick|GM "S WS" [2] +3 = 5
  78. <Nick|GM> The flesh creature doesn't seem to notice the gunk, but it does slow its movements.
  79. <Nick|GM> $roll 1d6 H W
  80. <[ATM]> Nick|GM "H W" [5] = 5
  81. <Nick|GM> One of the Brutes notices, though, and snaps his head around to look right at Punk.
  82. <Nick|GM> ||
  83. <Faustus|Punk> Redoubling his efforts as he readies his next shot, Shane yells. "Prrph attephin!" He spits at the monster again.||
  84. <Nick|GM> The Protectorate guy who noticed Punk goes back to ripping and tearing at the monster, while the other Brute tries to grapple one of its limbs. With the help of the tar, the creature can barely move, and after a few more pieces are torn off, it stops moving entirely. ||
  85. <Faustus|Punk> Jogging a bit closer, but still far enough away to not be in any danger of the thing coming back, Shane doesn't have to act shocked. "Jesus on the cross swinging from a windmill, what the fuck is this ugly piece of shit?!"||
  86. <Nick|GM> "Who are you?" asks the male Brute, ignoring Puck's question. ||
  87. <Nick|GM> ((punk*))
  88. <Faustus|Punk> "Fabritzio Giacolone, do not you remember me cousin?" Punk taps his foot in annoyance. "I'm Shane." God, he can't just tell them he's a cape, otherwise they might get someone to look him up.||
  89. <Nick|GM> "Fuck off," says the cape. "What's your cape name?" ||

  92. <Faustus|Punk> God, people make this hard. "Never really saw a need for one."||
  93. <Nick|GM> "You're not from here." he says. "Where are you from?" His partner, a woman older than he is, stand by his shoulder, says something into his ear, and then starts to walk away. ||

  95. <Faustus|Punk> "Not here. Can we go back to the crazy shit that's laying there? I'd rather know if there's a horrible monster maker on the loose."||
  96. <Nick|GM> "Sangkin. Changer, not Master. She's dead." ||
  97. <Faustus|Punk> Shrugging, Shane leans on his boltcutters. "Okay, so you're getting rid of the Normals, cool." He slings the tool back over his shoulder and pulls out another roll of cloth to wrap around it. "So with her gone, that means they're basically dead and buried right?"||
  98. <Nick|GM> "Dunno why I should tell you. I got other things to be doing." And yet he's still here, talking to Punk. ||
  99. <Faustus|Punk> Shane shrugs again. "I figured you'd want some time to shoot the shit before being sicced on your next task by the powers that be."||
  100. <-> Druza is now known as Druza|Sleep
  101. <Nick|GM> "With some guy that might be working with them? With you?" ||
  102. <Faustus|Punk> This guy is an asshole. "I guess I'm not getting a 'thanks Shane, you really helped out there, good job!' out of this, am I?" He soaks the cloth with tar and starts repeatedly lighting it. "Good to know that the PRT is unappreciative for any help and I would have been better working for the Normal."||
  103. <Nick|GM> "Except they're getting fucking destroyed and we aren't." ||
