- Alright, in that case I'll just outline the plan we've come up with after some discussions, and you can give me your thoughts on that.
- So various sections (pokemon irc, tournaments, pokemon forums) want achievements, whether to represent good irc activity, winning tournaments, or good posting.
- We propose that right underneath the avatar (and the title as administrator / moderator), there be a section titled "Achievements:" This section would then have section boxes that you could hover over and would say which section the box refers to and how many achievements that user has for that section.
- For example, Achievements: <#pokemon's box> <tournament's box> <dragonspiraltower's box>
- Someone hovers over the #pokemon box for Aldaron, and it'll show "#pokemon: 7 achievements" and then when they click any box, and it'll take them to an achievement's page that will have each box with all the achievements for that section that the user gained.
- So the page would look something like
- <#pokemon box> : achievement icon 1, achievement icon 2
- <tournament box> : achievement icon 1
- And when the user hovers over the achievement icon, it'll say exactly what it is.
- The achievements we in #pokemon want are so far: vop + hop + aop + sop / overall good performance on #pokemon events / winner of x #pokemon cups / winner of #pokemon tournament / winner of #pokemon challenge / old constant contributor over long period / best new user (limited to 1 and temporary) / administrative + logistic help / top 3 best pokemon discussion starters (changes each week)
- To actually hand out achievements, I figure a special user group can be made that allows certain users to hand out certain section box's achievements (I know atm admins can only hand out badges, but I'm sure a special user group with special permissions for achievements can be made).
- I'm currently talking to artists to get section boxes then unique achievement icons made.
- To summarize, achievement line under avatar area (to differentiate from badges), which will have section boxes that, once hovered over, will show which section it is from and how many achievements that user has gained. Once any of the boxes are clicked, it will forward to an achievements page, which will have the boxes on the left with the achievements earned in appropriate sections on the right.
- Each box icon and achievement icon will be different.
- When planning this I tried to ask the people I was talking to make it as simple as possible (not be too ambitious regarding practicality of coding). As far as I know, this will involve adding a section to the usercp, making appropriate addresses for the hovering over the icons, making an achievements page, making a special user's group with special permissions, and then getting all the icons sorted out.
