  1. More Saturday realignment observations
  2.
  3. It's been funny to read the national media today, as they're all obsessing about whether Texas can be convinced to stay in the Big 12. Texas is not the issue now; Oklahoma is.
  4.
  5. The Big 12 lives or dies on what OU does. And odds are not in the conference's favor right now.
  6.
  7. A few things to consider: OU President David Boren was in College Station repeatedly last week, as he admitted Friday. He said that OU tried to keep A&M in the conference, but didn't say how long those conversations lasted. Instead, Boren comes back and starts sounding almost exactly like Bowen Loftin did when A&M started their process of bailing out.
  8.
  9. Oklahoma wants out. That seems pretty darned clear right now, and OSU will go with them. Note, there's no discussion of Texas here.
  10.
  11. There's a reason: OU doesn't want to go with Texas. Like A&M, the Sooners are fed up with them. Remember a couple of weeks ago, when it was said that OU, Oklahoma State and Texas were sticking together? Those comments have come to a complete halt from Oklahoma, and you're only hearing it from Austin. OU's had enough, as Boren's most recent comments indicate.
  12.
  13. Here's the rather amusing part: Texas does not seem to recognize that OU and Oklahoma State are willing to part ways with them. They're also quite confident that any conference in the nation would take them right now, as is. Evidence is getting pretty heavy that that's simply not true. The Pac12 won't; the Big 10 has a conference of its own. The SEC? No chance.
  14.
  15. Right now, Texas' arrogance and the LHN are making them toxic. Nobody wants to stay with them and nobody else wants to deal with them. Oklahoma's actions over the last couple of days are making that quite clear.
  16.
  17. David Boren mentioned that he wanted to see some activity within 72 hours. That was Friday. 72 hours would make it Tuesday--or the day A&M will likely bail out. Now, what would OU do then? Doubt they'd express support for a 9 team conference.
  18.
  19. And what's Mizzou gonna do? Because guess who else was in constant contact with A&M last week...
