Chapter Five: The Bra

    Here I am, running my ass off even though I won't make it on time. It was already 8:58 am, by that time, it was already our morning break. Why am I running, you say? Well, let's just say my classmates did a very good deed. First, they left me out in the woods while they were inside my house, eating cheap ramen. After that, I washed and ironed their clothes so they could have been at least presentable this morning. Finally, they left me out cold to go to school. Overall, they were nice friends.

    Like in hell I would consider them friends for treating me like this.

    I finally arrived, my sweaty shirt is way more wet than a girl in her moment of a lifetime. I hope the guard would let me in, even though I'm already this late.

    "Hey!" shouted the guard.

    Uh oh, I smell trouble!

    "Hey, why are you still outside? Come on go inside, the principal might see you out here!"

    Oh, I didn't expect the guard would be nice to me even though I'm already late. I just nodded to the guard to show my gratitude.

    To my surprise, there were a bunch of students peaking out of our classroom. I sense trouble, I'm sure of it this time. I was really in a hurry to seat in while it was our break time, to avoid Ms. Yuri's wrath of course so I carefully navigated through the pack of students and to my unexpected unluckiness, I finally knew the reason why there were so many students that time. The school's diva was inside our classroom.

    Maya was there. She was sitting on my desk. Finally, I got through the students. As I walked inside the room, my classmates rushed in front of me and bowed down to the floor. Just what I needed early in the morning, my oh-so-dear classmates apologizing to me by bowing down to the floor with their heads.

    "WE'RE SORRY WE LEFT YOU AGAIN!" Alucard shouted.

    "No, just tell me your reason why you left me out cold in the first place." I asked them as I clenched my fist.

    Alucard, who was apologizing, turned his head around to Maya. She smiled. Alucard, who saw her smile was startled for no reason and continued to bow down.

    "I'm sorry, let's just eat some lunch today, my treat."

    That caught my attention real fast. Free food hehehe

    Going back, I let them slide this time. I walked towards Maya to meet her. All of a sudden, Krissilyn blocked my path with her feet.

    "You! What did you do to our Maya?" she asked.

    "What? I just came in right now."

    "Yeah but yesterday, she talked to you. How did you do it? Did you hypnotized her? Unless your talking to her you sho-"

    Krissilyn was cut off by Laysee. She covered up her mouth to stop her from talking.

    "Oh, sorry about that Von! Please pay no attention to Krissi and go greet Maya."

    Okay, that was weird though. Why would they be here early in the morning? I tried to greet Maya a good morning but then I heard the students outside shouting;

    "HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

    "GET AWAY FROM OUR QUEEN! GRRRRRR"

    And so on. Queen, huh? What a lame title. I would prefer if they called Maya their "Ojou-sama" or something. Ahhh stay focused Von, this is no time to show your otaku side. I paid no attention to the students outside and greeted Maya without any problems at all.

    "Good morning Von, did you sleep well?"

    "Um yeah, it was too good that I ended up waking up late."

    "Oh, is that so?"

    After that, it went silent for a moment. I don't know but I think this is what they call an "awkward" scenario or something. Oh well, if that's what the world wants

    "By the way, what are you doing here? Don't you have classes today?"

    "Umm.... You see, I -"

    All of a sudden, I could feel something dark behind me. I exhaled and whispered,"Shit." What would you expect? it was Ms. Yuri who was standing behind me. An angry dark figure that could hypothetically kill you in an instance (based on my own reasoning, of course.)

    I not that freaked out but my knees were shaking. No choice, I guess. I bowed down to my heads and yelled, "I'M SORRY MS. YURI THAT I'M LATE THIS MORNING!"

    "Huh? You were late this morning?"

    "Wait, you didn't know?"

    "No, I forgot to check the attendance this morning."

    "Well, please pay no attention to what I've just told you and mo--"

    "No, let's have a nice long chat later after school Mr. Von."

    She didn't know! She wasn't aware that I was late in the first place! Good drumballs, I've dug my own grave this time. But something's still not right. I could still feel her hostility. I looked at her and she was already standing in front of Maya. Huh?

    "State your business." asked Ms. Yuri

    Maya just nodded and walked out of the room with Krissilyn and Laysee. Seems like Ms. Yuri hates Maya's guts.

    Ms. Yuri went to the front to start the second subject. I sat to my chair and put my bag right beside me. I saw a floral handkerchief on the floor with the initials M and L. Not that I intended to smell it but the scent smells like strawberries. I just kept it in my bag, just in case someone decided to search for it.

    The boring subjects that Ms. Yuri handles were already finished. Time to hit the road.

    For the whole day, none of my classmates batted an eye to me. Seems like they knew I was angry. Like I care though. While I was walking outside the classroom, someone pinched me by my ear. It was Ms. Yuri!

    "Where do you think you're going?"

    "Owowowowow let go!"

    "No, I told you that we will have a nice long chat, ain't that right Mr. Von?"

    Dang, I forgot about that.

    Ms. Yuri dragged me to the faculty office. It was quite a sight to see for the other students that saw me getting dragged away by my homeroom teacher. Inside the faculty room, there I saw the two people I was hoping not to encounter that day. It was John and Andrew, sitting by the couch as if as they were seating in their own sofa.

    "Hey Von! Long time no see!" shouted John.

    "Oh God, not this two knuckleheads." I whispered to myself.

    John approached me while Andrew laid down to the couch and went off snoring in an unbelievable short amount of time.

    "Sup dude!"

    "Umm, hey. This is not the best time Jo-"

    "Ohhh! You got into trouble right? What did you do this time, huh?"

    "Look, Jo-"

    "Uh-huh, I think I know what you did. You assaulted one of your classmates, didn't you?!"

    "Hey now, I-"

    "Wait, you are a loner after all, why would you do th-"

    It was the final straw. He kept cutting me off so I decided to temporarily cut him off by using the technique I learned from the internet, the "make your opponent stop talking by grabbing them on their collar and looking them dead straight into their eyes". It was quit effective.

    "Now, are you boys fighting here in the faculty room?" asked Ms. Yuri that noticed me and John.

    "No Ma'am, I was just messing with Von, hehe." John replied.

    "Go, we need to talk in private."

    "Yes, Ma'am."

    John returned to his seat. He sat on Andrew, who was laying down on the sofa but it didn't woke him. Andrew was sleeping like a rock. Me and Ms. Yuri sat on the chair that was place conveniently by her desk,

    "So, tell me, why were you late?"

    I can't look at her eyes with a straight face. It's because of her aura that was tingling with my eyes not to look.

    "My alarm clock broke."

    Of course this was a lie, I don't even have an alarm clock.

    "Oh really? Well, better buy a new one soon"

    "Yeah, hehehe..." I laughed nervously.

    "Well, other than that, I also have a question for you."

    "What?"

    "Could I least get the number of your parents? You haven't filled out that part from your application form and our school guidelines says that it is strictly required."

    "I'm sorry but I don't have any means of contact with my parents at the moment."

    "Oh, oka- wait, what?" Ms. Yuri asked with a surprised voice.

    "What? You didn't knew? I was living alone for almost 16 years now. The earliest memory I could remember was me being held by a woman."

    "That's it?"

    "Yes."

    "Well, how did you survived? How did you lived for the past 16 years without having a parent to guide you?"

    "Ah, I was taken in by a taekwondo teacher. He guided me and taught me how to clean, wash my clothes and buy food from the convenient store. He is such a good old man but he left right before after I enrolled to this school."

    "Damn it. I need your guardian at least."

    "Sorry, I don't have any."

    "Geez... Did you know who your parents were?"

    "Nope, not a single clue."

    "Then whose signatures and names are these? (she pointed to the application form with the filled-up parent information field)"

    "Oh, that. Yeah, I just made it all up."

    "WHAT?! You can't do that!"

    "Why? I was doing it since I was paying my own bills."

    "HOW?! How did you get away with those?"

    "I don't really know.. I just randomly fill them up with the first name that pops out of my mind."

    "Oh my God... I just discovered my student is tampering official documents since he was a child, how anti-climatic. Wait, how did you even enrolled in this school? How did you tended the bills? *gasp* Don't tell me, you were doing bad things to acquire money!?"

    "Ms. Yuri, relax. I have my own money."

    "Oh, you're working?"

    "Umm, not that exactly. It directly came from my awards that I got from different tournaments."

    "Thank God, I thought you robbed a bank or something."

    "Nope, too hard."

    "Anyways, I need to secure your personal information. Please do me a favor and try not to tamper with official documents. One day, this could bring you a lot of trouble."

    "Yes, Ma'am."

    "Also, you just mentioned that you were living off from convenience store food, am I right?"

    "Yep, a whole sixteen years of it."

    "That's bad for you. Why don't you join me for dinner? I know a great place that serves the best prawns in town."

    "I'll pass."

    "Huuuh? Why? It would be my treat don;t worry."

    "No, not that."

    "Then what?"

    "If your husband sees us, he might thi-"

    At that exact moment, I finally found out the reason why the students were afraid of Ms. Yuri. In other words, I triggered her dark side.

    "You..."

    "Ah? Ms. Yuri? You okay?"

    "You.... If only you weren't my student, I could've killed you by now..."

    "Ms. Yuri, calm down please. I was only joking hehe" I laughed nervously that time. This is the first time ever that I got scared from my own kin.

    "Good, now hush your mouth and let's go now. That place easily gets packed at this time."

    "Ye-es Ma'am."

    Man, that was scary. She was really scary. I thought I would finally see the eternal light or something.

    After eating out with my Ms. Yuri, we parted ways down the bus stop on the intersection. She wasn't kidding, the prawns were really good.
