- Rai's stomach rumbled like a thunderhead as he waited at the kitchen table. The not-so-creatively nicknamed Raichu absentmindedly rubbed his paunchy cream-colored potbelly with a stubby little paw, and licked his lips as intoxicatingly sweet scents wafted through the room. The "chef", a fellow Raichu with the similarly uncreative nickname of ChuChu was hard at work whipping up a massive pancake breakfast for him, and being a Raichu of the Alolan variety, her psychic abilities meant that she was putting literal culinary magic to work. Over a dozen frying pans and spatulas were suspended in the air by a field of faintly rainbow-colored telekinetic energy and held over a series of fireballs generated by ChuChu's Hidden Power attack. Dozens upon dozens of pancakes were being flipped and slapped onto plates in time with flourishes of ChuChu's paws, as if she were the conductor of a psychic orchestra.
- As stacks upon stacks of pancakes began crowding the kitchen counter, each of them topped with butter, syrup, and berries of choice, Rai greatly anticipated the feast to come. His hungry gut was literally roaring at this point, and was so loud that he was positive that ChuChu could hear it all the way across the kitchen. And his suspicions were confirmed when she finished off her last stack of pancakes and set it down. She turned to face him with a teasing grin and placed her hands on her hips, practically their trainer's mirror image when she'd chew them out for making a mess during practice.
- "Well Rai, your breakfast is finally ready! So can you please tell your gut to shut up?!"
- Rai chuckled and gave his gut a pat. "Sorry ChuChu. Those pancakes just look so good, you know?"
- "I know, but still..." Making her way to Rai's seat with a plate of pancakes in hand, ChuChu gave his belly a poke with her free paw and smirked as Raichu blubber gave way under her touch. "Your growling tummy really makes me wonder if you had ulterior motives behind last night's request. Are you positive you weren't just looking for an excuse to stuff your face?"
- Rai rolled his eyes as ChuChu gave his belly a few extra pokes. "ChuChu. Come on. If I wanted to gorge myself on pancakes for the sake of it, I wouldn't go making excuses for it."
- ChuChu shrugged. "Yeah, fair. You're pretty open about being a glutton." With an impish giggle, she gave Rai's tum a playful slap before setting the plate in front of him. "Anyway, here's hoping your experiment works out! And if not, well, at least you got a filling meal out of it!"
- ChuChu's psychic powers carried several more plates of pancakes Rai's way, and they all nestled themselves comfortably around the single plate she had bought him. As he grabbed the fork and knife she had provided him, several thoughts raced in Rai's head.
- He hoped that Melissa, their trainer, wouldn't be too upset at him eating all this food.
- He also hoped he wouldn't put on too much weight at the end of this.
- But most importantly, he hoped that by the time this feast was over that he'd no longer be an ordinary Kantonian Raichu.
- The pancakes, of course, were delicious. Cutting into his first stack and spearing a bite on his fork, Rai moaned in pleasure as syrupy, buttery goodness hit his tastebuds. The texture of the taut, juicy Oran berries and fluffy pancakes were paired wonderfully together, and spurred him into devouring the rest of the stack with the ferocity and gusto of a starving Snorlax. He finished it in record time, and the very second he cleared his plate, he shoved it out of the way and replaced it with another one that he tore into just as fast.
- Since Raichu weren't all that big- clocking in at just over two feet tall- it didn't take long for Rai's gorging to have an effect on his waistline. His once-empty gut started to balloon outward, churning and gurgling appreciatively as it went to work on all the pancakes he was devouring. And four plates in, Rai felt discomfort around his swollen middle as it began to dig into the table. He pushed his chair a few inches back, and upon alleviating the pressure on his belly, he took a few seconds to rest his paws on it and marvel at how much he had eaten. It was the size of an overfluffed pillow and incredibly wobbly, but when he squished his paws into the blubbery mound resting on his lap, he felt a subtle tautness deep within, pushing back against his touch. He was filling up... though still nowhere near full.
- 'Good,' he told himself as his stomach spurred him on with a demanding growl. 'Because I've still got plenty of pancakes to eat before my psychic powers awaken-!'
- That was what had inspired Rai to feast on so many sweet, syrupy pancakes in the first place: while Pikachu from the Alola region evolved with a Thunder Stone just like they did in other regions, they looked radically different as Raichu, and gained psychic powers that were otherwise nonexistent in the species. And the reason for that was, apparently, due to a diet of pancakes of all things. Specifically, pancakes made with a certain recipe that were popular in Alola. Whether it was due to a weird mutation triggered by a combination of the pancake ingredients and a Thunder Stone, or if it had to do with the ingredients themselves being blessed by the local Tapus, Rai didn't know. But what he did know was that when they were both Pikachu, ChuChu's diet of Alolan-style pancakes led to her evolving into an Alolan Raichu once they were both given Thunder Stones. And the second she evolved, she became capable of so many cool things.
- Surfing on her tail! Manipulating lightning to perform dazzling light shows! Catching Ground-type opponents mid-Earthquake and pummeling them with telekinesis! ChuChu's psychic powers made her a powerful battler and skilled contestant in equal measure. And while Rai had quite the respectable battling and contest records himself, he felt that psychic powers were just what he needed to get a leg over the competition.
- Now whether a normal Raichu was capable of going Alolan upon eating enough pancakes, Rai wasn't sure. But as he continued with his feast, he could have sworn that he felt something stirring inside of him. And odd sensation that welled up in the pit of his gut, raced up his spine, and caused a subtle wave of tranquility to wash over his racing mind. Whatever it was, it was blissful enough to cause Rai to yawn as he polished off the last plate that was currently in front of him. And after shoving it away, he rested both paws on his belly and leaned back in his chair before closing his eyes and sighing blearily.
- "Ooh, you're slowing down, big boy!" teased ChuChu, who had personally delivered a ninth stack of pancakes while carrying three more in tandem with her telekinesis. She stacked the empty plates on top of each other and placed the new ones down in their spots. And with the table replenished, she rested an arm on Rai's gut and leaned forward with a playful smirk on her face. "Don't tell me you're full already!"
- Rai belched and smirked right back at her without bothering to open his eyes. "Pfft. Not on your life. I do, however, feel like I'm on the verge of dozing off... you think it's a sign? You know, that I'm on the verge of a psychic awakening...?"
- "I definitely remember feeling that way after a typical pancake binge. Though it might have just been post-meal drowziness." ChuChu began gently pawing at Rai's gut, giggling when it gurgled back at her. "In any case, you've still got plenty of eating to do, Rai. So don't you dare fall asleep on me, got it?"
- "Got it." Rai opened his eyes and sat up straight, causing his overstuffed belly to make a distinct *ga-lunk* noise as its contents were sloshed around. With a yawn, he picked his cutlery back up and started on a whole new wave of pancakes. He started off devouring them as quickly as ever, but three plates in, he could feel his pace start to slow. His stomach had expanded enough to start pressing against the table again, and pushing his chair further away left him unable to grab plates without taking the time to slowly reach past his belly in the process. Thankfully, it had swollen to the point of being big enough for him to rest the plates on it, so he simply decided to use it as a makeshift table as he continued to eat.
- Fullness was really starting to set in at this point, with his gut beginning to feel taut and rock-hard beneath the layer of fat padding it out. Rai's stomach gurgled louder and churned harder as he continued to cram more pancakes inside of it, to the point where by the time he had finished the second round entirely, it had grown just as noisy as it had been back when it was empty. And speaking of growing? At this point, Rai was about as wide as he was tall, and leaning back in his chair caused his gut to rise up like a hill of blubber in front of him. His cheeks sparking in mild embarrassment, he rubbed the sides of his mountainous stomach before turning to ChuChu, who was watching with a cheeky grin on her face.
- "Well, I'm practically an orb n-*hic* now," said Rai, who belched immediately afterward. "Is my fur changing color? How about- *URP* my eyes? *hic* Are m-*URP!* my ears any-*hic* different?"
- A mumbled "Buh..." led Rai to sink even further back into his chair, and his weight, combined with that of all the food packed away in his stomach, caused it to give way and fall backwards. Crying out in surprise, only to let loose his gnarliest belch yet upon hitting the ground, Rai slid off of his fallen chair and laid flat on his back pinned underneath his churning, groaning, sloshing mound of a gut. He was silent for a few seconds, and then uttered a single, solitary word.
- "Ow."
- ChuChu's head poked up from behind his mountainous belly, and she was all smiles as she peered down at him.
- "Nope, you look pretty much the same! Save for all of this, of course~"
- She gave his stomach a hearty smack, triggering a noisy glorp that was followed by a belch from the fallen Raichu, who moaned as his tormentor leaned against his belly.
- "Do you feel any different, at least?"
- "Yeah. But I doubt gassiness, bloating, and *hic* sleepiness are symptoms of a psychic awakening..."
- Sighing in resignation, ChuChu's smile took on a slightly sad appearance. "Well... I guess that experiment was a dud, huh?"
- "Probably. I bet I could eat more pancakes, but- *BUORP* I don't know if I necessarily want to..." Rai chuckled, amused in spite of his failed experiment. "But it wasn't a total failure. After all- *hic* I ate GOOD this morning..."
- "That you did, big boy. That you did indeed~"
- ChuChu fell over and laid her body against Rai's engorged middle with her arms spread wide in her best approximation of a hug. With her face buried in his blubbery bod, she gave a bleary sigh of her own before sinking deeper into his pudge. And as she nuzzled her cheeks against his gut, his cheeks took on a vibrant glow as they sparked even harder than usual. It felt nice to be so comfortably full, but there was something... weird, about ChuChu's fixation on his belly. Why it was weird, he didn't know. Yawning, he figured he'd find the answer after taking a quick nap and resting off all that food...
