- T'Challa, heir to the hidden but advanced kingdom of Wakanda, must step forward to lead his people into a new future and must confront a challenger from his country's past.
- Follows T'Challa who, after the death of his father, the King who of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T'Challa's mettle as king and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
- Black Panther was pretty great and it avoids most of the problems that plague many of Marvel's other movies. It has a unique story to tell and does the best it can to tell that story instead of wasting its time serving as a trailer for future Avengers movies. It uses humor wisely and does not kill several dramatic or intense scenes by throwing in a cheap joke. It lets the emotional moments sink in, and does not try to undercut them.

The villain is a fully realized character with an understandable motivation, and he has personal ties to our hero. Great. We need more believable antagonists like this! In fact, pretty much all of the characters - even the supporting ones - were fleshed out and given time to shine. The worldbuilding was also well done and most people will leave the movie wishing they could go to the country of Wakanda. 8/10.

Black Panther does not reach the heights of comic book masterpieces like The Dark Knight or Logan, but I'd say it's a cut above most of the superhero movies that came out last year, including Thor Ragnarok, Spider-man Homecoming, Wonder Woman, Gaurdians of Galaxy 2 and the horrid Justice League (hatethatmovie).
- This movie was just awesome on so many levels. Firstly, don't be discouraged by those giving this movie a hard time. To be honest, the only reason why one would not like this film is because it is so different from the other marvel cinematic universe films thus, one went in expecting that. I give big creds to Marvel for not turning a blind eye to African people's political struggle all over the world & instead decided to address it, knowing their fan base would not expect the hit. This movie addressed a lot of elements of the reality of colonialism, racism, Black-on-Black violence & white privilege. And to be honest, the only reason why people would not like this film, is because it made people feel uncomfortable with its political radical ideology or they choose to live in their bubble of privilege. Which to be frank, is a shame that people still consider blacks speaking out about their daily struggles to be too radical or not appropriate for "certain" genre's of films. It's reality people, honestly. And Marvel made a good point opening our eyes to that. Besides that, the characters had good development. Kill Monger was a very deep "villain" and for me, had one of the most valid reasons to carry out his plans than most of the clichΓ© motivations given to other Marvel villains. The storyline was good and executed well. My only critique would be that firstly, it does deviate from other marvel films but honestly, that is no issue for me. I enjoyed the deviation, as it sheds a new light on the posistionality of Black Panther within the African context, something new that other Marvel superheroes in the cinematic universe lack. My second critique would have to be the accents, it was a bit overdone for me and as much as I love the characters chosen, it would still be nice if most of the cast chosen could actually speak isiXhosa for example, or had the accents naturally. Other than that film was great & is One of my favorites.
- Black Panther delivers the goods as an adventure film, a political statement, and a cultural celebration. It shakes off a sluggish start thanks to a memorable cast of characters going up against Marvelβs best-realized villain in almost a decade.
