  1. Minimum level ups:
  2. Bulbasaur: 27021 (5-32)
  3. Squirtle: 39872 (5-36)
  4. Charmander: 39872 (5-36)
  5. Metapod: 271 (9-10)
  6. Kakuna: 271 (9-10)
  7. Pidgeotto: 4038 (37-38)
  8. Doduo 7839 (28-31)
  9. Rhyhorn: 70640 (26-42)
  10. Omanyte: 63875 (5-40)
  11. Kabuto: 63875 (5-40)
  12. Dragonair: 154375 (35-55)
  13.
  14. Main idea of the route is that only one of FR and LG actually needs to complete the game as well as the r2 sidequests, as those are the minimum requirements to get Mewtwo. So FR will be relegated to doing all of that while LG's main purpose is to speed up FR. LG will do this by doing tedious tasks to prevent FR from needing to do them. These include leveling up some pokes (Bulbasaur, Charmander, Rhyhorn, and Omanyte), getting Articuno from Seafoam Islands and trading it, and getting Porygon. This is also why FR is the one to complete the game instead of LG, as Porygon is less expensive in LG and thus, is better left for LG to do.
  15.
  16. FR picks Charmander
  17. LG picks Squirtle
  18.
  19. Both get to Viridian after getting dex asap, catch poke, and then start a trade. LG trades Rattata while FR trades Charmander. FR resets afterwards
  20.
  21. FR picks Bulbasaur, as soon as FR can trade, FR trades Bulbasaur while LG trades Charmander. then FR trades Chramnder while LG trades Squirtle, which allows both games to have all starters registered.
  22.
  23. LG alternates between Bulbasaur and Charmander as mains (sticking with Charmander throughout all of the start - flute gets Squirtle overleveled past the point where it evolves, so may as well dump some exp into Bulbasaur), FR goes through with just Squirtle.
  24.
  25. Somewhere around the point where FR or LG get to Celadon, they then trade the middle evo starters
  26.
  27. Once both get to Fuchsia, FR catches and starts leveling up Dragonair while LG catches and starts leveling up Rhyhorn. Both get Lucky Egg and (hopefully) exp share. Both beat Koga and aim to get to Cinnabar Island asap to revive the two fossils. They then set up a trade and trade away the two fossils, possibly the fully evolved starters, and other necessary trades.
  28.
  29. LG mains (parenthesis mean exp share poke):
  30. Koga: Rhyhorn
  31. Blaine: Rhyhorn
  32. Biker Gang: Rhyhorn (Omanyte)
  33. Silph Rival + Giovanni: Rhyhorn (Omanyte)
  34. Sabrina: Rhyhorn (Omanyte)
  35. Fighting Dojo: Omanyte
  36. Erika: Omanyte
  37. Giovanni: Omanyte (Rhyhorn)
  38. Viridian Rival: Rhyhorn (Omanyte)
  39.
  40. At the end, Rhyhorn gets to lvl 39 while Omanyte gets to lvl 38. Total 5 candies needed (probably need 6 for Pidgeot)
  41.
  42. FR mains uses Dragonair for every fight starting from Fuschia Gym. Exp Share is given to Doduo starting from Viridian Rival and Kabuto starting from Lorelei
  43.
  44. Dragonair gets to lvl 53, Doduo gets to lvl 31, while Kabuto gets to lvl 39. 3 candies are needed
  45.
  46. Other Concerns:
  47. RNG Manipulation:
  48. I'm not too knowledgeable on frlg rng manipulation but from what I've seen, rng manipulation for this kind of tas will likely be *really* hard. In the current frlg r2 tas, everything seems to be planned out several steps ahead. For example, unopened closure said that rng manipulation for crits in the Pokemon Tower and the Rocket Hideout were planned out and started all the way in *rock tunnel*. When this tas would require so much more crits due to using weaker pokemon, it's going to be a hard time. For reference, one of LG's fights requires two Double Team misses into Rock Slide crits, which is going to be an absolute bitch to set up without significant timeloss.
  49.
  50. Eevee:
  51. Eevee will be tricky to deal with. We need 3 Eevee for the 3 evolutions and FR and LG combined gets 2 free ones from the Celadon Mansion. However, unlike the originals, you can breed Eevee on Four Island to get the third Eevee. The issue is that doing so is SLOOOOOOOOOW. Eevee requires 35 egg cycles to hatch, far more than pretty much every other poke, which comes out to a wooping 8960 steps. And keep in mind that Flame Body/Magma Armor do not reduce steps for hatching until Emerald. The worst part is that breeding isn't unlocked until the post game. After getting the Eevee egg at the earliest possible moment and taking the other mandatory steps from the last remaining sidequests + Mewtwo, it's almost certain that the Eevee egg wouldn't even be close to hatching (I would genuinely be surprised if it's even halfway through tbh). We would likely need to bite the bullet and go through the extremely slow task of biking around to hatch Eevee unless some very dumb reset strat somehow ends up being worth it. (Maybe arrow tiles in the Rocket Warehouse can speed up the process?)
  52.
  53. Dragonair:
  54. This one is a weird one. Dragonair can come at level 35 in the Safari Zone but a) it's a 1% encounter and b) its level range is between 25 and 35. Getting a lvl 35 Dragonair encounter alone is a 1/1000 chance, and that's before you consider the likely possibility of needing good stats on it. If we give the very generous assumption of needing one perfect stat and 2 possible natures, it comes out to an estimate of a 1/387,500 chance. For reference, the perfect Clefable unopenedclosure got in his tas was about a 1/300,312.5 chance. And that was with *stricter* stat/nature requirements for Clefable compared to the extremely generous requirements for Dragonair. And considering that we would need to manip it later in the game, it's almost certain that manipping it would require a save and quit. Planning it out so that we get the Dragonair w/o significant timeloss + everything else seems like it's on the cutting edge of impossible. Even if we were forced to take a S+Q for it, it would likely be worth it as getting it a lvl 35 saves a massive amount of exp.
  55.
  56. The only other way out of a S+Q is if it was somehow possible to advance millions of frames in a short amount of time although I doubt that exists/is feasible to do in the run.
  57.
  58. Other super annoying rng manips are gonna be Lucky Egg Chansey and all of the legendary catches but obviously neither are even close to as worrying as Dragonair.
  59.
  60. FR: Charmander
  61. LG: anything
  62.
  63. FR: Bulbasaur, Charmander
  64. LG: Charmander, Squirtle
  65.
  66. FR: Wartortle, Ekans, Growlithe, Oddish
  67. LG: Charmeleon, Ivysaur, Sandshrew, Vulpix
  68.
  69. FR: Charizard, Omanyte, Scyther, Shellder, Psyduck, Gloom
  70. LG: Blastoise, Kabuto, Pinsir, Staryu, Slowpoke, Jolteon
  71.
  72. FR: Lickitung, Arbok, Kadabra, Machamp, Graveler, Gengar, Dodrio, Dragonite
  73. LG: Sandslash, Weepinbell, Machoke, Alakazam, Haunter, Golem, Muk, Kingler
  74.
  75. FR: Hitmonlee, Electabuzz, Vaporeon, Flareon, Kabutops, Mewtwo
  76. LG: Weezing, Hitmonchan, Rhydon, Magmar, Porygon, Omastar
  77.
  78. FR:
  79. LG: Articuno, Moltres
  80.
  81. Trading Rhyhorn and Dragonair for the sole purpose of boosted exp might be worth it as trading is much faster in gen 3 than gens 1 and 2
