>"Sammy, your arm!" you cry immediately, only to be stopped from rushing to her side by the Officer that was interviewing her.
>"Sir, I'm going to have to ask your name, and why you're currently intruding on this crime scene!" The Officer says methodically, an unkind look on his face.
>"Anonymous Doe, and I live here!" You shoot back hotly, only avoiding snarling at the man by the skin of your teeth.
>"That's right, he's my owner sir!" Sammy chips in, standing with slight difficulty on account of her missing half of an arm throwing off her balance.
>At that the man's severe expression evaporates, replaced by a slightly embarrassed one "Oh, then I'll walk you through what happened as we know it then Sir" he says immediately.
>He explains that Sammy had called the police around fifteen minutes after you had left, on account of the fact that someone had started pounding on the door and as your now smashed in door shows, were successful in invading your home.
>Sammy chips in here, explaining that the man he had destroyed the door was a Cyborg, processing cybernetic arms that looked military grade, who had proceeded to smash the phone and then accost her, how she'd deployed her mace directly into his eyes and lost most of her left arm in the process, with the man fleeing moments later when he began to hear the approaching sirens.
>"He was also saying the strangest things, ranting about how he was real and I "Wasn't the one he needed" alongside of all sorts of insane blatherings!" She exclaimed, with both her and the officer noticing your cringe at the mention of the phrase "I'm Real"
>"Can you tell me why someone with Military Grade Augmentations would want to break into your home, sir?".
>Lulu, finally managing to get past the police line by properly informing them of both your and her status as inhabitants of the house gasps as she sees Sammy's half missing arm, and is at her side in an instant.
>"I don't know for sure, but I think it's connected to-" Is as far as you get before a familiar voice cuts in.
>"My Client will not be saying another word unless you're officially taking him in for questioning" Amadeaus Glint says, his usual too wide smile stretched across his face "Because revealing any more than what he just has would put him in breach of several of the NDAs he has signed, of course, if you are willing to put forth a motion to Sterling's legal department We'll be more than happy to give you the required paperwork to requisition a written statement!" The purple suited lawyer steamrolls any attempts from the officer from getting more information, and before you know it, you're whisked out of earshot by the still grinning man with only a look to Lulu and Sammy, to confirm that Lulu will Stay by Sammy's side.
>"Tell me everything" The Lawyer says, all traces of Levity vanished from His face "Starting with the state of the Apartment of the woman claiming to be Dorothy Ozmund"
>"How did you even kno-" You try to say, only for the man to cut you off.
>"Sterling donates quite favorably to the Police Commission, so when one of ours gets in trouble with the law, we often know before they do, now, as I said before, Tell. Me. Everything" The man demands.
>Knowing a lost cause when you see one, you begin to explain "Fine, she was living in a rundown shithole complex, but when Lulu and I got there it was like no one had lived in the place for years, and then I almost got choked out by a German Modeling Android that looked like it was meant to be a copy of Dorothy, if it wasn't for the fact that most of it's face was missing" You leave out that it was Lulu who had dispatched the Model Android, before continuing on "Then I got a bad feeling, and raced back here only to find out that some Cyborg had busted into my home and ripped off one of My Maidbot's arms at the elbow!" you snap.
>From there he grills you for every detail he can, "How did you know it was a German Model Droid and not a Japanese one?"
>"The Synth Skin was two years out of date from what the Japanese are producing, it doesn't rip the same way because of it's higher tensile strength" You explain, glad you listened to all those times Maryanne griped about the expensive foreign models she had to import for her richer customers and all the ways that they'd try to swindle her for markdowns.
>After what feels like an eternity of grilling questions, Amadeaus finally nods his head and gives you both a warning not to talk to anyone else about what you've just gone through and an address for temporary housing that Sterling was "Graciously" providing you while you got your house fixed back up.
>Finally, you're back at Sammy's side, telling her how thankful you are that she wasn't permanently damaged, and promising to get her the highest quality new arm that you can afford.
>Only when the three of you are alone does the dam break and she cries into your arms, telling you how terrified she was, how she feared that she was going to die, and begging you to never leave her alone again.
>"I promise" You swear, kissing her forehead as you and Lulu hug her "I promise on my life that I'll never let anything like this happen to either of you ever again"
>And god have mercy on anyone that tries to make you break that promise.
>The Temporary housing doesn't feel like home in the slightest, but with Lulu and Sammy at your sides, and Our Sleepless City playing on the TV for the three of you to watch, you can't really find it in you to complain.
>"YOU FUCKING WHAT!?" Maryanne's voice screams over the receiver, as you tell her that you need to replace on of Sammy's arms that night.
