  1. In general:
  2. * Line work is still a struggle but things are improving steadily with daily practice. Definitely need to practice super imposed lines more, especially curved lines. I have to STOP the occasional scratching.
  3. * Really need to be better about letting go of errors.
  4. * STOP worrying. Just need to let go, draw, learn from mistakes and repeat.

  8. Lesson 2
  9.
  10. - Organic arrows are a lot of fun, but I need to learn to combine multiple lines. Currently I am only able to draw the whole thing in a single attempt which will not work later.
  11. - Organic forms took some time to get right, but practicing daily made a difference and my later forms are better. Still feels a bit too straight a lot of the time though, need to try doing more curvy ones.
  12. - Counter ellipsis are ok-ish, but contour lines need a lot of work. Still trying to figure out how to show the degree of the ellipse with the countour line. They all seem very similar even if I were to ghost the whole ellipse. (or the difference is subtler than I am currently able to perceive) Also, not sure if the form itself has any say in where the contours would be or if it's all up to me to just decide where the form shifts.
  13. - Texture is very hard and I am just lost. I am trying to think in terms of cast shadows, but I can't match the example textures with any light source and can't figure out how to think about where the light is. Even if I can imagine the light, I can't imagine the shadows very well. It's also confusing because I don't understand how cast shadows would work with smooth surfaces. (Nothing is completely smooth of course, but it's even harder to think about shadows for these) I can't really find any good resources about texture outside of DAB either, so only plan for now is too keep practicing it. (maybe tracing over the shadows of an image first and then trying to draw it by just looking at it)
  14. - I am even more lost with form intersections. (not as much for just boxes) The marks I am putting down feels random regardless of how much I think about it beforehand. (after a while I felt I just need to try something and learn from it and try something else the next time) This hesitation is very visible in my marks which was a mistake. I should have committed and let it go.
  15. - Organic intersections were also fun. Some forms don't have a lot of support though and don't sag as much as it should. (or even topple over maybe) Again, I don't fully understand where the shadow should be. Is it an exact science or do we have some say in where it'd be which would alter the perception of the form?
  16. I made a small mistake in the second one on the top right and thought I could make that mistake a shadow. Of course I just needed to let go. Now it all looks like it's supported by an invisible force and some of the shadows are messed up because I drew over it. I included this in my submission to own up to my error and really drive "letting go" lesson home.
  17. - All in all, I learned a lot from just doing the homeworks but I can probably do significantly better in some exercises by combining my own review and the critique. Probably not texture or form intersections though.
