∘ background: jaehyun lived in a pretty functional household. the most conflict they've had is the dark patch they had when her father went through a mid-life crisis at the age of thirty-nine, and had spent night after night hearing her parents fight over the debt they were in as her father began wasting the money they earned. it lasted for a little over a year, where her mother constantly taught her to be independent because this is a possibility that could happen if she became too dependent. her father moved to korea a few years after everything was fixed, getting a job as an engineering professor in seoul, and he took her and her siblings with her. her mother was too busy in japan to come, and her little sister was only an infant at the time that couldn't even form coherent sentences, so they stayed behind.
             while her sister pursuing spotlights, jaehyun found herself looking at starlight-- and everything beyond it. as her sister decided to go to the school of performing arts and move out, it was only her, her brother and their father left in their apartment in busan. they're not struggling with money, nor are they struggling with their familial bond. her mother comes to visit when she can, but since her mother is busy constantly designing new lines it wasn't often.

∘ personality: jaehyun is the type of silent you watch out for. despite being the quiet foreign girl, jaehyun is extremely feisty and quick-witted whenever she opens her mouth. she has a tendency to be incredibly straightforward, and tends to get herself in trouble, especially since . the only person who could ever set her straight and hold her back is the mother of the group, and even then she'll throw in her two cents in a passive-aggressive way. it's not easy to befriend her, which is why she usually works behind the counter making the drinks/food instead of occupying the cash register (or waitressing) at her father's cafe. though she does have a (slightly) approachable face, and it actually does attract customers whenever they see her through the window or walking outside in her uniform. the downside is that she's quite opposed to being 'picked up', and is a hopeless romantic at heart. she wants profound conversations at 3am, the gradual development from friendship to something more, and all the things you can find in cheesy romance movies-- but jaehyun has a tendency to deny that she wants any of that, and will stray away if she finds herself being to soft, not wanting to seem weak.
              she's also a stubborn person, and will strive to reach an outcome that benefits her. jaehyun doesn't like to lose, or feel embarrassed/ashamed her skills. her confidence in her talents isn't low, and even though she knows she doesn't /have/ to prove herself to anybody, she does like to show that she does, in fact, have the skill she says she does. but she doesn't go around trying to find trouble, always deciding to stay in the back and let the others do the talking (also because she isn't fluent in korean /yet/) until someone actually questions about it. the same rule applies to talking as well; jaehyun won't ever speak unless directly spoken to (or indirectly-- she hates it when people decide to ask other people about her instead of asking her when she's only a foot away)

∘ how your character acts around them: she's still her quiet self, though she does find his shyness adorable. she's not the shy type, but she's not the type to go for it either. most of the time she quite likes that he tries to befriend her and have conversations with her. though, she does find herself in a little cinch when she finds herself thinking more of him than just some cute younger boy with a penchant for making people smile. so she becomes quite feisty, and snarky, showing her teasing side and trying to force her brain into thinking of him as more of a friend. she often leads them both into trouble, despite his warnings.

∘ how they act around your character: he acts a bit awkward around her, with small random instances of cockiness and confidence that has jaehyun dazed for a second. when he finally becomes comfortable around her, he shows his charismatic and goofy side. as one of the youngest in the group, he tries his best to seem older and more mature, but he ultimately acts cute due to his shy persona around new people. he usually tries to be the most level-headed of the two, but sometimes just goes along with whatever she wants. though, sometimes her snark and attitude kind of hurts, he often doesn't show how it makes him feel and bottles it up.
