Bio: Catherine was born in Kizamo, and from an early age showed an extremely high aptitude for magic. She trained with her parents, who themselves were skilled mages. Even as she studied the magic arts, she yearned to see life beyond the city, to learn from foreign lands - even a place like the capital of such a knowledgeable nation didn’t have all there was to know.

When she was 16, she told this to her parents. Instead of dismissing it, or being mad, like most parents would, they saw it as an opportunity for learning. They provided her with funds and tomes to defend herself. She left, and stayed away for years.

At first, she kept to the familiar: The deserts of Kizamo, and the other cities. Then, she went through Ixion, and learned from a few of the nicer army mages. After about 2 years of travelling, she made the offhanded decision to visit a town in Alberal… and by coincidence, was there when Ixion attacked it.

From that point, her travels had become anything but ordinary. A group of travellers arrived out of nowhere, and she helped them save the townspeople, joining them afterwards. From there, the group went about the task of fighting Ixion and saving the world, travelling to the capital, then being dragged through a portal to another world, coming back out again, and then assaulting Ixion itself - it ended when they destroyed that portal to the other world, and defeated the villain who had incited the war and stopped his plans. The group became known throughout the continent as heroes.

During these travels, Catherine started to be more open, to think about some things besides the next lesson. What had started as a simple one off date with another member of the group, Harlan, grew into significantly more. While the pair never did marry, they stayed together, and settled in Kizamo again when they decided they’d had enough wandering… which, coincidentally, was about when they found out that Catherine had become pregnant.

It was shortly after the birth of her daughter, Amber. Once again, she was working late in her lab, researching and studying magic and technology. It was very late in the night. She was tired, and drifted off to sleep without noticing… and woke up to find herself in one more adventure.
