  1. >Eddy Rivas isn't a DM for this, but a "Head Master" (HM) according to "someone's" suggestion.
  2. >Literally Who as Asher Mora
  3. >Lead Producer of RWBY as Arrastra Skye
  4. >Kerry "Totally-Didn't-Write-Neptune-Into-The-Show-Because-Miles-Made-A-Self-Insert-Character-And-Thought-It-Was-A-Cool-Idea" Shawcross as Pyke Rite
  5. >Huge Forehead Audio Geek as Fenix Nemean
  6. >The system they're using for the Grimm Campaign isn't even finished. After it is finished, it's gonna be released, but only after they make sure it's "battle tested."
  7. >Everyone's using basic pieces despite having the resources to have static 3D models made for their characters and get them imported to the game like they did with the Grimm.
  8.
  9. >Game begins
  10. >HM starts off by describing Glynda writing a report involving an incident in Mistral, which leads to the characters being introduced to the audience and other players at the table.
  11. >Character introductions are made.
  12.
  13. >Asher Mora is a human who graduated Shade academy and has been doing Huntsman stuff for years.
  14. >Asher's a stealthy boi who wields Fortune's Fangs, which are a pair of parrying daggers/"swordbreakers" that are also grappling hooks.
  15. >Asher is mercenary in terms of personality. Slow to trust, but loyal when you earn it.
  16.
  17. >Arrastra Skye is a Mistralian local who came from a lineage of miners.
  18. >Arrastra and Pyke are buddies from Haven Academy.
  19. >Weapon is Windlass, which is a Crossbow-Pickaxe (kinda cool IMHO).
  20. >Arrastra is a lone wolf type (ugh) who's gonna open up to the party over time.
  21. >Not mentioned, but Arrastra is a Serval Faunus.
  22.
  23. >Pyke is another human
  24. >In Kerry's words, "Blind Optimism" best describes his personality
  25. >Deadass states that Pyke watches the Remnant equivalent of anime and is "shonin-driven."
  26. >Tried attending Shade, but dropped out after the first year and attended Haven instead, where he met Arrastra
  27. >Don't ask why he left Shade.
  28. >Seriously, don't.
  29. >Fights with a drill that also has ranged attacks, but Pyke has no idea what to name it yet.
  30.
  31. >Fenix Nemean is the charismatic type, likely the party's diplomat.
  32. >Lion Faunus
  33. >No, sorry, he's *half* Lion Faunus and half human. There's apparently half of what's already half-animal people.
  34. >Raised some place just outside of Vacuo, and attended Shade.
  35. >Weapon is Pandora's Aegis, which are apparently fighting claws that can turn into shields.
  36. >Fenix has a temper, and Audio Geek shamelessly makes a reference to The Hulk
  37.
  38. >No mention of the characters' Semblances, but HM decides to take advantage of that and have it be revealed during combat encounters.
  39. >No mention of team name, either, so will refer to the group as Team FAAP (Flashpoint) until an official one is mentioned.
  40.
  41. >HM describes a Huntsman dropship everybody rides in on
  42. >Makes mention it's meant for transporting Huntsman teams responding to open-broadcast distress signals.
  43. >Typically makes big money.
  44. >Team FAAP ended up responding to the same signal, which is why they're in the same dropship
  45. >Asher is napping.
  46. >Pyke is straight-up sleeping.
  47. >Fenix is eating tacos (pronounced "Taykos" and jokingly said to be spelt "taccos" because reasons), which both Eddy and Kerry decided are actually a thing in Remnant.
  48. >Fenix shares them with the rest of the party, leading to light-hearted and goofy interactions overall.
  49. >Pilot named Tumms is a really cool guy who listens to Vacuan Death Metal.
  50. >Could've been a Huntsman, but decided against it.
  51. >Big fan of Qrow
  52. >Oh yeah, Qrow is the one delivering the mission briefing. VA sounds like he has a cold.
  53. >Crime is on the rise
  54. >Grimm are also rampant, including some that are "increasingly abnormal."
  55. >Lionheart was the one who made the SOS so he can get more bodies to help out, which means this story might take place during or a bit before the events of Volume 5.
  56. >Qrow has something important to say, but the signal cuts out before he can say it.
  57. >The dropship's systems start freaking the fuck out
  58. >Grimm are attacking, and the Dropship is on fire and losing altitude
  59. >Pilot's severely injured, plus a tacco casualty.
  60. >Grimm happen to be flying to where the party's meant to be going.
  61. >Fenix braces for impact, holding onto his bag of taccos with his free arm.
  62.
  63. >Pyke wants to pull a Ruby Rose and use the flying Grimm as improvised mounts
  64. >Asher takes it a step further and wants to use Fortune's Fangs to grapple onto said Grimm to stabalize the dropship, but his player can't keep a straight face throughout the whole explanation.
  65. >Fenix asks Arrastra for a *sane* idea, only to decide to go with Pyke's idea after Arrastra's player entertains it with the HM.
  66.
  67. The events that follow were frequently switched between the players, but for the sake of organizing everything, all the character's actions will be in their own paragraphs.
  68.
  69. >Fenix opens the door out of the dropship and loses his tacco bag after a failed strength check.
  70. >Fenix bails out to ride the Grimm who snatched the tacco bag away.
  71. >Player rolls a 17+2 for a strength check despite his claims of being dice cursed.
  72. >Fenix lands on a Lancer, which shakily descends due to the extra weight.
  73. >Fenix deploys Pandora's Aegis into shield form to knock the bag of taccos out of the Lancer's mouth, and then dives off to surf with his shield.
  74. >Rolls 4+4 for an Athletics check, which fails.
  75. >What actually happens is that the tacco bag flies off somewhere into the treeline, likely lost for good.
  76. >Opts to just use his shield to descend like Mary Poppins.
  77. >5+4 for a second Athletics check.
  78. >Progress is made to slow down, but it's not enough.
  79. >Fuck it, Beast Mode time.
  80. >Audio Geek explains that Beast Mode is the antithesis of how Fenix normally is.
  81. >Basically Barbarian's Rage.
  82. >HM explains that Aura and Aura Points are different things, the latter of which are basically what allow PCs to use their Semblance.
  83. >Can be used to do Rule of Cool stuff as well.
  84. >Once AP is gone, level 3 exhaustion happens, which is the equivalent of when a Huntsman's Aura breaks.
  85. >Beast Mode costs 2 AP per round, and Fenix has a total of 9.
  86. >Back to game
  87. >Tries to use his "cat-like reflexes" to grab a tree branch and do a hangbar swing off of it to another tree.
  88. >Rolls a 3+3 to Acrobatics. Dice Curse finally set in.
  89. >The branch breaks due to Fenix's weight.
  90. >But he's slowing down, and only took a single point of fall damage (after rolling a 1d8) when he landed!
  91.
  92. >Pyke bails out to ride a Grimm
  93. >Player rolls a 2+1 to grab onto one.
  94. >The whole group laughs hysterically at the failed check.
  95. >Pulls yet another page from Ruby Rose (and Kerry even name-drops her) and uses his drill to slow his descent via recoil.
  96. >Rolls a Nat-20 for Dexterity
  97. >"That's what I meant to do the whole time!"
  98. >keepfiringassholes.wav
  99. >Does one final shot, then combat rolls after landing on the ground
  100. >Rolls 13 for a check
  101. >Not perfect, but it got the job done.
  102. >Pyke plays the roll off like he didn't just slip a little getting up
  103. >Asher saw through his bullshit.
  104.
  105. >Arrastra is more cautious and uses a rope tied to the drop ship to descend down on first.
  106. >Decides to let the treeline catch her while she's holding onto the rope.
  107. >Swings around a bit to generate momentum then leaps from it to go for one of the tree tops.
  108. >Brief intermission where her player explains that her character's Faunus trait lets her climb up and leap forward fifteen feet.
  109. >Rolls 5+2 for acrobatics check.
  110. >Ends up crashing into the treeline instead.
  111. >Decides to use Windlass to catch herself (and the weapon is touched on briefly).
  112. >It works, and she gets another shot at pulling off her landing strategy
  113. >Glides down until reaching fifteen feet, then unhooks Windlass from the tree and lands.
  114. >No check needed, she lands just fine.
  115. >Got to see Fenix barrel through the tree line and land on the ground, yet barely get hurt.
  116.
  117. >Asher does his grappling hook idea to latch onto one of the flying Grimm
  118. >Rolls a Nat-20 for a dexterity check.
  119. >Asher takes a moment to feel pity for Tumms just before the hook connects to another Lancer and he's lifted away.
  120. >Witnesses Fenix going Beast Mode
  121. >Yeah, not even gonna touch that.
  122. >Rendezvous with Pyke
  123.
  124. >Team FAAP succeeded with their emergency landing strategies.
  125. >But Fenix still angy
  126. >Luckily, Asher still has the tacco he hadn't taken out of the wrapping and gives it to Fenix.
  127. >Fenix slips out of beast form and is touched by this kind gesture.
  128. >"Thanks..."
  129. >Adrenaline wears off and Fenix passes out before he can grab it.
  130.
  131. >Hard cuts to everyone else rolling perception
  132. >Arrastra rolls the highest, with a 24 total.
  133. >There's a Beowolf! Roll initiative!
  134. >Fenix wakes up for the encounter, but has to start prone.
  135. >Beowolf token literally pops into existence (TaleSpire is still being worked on, so it's not a big deal).
  136. >Asher goes first
  137. >Uses stealth to sneak into cover after rolling a 12+something (the modifier wasn't made clear).
  138. >Ends turn, apparently unaware that he could've done a ready action to ambush the Beowolf.
  139. >Beowolf moves next.
  140. >The token for the Beowolf just bounces its way over to the rest of the party.
  141. >Group is having a collective giggle.
  142. >Beowolf attacks the still-prone Fenix, who's stated to have 14 AC (+1 with his shield out)
  143. >Beowolf hits for 7 damage.
  144. >A majority of the damage is absorbed by his temp HP (5 x character level) which he gets from his beast form (and somehow still has when not in beast form), so it's more like 2 damage.
  145. >Fenix's turn
  146. >getthefuckup.mp4
  147. >"Ow."
  148. >Fenix goes for a punch
  149. >Misses with a 7+4
  150. >Arrastra's turn
  151. >Runs for the tree that's past the Beowolf
  152. >Doesn't disengage so has to receive an attack of opportunity
  153. >Lucky miss from the Beowolf
  154. >Uses Windlass's main gimmick to shoot a Fire Dust bolt.
  155. >Hits the Beowolf in the hind leg for 9 damage, which draw its attention away from Fenix.
  156. >Pyke's turn
  157. >Runs to a nearby tree while the Beowolf isn't looking and shoots at it.
  158. >Kerry gets an opportunity to have his character say a cool one-liner.
  159. >"Ssstop it!" Bang.
  160. >Beowolf focuses its attention on Pyke now
  161. >Ashur's turn
  162. >Goes for a backstab
  163. >Rolls an 18 and deals "a crap ton of damage."
  164. >Close to dying
  165. >Beowolf's turn
  166. >Nom.
  167. >Ashur takes 2 damage.
  168. >Fenix's turn.
  169. >DECIDES TO SUPLEX A FUCK-OFF BIG BEOWOLF
  170. >WHILE NOT IN BEAST MODE
  171. >Strength contest
  172. >Rolled unmodified 19 (with advantage, since the Beowolf had its back turned to him)
  173. >Beowolf also rolls 19, but Fenix wins due to player advantage.
  174. >Beowolf takes 5 damage, is knocked prone, and is nearly dead.
  175. >Arrastra's turn.
  176. >Fires a Lightning Dust bolt at the Beowolf.
  177. >Meets the Beowolf's AC and does enough damage to kill it.
  178. >Encounter ends
  179.
  180. >Roleplaying happens
  181. >Ashur wondering where the fuck the suplex came from
  182. >Fenix did it for the tacco he didn't get earlier and politely asks for it
  183. >Ashur already ate it
  184. >Fenix is fine with it, because all that matters is their friendshi--
  185. >"Sure man, whatever."
  186. >Pyke compliments Arrastra's shooting
  187. >Entire group realizes that Team FAAP hadn't made introductions yet, which they quickly square away.
  188. >Turns out, Pyke and Arrastra hadn't seen each other in a while.
  189. >Grimm raid sirens interrupt the conversation.
  190. >Team FAAP starts the trek to their destination.
  191. >Eventually make it to a new area that would lead them to where they were supposed to go
  192. >New area is described as a series of "ropes and draw bridges" that aren't well-maintained, which is also the location's security system due to how treacherous the path is.
  193. >HM says something ominous about how people don't go to this place on accident yada yada.
  194. >Session ends.
