- Once the pair stepped foot into the Salis residence, they were greeted with a bow of their butler, Emily immediately motioning for him to move on to the kitchen.
- The interior wasn't as vast as one would imagine from a wealthy family like the cos Salis. But it was natural, considering the circumstances. Moving from Osrona to Nysea, moving from Nysea to Myllenoris, it all took a toll. On the wallet and on the will to invest in accommodations befitting of their status.
- "To the study." The noble simply said, walking through the larger room and slipping behind a wall, likely with the Overlord in tow. A cauldron and a desk was waiting for them. A table filled with vials, alchemic tools such as a mini-cauldron, a mortar and pestle, and the occasional book. Along with the most important reagents for this undertaking. The leg of an Axolotl, and the elder-crellus' mucus.
- "As promised, I will provide the other reagents to our undertaking. Fairy powder is praised for its healing properties. The water crystals here should naturally dissolve." She explained, grabbing the ingredients from a nearby shelf and lining them up on the desk. "Now, there is another ingredient I had in mind. One which should amplify the power of this potion, regardless of its effect."
- "Demon horns."
- The slight rumble in the kitchen had seized as the butler emerged with a smaller table, placing it a little next to the cauldron. Frankly, the butler in question, would retreat there once more, coming back with two cups of tea, the corresponding saucers below them as they were set onto the new table. And, of course, he remained next to it. Who else would pass Emily the tea when she needed it?
- "Any questions so far?"
- (Emily cos Salis)
- Following the little cos Salis, it had been many years since he had commissioned her for the potion that they hoped would make him whole once again, if not help in his recovery from future injuries. Entering the quaint home, it wouldn't be paid much thought, the Task had lived in numerous homes of varying sizes, the smallest being the apartment he had a family of six.
- Entering the study, golden hues would drift around as he casually toked on the pipe- pausing as he notes being in the confined space. "Is it fine to smoke in here?" the Overlord would ask, taking a few more puffs as he prepared for the inevitable No.
- "Mmh.. This is good, and as promised, the twenty-five-hundred upfront."
- A special purse for the gold had been set to the side, dropped on her desk as he looked over the gathered reagents. However, when the final ingredient was proposed, his head would cant.
- "Hmm.. Why demon horns..?"
- It was a fair question, and though he only had a rudimentary understanding of alchemy, he knew enough to atleast try to rationalize his way through the more advanced stuff. He knew Dragon's teeth were famed for their magical power, surely demons horns have similar traits- if not from a more occult origin.
- "I trust your judgement if you feel it's best.. Though, I do carry a few dragon's teeth on me, if you feel they would serve as a suitable replacement."
- He had exiled demons from Theria- was it odd he was apprehensive to consume parts of their body?
- (Revan orn Task)
- The answer to his first question would be the expected deadpan "No.". But otherwise, the Salis remained focused on setting up all the planned ingredients, barely listening to her customer's further questions and inquiries. Up until he mentioned something.. interesting.
- "Oh.. I've thought about mixing them together. But that would likely result in.. more destructive properties, given their conflicting, uh, origins." she responded, the ruddy blue eyes now finally moving to face Theria's Overlord.
- "I expected you to be more conflicted about.. grinding draconic remnants into a potion. But I'll be glad to use those instead. I hesitated a lot on the decision of involving demon horns."
- The whole project was one stretched over many years of gathering information, ingredients, and.. well, more information. The human body, while near limitless in potential, was still a delicate thing. Restoring it? It required care.Lest someone may end up like a specific human who left the crater in the vale.
- And time was rather fickle. The noble seemed more mature now, having grown a few inches, while the butler was spotting a few grey hairs now- but still loyal as ever, passing the cup of tea to the Salis as she took a sip and returned it again.
- "Well then. Would you truly be fine with that? I heard about some rather disturbing history surrounding the grinding of dragon teeth."
- (Emily cos Salis)
- Putting the pipe away, atleast he took enough puffs to carry him through this. With the mention of using both, he would also grow curious as to what such an explosive reaction could be used for, yet he would have to put that to bed and focus on the project at hand.
- "Mmh.. While it is Heresy to bring harm to a Dragon.. There is nothing in the doctrine wrong with using their parts, many of which can be harvested without hurting them.. The teeth I have gathered are actually from the Hatchlings, they've been losing teeth like crazy as they've been growing.. Especially with Mae looking after them."
- Going through the enchanted vest that seemed to hold just as many useful things as his cloak, he would pull out a bag full of the discarded teeth that still held the magic imbued from the divine beasts.
- "How many do you need? I had a few other projects in mind that used them.. However.. I think this will be a fine addition to our concoction.. A testament to the power found in growth."
- Handing it over to her he would quirk a brow- history was one of Revan's weakest subjects so he would be quite curious at the mention.
- "Disturbing history, you say..? You have me a bit concerned now."
- (Revan orn Task)
- The young noble would take a look at the bag of tooth presented to her, squinting a little..
- "Revan." Emily looked up at him again, giving him a deadpan look. "Those are lizard teeth- but not dragon teeth."
- Letting out a small sigh, she'd return the bag, standing up to retreat into the other room. "I'm getting mine." The lesson in history would have to wait a little. But soon enough, the young Salis would return with three sizeable teeth of a dragon. The magical prowess within them? Unmistakeably of draconic origin. But even if they were but remnants of a dragon, they should still be handled with care and caution.
- But Emily was all for it. Up for the *Task*, one could say.
- "There." The noble laid them all out on the desk, giving the Overlord a brief glance, likely only to observe his reaction.
- "And- about the disturbing history... A man names Bastiel once tried to use them to draw the full strength from Drakanite blood. To move beyond the generic half-shift. But when he grinded them, a dragon spirit could be seen, screaming in agony as it vanished."
- A shrug, and a pause.
- "I do not know if this story is true. It's only from a book I found in our library- Oh, and summon a vine and give me hair of yours. Will you?"
- (Emily cos Salis)
- The Patriarch would be quick to scoff, the array of different teeth of marrying points and sizes would be stashed away as the cos Salis would provide her own teeth for the potion- atleast he was getting his money's worth.
- "I'll have you know these lizard teeth are filled with the most potent magic- carrying the potential that allows a dragon to grow to it's magnificent size."
- He would huff, though as she shared her tale of Bastiel, and how grinding the tooth perhaps had destroyed a dragon's soul, he would grumble, unsure of what to do with this information.
- Then an idea came to him.
- "Then we won't grind them.. We'll boil them until they dissolve entirely, like making a stock. That though preserve whatever spirit is held within the teeth, and allow it to mix with the other ingredients, and pass on to the host better..?"
- He would suggest with a cant of his head, at therequest of his hair and a fine, a few long strands would be plucked with little care. A seed held in his hand, it would begin to grow and extend into a long length of fibrous cordage before he handed both over to her.
- (Revan orn Task)
- The pope's suggestion would receive another dumbfound expression. Emily herself didn't care a lot about the dragon's soul, but she was wise enough to know that Revan would.
- "Revan.. How are you planning to boil a Dragon's Tooth?" She'd ask out of nowhere. Dragons, the fire attuned divine beings, were unlikely to ever be affected by fire to the point of melting. Bar their teeth- were the actual fire had to pass.
- "You would have to go somewhere. Somewhere hotter than any Dragon's maw." The noble briefly added, before accepting the vine into her hand, and the strand of hair into a tweezer, tossing the former into the cauldron as she began to boil it down.
- One hand of hers reached to its side, gripping onto a handle. A light crackle could be heard from where she gripped, steadily growing with intensity. The noble was supplying it with electric mana, likely to accelerate the process. Emily too, was impatient about this.
- Quickly, the vine within the cauldron burned down. No. It melted, leaving it in its purest state. A blue liquid, almost ethereal in form. The occasional hint of a flame escaping from the puddle.
- Emily would toss the strand of hair inside the cauldron, the pope's piece of head-accommodation dissolving almost immediately. And.. nothing happened.
- "Perfect." she'd say, suddenly spotting a wide smile on her face.
- "It's just as I thought. The vines are your mana, meaning they are, by some extent, a part of you already. This should make things easier for the later stages."
- The noble turned back to face the Overlord again when her little experiment had concluded, the puddle of mana eventually dissolving naturally into the air. Fleeting, like life was, sometimes.
- (Emily cos Salis)
- There would be a blink from the Patriarch, it felt like a little oversight on his part, however, he would feel the need to defend his hypothesis.
- "When a body is cremated, the flesh is the first to go.. With the bones and teeth being left behind-until the heat is turned up to the point all is immolated and only ash is left.."
- It was just a theory, and though at a glance, and even with an in-depth look, there was little that connect dragons to mortals. So perhaps trying to compare them for the sake of this argument was moot, yet he would still bring it up regardless.
- "The temperature it takes to burn bone to dust is remarkably high.. However, when submerged in bubbling, hot water.. Something any kitchen is capable of doing, you can take the same structure that holds us up, and turn it into a mere liquid.. While I am sure the temperature you would need for the tooth would be higher- I imagine it would be more doable than- I don't know.. throwing it in a volcano."
- Fighting fire with fire? Revan was headstrong, but he did have his own cunning, crafty and indirect, he always could look for an alternative solution.
- However, watching as his vine and hair would be throne into the cauldron his brows would furrow as the cauldron would glow that azure blue that matched his own aura.
- "Mmh.. That makes sense.. I use a seed as a base, and pour my mana into it, spurring to grow instantly with my own energy.. You think this will make it easier to accept the vines for the biomass?"
- He asks with a cant of his head.
- (Revan orn Task)
- Emily gave a slow nod to Revan, seeing as he understood just why she did it. But his previous ones would need some longer consideration. Or so she thought. Because the noble immediately came up with an idea.
- "The mucus.." she'd mumble to herself, before exclaiming it a little louder. "The mucus! Of course- with its own regenerative properties, it should be able to withstand the heat. And we'd need to add the teeth to it regardless."
- Immediately, the noble's hand would move towards the blue vial on her desk. The ruddy blue eyes peeking into the cauldron to check if everything had fully dissolved already. And it had. A shame, really.
- The vial would be emptied into the cauldron, the mucus slowly but steadily descending to the bottom of it. The empty vial just set aside as her other hand increased the heat.
- "We could likely boil the mucus.. indefinitely. So we'll have enough time totalk over things without worrying about it steaming away."
- The potion would likely consist of two parts. One, made up from the mucus, the water crystals and the dragon teeth, the other from the Axolotl leg.
- And the ruddy eyes would fixate on the same leg. Years old, but still looking as if it were cut off yesterday. This particular object required, and still does require intense research. But not intense enough for the noble. For her, it was clear- there had to be a source. A source to its regenerative powers.
- "Frankly. Scalpel." she'd command. The leg was pulled in front of her, the scalpel would be accepted into her hand- and immediately, would have lightning surging through it, extending its length just a little, while also preventing the leg from immediately growing back the damage she would cause.
- And a third would be cut off, the larger part immediately reacting as it tried to regenerate itself.
- "Hmph.. Cold." shemumbled, attempting the same on the other side, cutting another third of the remaining piece off. And now, the previously regenerating piece was beginning to regenerate on both sides. A strange view, to say the least. But the noble wouldn't be grossed out. This was far too interesting for her to be able to stop.
- Emily began slicing chunks off of each side, shaving it down, little by little, pinpointing where exactly it regenerated from. What was it? What was its core?
- "Aha!"
- Almost triumphantly, the scalpel would be raised a little. The leg, as of now, was only tennisball-size. Whatever that was. But even in that brief moment, the regeneration never ceased. And then, Emily took a gamble. A great one. Raising a pen above the 'core', she'd stab into it, firmly lodging the pen inside.
- The core would react, instead of ceasing, growing over parts of the pen itself, becoming an extension of the tool. And Emily couldn't be less excited about that discovery, grinning over both ears before trying to pull the pen out with an "Umph-".
- It was already firmly sewn together. The noble barely got it out, having to break her noble demeanor by straining herself. A shame- but it was for a purpose. One that would benefit her family, likely. So it was nullified!
- "Revan, quick, ram a seed inside of it before it regrows!" she'd demand, holding the Axolotl core out to him.
- (Emily cos Salis)
- With the mention of the cystic catalyst Revan had scraped up from his encounter with the Elder Crellus, an eager smile would spread across his face. If anything would break the tooth down to it's core magical components to be assimilated for a new purpose, it would be the all consuming dna from the pus.
- Taking a step back, the Overlord would be more than pleased with the alchemist he had chosen for this concoction. Standing closely over her shoulder, as a medical professional he would closely observe as she cut at the leg.
- It definitely seemed more like a child simply cutting it to bits- what was she doing? It seemed to make no rhyme or reason to the Task, only that she seemed to try an understand it's properties. However, it seemed she understood much faster than him, a sudden jab at a hidden core, and presented before him he would be given a task.
- He would scramble, bouncing the bag of seeds and tossing a few in the air as he tried to grasp on- finally clutching the bag, he would fish out a seed to jam in the incision that tried to knit closed.
- With a bit of force, it would slip in, and just before it would seal around the seed, Revan would send a charge of his own mana to attune it with the frequency of his soul. Closing his eyes, he would begin to manipulate the mana surrounding the core as well from the inside, using the seed as his focus to channel it all together.
- Finally with a grunt and a sight, Revan would open his eyes. "It is done.. I went ahead and.. Fed it some of my own energy as well.. To familiarize it with my essence."
- (Revan orn Task)
- "Perfect." she proudly proclaimed. "That is exactly what I wanted."
- Not only the seed that the Overlord had planted would grow attuned to his mana. But also the Axolotl leg's core itself, would begin to attune to it, just like it did with the pen, 'regenerating' over the seed, shifting in shape as it became an extension of it, forming a much larger seed, with the pope's still visible on the bottom.
- Several fleshy vines would sprout from it, growing like tendrils of an alien species. It looked.. "Gross.." to say the least. But that creation would be set aside for now with a pair of tweezers, carefully moved to the far edge of the desk.
- Not long after, the cauldron would begin bubbling with the biomass. That was the calling for the Dragon's teeth, those remains quickly tossed into the potion-to-be.
- Emily's hands would grip onto the custom handle once more, the room shifting in atmosphere, metal objects in their vicinity beginning to heat up a little as lightning surged through her hand, giving the cauldron even more power. Power it would need, to boil a Dragon's tooth.
- It was bubbling, sizzling, the teeth inside crackling- but nothing more. It would need even more mana to be broken down. And Emily was ready to deliver.
- The cauldron was already shaking slightly as the noble strained herself, her face, her teeth gritted already from magical exertion she wasn't used to. But slowly, steadily, the dragon teeth sunk into the mucus as the ever-consuming mass broke down its properties. And if a dragon-spirit was screaming? They wouldn't be able to hear or see it anyways. So the noble would simply settle with the less gruesome image.
- There it was. A bubbling mucus, infused by three precious teeth of a dragon. Molten as it would be in a volcano, the advanced cauldron maintaining the energy it wassupplied with.
- "Very... well then.. I will-" Emily cleared her breath a little. Or- gather it, rather, seeing as it took quite a toll on the young woman. "-I want you to add the core to the potion. It is, uh, better for only you to touch it from now on."
- Perhaps there was some truth to her words. But, mostly, it was just far too gross for the noble to lay her hands on.
- (Emily cos Salis)
- Having given a bit of himself to the core he hoped would be able to return what was lost to him, Revan would observe closely as the vine line tendrils would grow from the new fleshy-seed. Where Emily thought it was gross, Revan could only be fascinated by the disgusting oddity.
- If only Hades could see him now, the expirements he was funding to see that Humanity would continue pressing onwards.
- He hoped his older brother would be proud of him in the afterlife, however, for now it seemed the thick pus would pop and bubble slowly as it grew hotter, the dragon's teeth submerged.
- However, as the alchemist would begin to exert herself to a great extent to power the burners that would bring the cauldron to the temperature it needed, the Overlord would place a hand on her shoulder.
- "No need to push yourself now."
- She likely had engineered the study to react to her lightning magi, so while he couldn't power it directly, he could empower the one who could. His own unbreakable spirit would coarse through her circuitry, imparting her with the strength of the Mountain King so that the teeth would eventually be dissolved into the solution.
- Though it would still likely put a strain on her young body to have such power surge through her body, she wouldn't feel the same drain. With the mention of adding the core, he would nod picking it up with his prosthetic hand.
- The tendrils would stick and bind to his fingers, trying to grow onto any sort of bio-matter it could, yet it was premature, too soon. Holding the core-seed over the solution, mithril fingers would waggles to brush the vines off as it would drop into the thick mucus, slowly sinking in.
- ".. Is that the last step?"
- He would ask, wondering what other steps would be needed before the brew would be ready.
- (Revan orn Task)
- His gesture was silently appreciated. Although his wording would receive a slight "Hmph!".
- After the core too had seemingly dissolved into the mass, it would be time for the last steps. "We'll get this potion to an acceptable state. I'll be adding two water crystals to it in order to give it a white-oil-like consistency. But before that.."
- The noble's hand reached for a small circular box on her desk, screwing it open and revealing its contents. Fairy powder. A whole lot of it.
- "We'll add this. To further increase its healing capabilities."
- And with that, one ounce would be added to the brew. Then? Another. Five ounces in total would be mixed with the cauldron's contents, the heat still cranked up to full, ensuring for the fairy powder to get properly absorbed as it dissolved into the balm-to-be.
- "And.. now this!" It was within grasping range. The Axolotl's healing capabilities hadn't disappointed the young woman. And with a little more enthusiasm, Emily had tossed a single water crystal into the cauldron. Too much would turn it into an actual potion. But this?
- "It'll be a balm. You'll apply it to where you want to regrow the limb." Emily would say as the bubbling turned from oozy to.. less oozy.
- A finger moved to a button on the cauldron, pressing it. Thankfully, it wasn't hot. It was a custom-made, high quality cauldron after all, kept cool on the outside, despite all the electricity flowing through the air. But Revan's prosthetics likely weren't as lucky as the brewing-tool of choice.
- The balm within the cauldron would start to move as the automatic swirler kicked in, slowly moving around. A process that likely wouldn't even be necessary, seeing as the mucus would probably work well enough as a binding ingredient that it'd simply distribute the resources on its own.But Emily just wanted to make sure.
- "Now.. we wait!"
- Emily would lean back a little on her chair saying that, intently staring at her creation.
- (Emily cos Salis)
- It seemed it was the last step for him- atleast until it would take for him to apply it. The Alchemist would take to doing her thing, the water crystals were something he was familiar with, fairy dust was something he knew but never worked with.
- "A palm..? That.. Could work for my arm and leg.. I could remove the prosthetics to apply.. However.. My chest is a.. little more involved.. Could there be some way to drink it to take effect? I know that it'll likely be more painful- but I think it would be safer than.. Removing my chest to apply a balm.."
- He'd ask, though if he needed to go under the knife to be made whole again, then he would absolutely do it. The whirling and buzzing of the cauldron would thrum as it mixed the concoction.
- "Mmh.. Will it take time to settle before it can be used?"
- (Revan orn Task)
- You pick up Cystic Mucus.
- You pick up Dragon Tooth x3.
- You pick up An Axolotl Leg.
- Emily quietly nodded on his question. But the absence of tone in her response was solely attributed to what the Overlord had said before. He was right, Emily knew that. And.. she had promised to make him more than whole.
- "..Well then." The noble stood up, as if everything had been settled, only for her to go through a chest beside the desk, bringing out two more water crystals, and tossing them to the cauldron's contents.
- "I'll explain how it'll work." Emily said, seating herself onto the chair once again. "After you drink the potion, you should be able to regenerate yourself. You'll probably be able to make yourself more whole than ever. Vines you sprout from your body, your nature attuned mana, it'll reshape as your own flesh, just like the core became an extension of you for a brief moment."
- "The reason why you won't just grow Tumors everywhere is because the Axolotl core is attuned to your mana. Meaning you can control it to some extent. But.. it's still probably try to make you grow flesh on the touch. That is why I'll coat it with a layer of cosmic magic. So that it doesn't actually touch you, until you've fully absorbed its magic. Do you understand so far?"
- (Emily cos Salis)
- There was an eager anticipation to turn the entire cauldron upside down right now, Revan despised his metal parts, he had learned to work around them- but with the temptation of being able to wiggle the toes on his left foot again, to not have to grease his right hand.
- To be rid of that metallic cough.
- However, listening to her, it sounded as if it wouldn't be just as easy as drinking it and being done. "I see.. So it'll be up to be ultimately to rebuild my body using the vines as the base components.. The cosmic magic makes it so it can travel to me and take effect where it's most needed."
- A nod of his head, it made sense to him.
- "Thank you, Emily, your work is truly unrivaled! Here'd the remaining total- I really can't thank you enough for this."
- (Revan orn Task)
- While the Task went through all the information and digested what had to be done for the potion to take its effect, Emily remained focused on the cauldron, watching intently to turn it off at the perfect time- Until she heard the praise. Something the noble had quite a weakspot for!
- Standing up from her chair with pride, she'd simply revel in it for a moment before giving him a slow nod.
- "Such is expected of a noble, of course. Being born into a noble lineage comes with the duty of being exceptional. To be an example to the common folk. So, naturally, my work is- Oh it's done already."
- The young noble quickly rushed to her desk again, grabbing a larger flask for the potion. Next, she would push a couple buttons, rendering the swirling process of the cauldron to a halt as various ice-runes glowed up, cooling the potion to a drinkable state.
- Emily would bend down a little and put a hand in front of a hole around the side of the tool, her hand slowly getting infused by cosmic mana, shimmering with a deep blue astral energy. A wave of her hand, and a 'gate' formed in front of the hole. The flask would be held in front of it and a button was pushed.
- -click-
- All that was in the cauldron would now come pouring out of the hole, through the gate of cosmic mana, and into the potion's flask, giving the concoction a blue tint. But it was mostly green-ish in colour.
- "There. All done, Revan Task." The young woman would say, handing him the same flask, while extending her other hand to him.
- (Emily cos Salis)
- Emily cos Salis has cooked a jerky!
- Watching as the state of the art cauldron would ice his drink for him as well as storing it so neatly within the large Flask, a wide grin would spread across his face to patch the pride she exhibited.
- "Mmh, such is the burden of the Extraordinary, isn't it?"
- He wanted to drink it now, but his saintly restraint would take ahold of him. He wanted to drink this infront of Lilly, and perhaps the rest of his family- it would be quite the momentous occasion.
- And he might need the help incase this goes wrong.
- "Thank you, Emily, I'll be sure to keep you in mind should I have any future business or projects in mind.. Until then, take care."
- (Revan orn Task)
