- Facebook said Thursday it has purged over 800 U.S publishers and reports for flood users with politically oriented articles that violated the provider's spam policies, a move that could reignite accusations of political censorship. Pages and the accounts, with titles such as Reverb Press and People Unite, were actors employing spammy tactics and clickbait headlines to induce users where they could be targeted by them the company said. Some voiced a selection of perspectives had hundreds of thousands of followers, including a webpage that billed itself to endorse President Trump. They did not seem to have ties to Russia, company officials said.
