  1. So, to start on a happy note, im still glad i met you and my swedish trip was a great experience which was at a start of many changes in my life..
  2.
  3. Now to give you the "historical" context very quickly: shortly after i returned from sweden, i was elected to the board of prague pirates; election to the national pirate board came just few months after that, so i became very invested in the party. and even then in the "beginning" of my "political journey" i was pissed off at how the leadership (apart from me and one other friend on the board) was being overly executive whenever the elections would come. the pirate ideas became just a burden and had to be sold off for populist/election purpouses.. "ELECTIONS! WE DONT HAVE TIME FOR LOOK FOR THE RIGHT SOLUTIONS. we have to do at least something!" well.. we became so divided that shortly after losing the elections (to the EP), the rest of the board resigned and me and my friend on the board had to organize a general assembly to get the new board elected. i became very reserved as far as party activities are concerned and only participated on my special agenda (a working group for legalization of psychotropic substances - thats my number one personal priority) well.. (now the situation is even worse, and frankly, if we get into the parliament this year, i think the party will rot in no time - but this is only my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt)
  4.
  5. to get to the point, ive lost the feeling that doing politics by getting elected somewhere is my thing.. theres got to be populism envolved (partly because the society, the people, are so dumbed down) and i dont have guts for that. i began to put hope in some form of information lobbying - in short, to convince the people that already have the seats in the important places with rational arguments (or in a way best suited for the person to be convinced - but like.. still with facts, not hookers and cocain. you get my point)
  6.
  7. and here we get to my question: do you think this is doable? is there a chance to influence something this way?
  8.
  9. current context: we (me and some other pirates or ex-pirates who are also fed up with the "FUCK YEAH! ELECTIONS" mentality) are trying to set up a pirate institute, that would focus on the things we feel the party is not doing enough of - informing the people for getting a better society out of it, not for getting votes..
  10.
  11. P.S.: i was very blunt, so i could explain myself quickly.. hope you can understand
