  1. Temperature When you pick up a glass of ice-cold soda, the glass feels cold. Could you estimate its temperature? The temperature of something depends on how much kinetic energy the particles that make up the material have. The measure of the average kinetic energy of the particles in a material is temperature. If most of the drink particles have ittle kinetic energy, the drink has a low temperature and the glass feels cold. The SI unit for temperature is the kelvin (K). However, scientists often use the Celsius temperature-seate (*C) to measure temperature. When you do scientific investigations, you will most likely measure temperature in degrees Celsius
