  1. Federation Foreign Relations (Enemies and Allies)
  2. <h>Allies
  3.
  4. Protoss:
  5.
  6. The Federation encountered the Protoss in the aftermath of the Zerg invasion nearly 12 years ago. After repelling the brutal assault on the Koprulu sector by the Zerg, the Federation prosecuted a punitive counter attack that severely reduced the swarm’s numbers, especially after the heavy losses the swarm accumulated during the invasion. The Protoss armada, sensing the Zerg reactivation had arrived to see that the Federation was already beating down upon the swarm before joining them. Since that day the two races have developed friendly relations and joined together to mutually purge the Zerg from the Koprulu sector endeavoring to kill the Overmind and end the threat of the swarm forever.
  7.
  8. Both races have mutual respect due to their achievements as spacefaring empires and after learning that they were both psionic races the bonds of friendship grew stronger with the Protoss tutoring human psionics and offering psionic tech in exchange for Federation resources and technology.
  9.
  10. The strong sense of duty, respect for martial endeavors, belief in service above self, and basic decency exhibited by the Protoss have done much to build up amiable relations with the Terran Federation.
  11.
  12. Factoids:
  13.
  14. -The Protoss and Federation have a mutual defense pact against the Zerg among other alien threats.
  15.
  16. -The Protoss are not involved in any of the Federations other wars and are not well known amongst the galactic community save for the Eldar, who try to stand clear of the Protoss.
  17.
  18. -The Protoss are allowed to visit Federation space as well as Earth.
  19.
  20. -The Protoss have military advisors and experts helping the Psionic Affairs Department with training psionics and researching psionic phenomena
  21.
  22. -Aiur’s location is secret but a few Federation figures have been allowed to visit and roam the planet to learn about Protoss history.
  23.
  24. -The Protoss do not like the Eldar at all and do not allow them in their space.
  25.
  26. -The Nerazim Protoss also interact amicably with the Federation and have treaties and trade going on.
  27.
  28. Alliance of Free Stars:
  29.
  30. The Federation encountered the AFS after meeting the Yehat for the first time and learning of the looming threat of the Ur-Quan. Since becoming an ally of the Alliance rather than a member, the Federation has assisted the members of the AFS solidify their positions on their home planets and build up trade. After repelling the Ur-quan and their battle thralls thirty years ago the Federation has begun to expand slightly into unoccupied space formerly filled by the now extinct Taalo.
  31.
  32. The Federation is by far much larger than any of the members species of the Alliance to the point that they tipped the scales enough to stop the Ur-Quan, especially when the Kor-Ah came back from their exile on the other side of the galaxy.
  33.
  34. The Federation has amicable relations with all the members of the AFS as well as trade agreements and military treaties for mutual protection against the Ur-Quan.
  35.
  36. Factoids:
  37.
  38. -After the destruction of their homeworld and losing all their males, the Syreen have settled on a Federation world and taken male settlers as spouses to ensure the survival of their species. The offspring are considered both civilians of the federation and citizens of the new Syreen republic. The Syreen women due to all being military personnel before the destruction of their world are also auxiliary naval troops within the Federation.
  39.
  40. -The Arilou claim to have encountered humanity before but are surprised at humans developing psionic powers. They also claim to have not known about earth as the Arilou have only encountered the humans of the Coalition of Galactic Republics before meeting the Federation. Although both groups respect their mutual goals and peaceful intentions, their relationship is distant since the Arilou are rather secretive.
  41.
  42. -The Shofixti have a great appreciation of the Federation and admire the Federal military a great deal. Several units of Shofixti auxiliary soldiers have joined the Federation as loan troops from the AFS. They are big fans of action movies especially older human classics.
  43.
  44. -The Mmrnmhrm have requested help from Federation engineers to repair their mother ark so that their species can reproduce again. The Mmrnmhrm seem to have taken a liking to humanity especially since the Federation seems interested in expansion. While the reason for this is not known it is speculated that the aliens were made for colonization and as a result they are happy to help with federation terraforming and exploration efforts.
  45.
  46. -The Yehat also share a respect for the Federation due to their military might and appreciation of honor ethics. Joint military exercises are often conducted between the two and the Yehat are known to assist the Federation abroad with their wars along with the Shofixti.
  47.
  48. -The Chenjesu share technology with the Federation and due to their general pacifism are welcomed in Federation space to trade and travel. The strange crystalline beings are intrigued by humanities psionic powers and other technological advancements. The Chenjesu have established a joint research society where both Federation scholars and Chenjesu scholars can work together. The Chenjesu have a university on earth, the only one of its kind.
  49.
  50. The Yuatja Clans:
  51.
  52. The Yuatja also known as “Predators” by the Federation were at one time enemies of the Federation who fiercely battled for control of planets that the humans settled not knowing they were game preserves 35 years ago. After seven years of fighting the Federation was gifted a Yuatja mothership as a peace offering and trophy for withstanding the might of the hunters.
  53.
  54. Despite their odd ethics and violent disposition the Yuatja have a great deal of respect for the humans of the Federation, enough to treat with them and trade. The Yuatja have been known to work as mercenaries for the federation and since the xenomoprh's metamorphosis into a galactic threat they fight alongside the Federation to end the threat the xenomorphs pose to the galaxy.
  55.
  56. Factoids:
  57.
  58. -Yuatja no longer go to Federation worlds to hunt except to hunt aggressive alien wildlife that may be present.
  59.
  60. -Yuatja refer to Federation as “Steel Hearts” Due to their use of power armor and proclivity towards war.
  61.
  62. -Predators invite Federation troopers and MI to hunting worlds and deal in antiques, they love to collect old human weaponry as well as new ones.
  63.
  64. -Predators have set up a bounty office business for finding wild game for Predators to hunt in Federation space.
  65.
  66. -There is a Yautja cooking show popular in Federation space that focuses on cooking exotic prey.
  67.
  68. The Taung (Mandalorians):
  69.
  70. After the near extermination of the Taung race after a disasterous war against the Coalition of Galactic Republics 40 years ago, the Federation encountered the endangered race during a military skirmish with the Coalition. What came afterwards would become one of the strangest episodes in the history of the Federation.
  71.
  72. Despite being some of the most aggressive and violent xenos species encountered by humanity, responsible for the extermination of countless other races and the destruction of dozens of worlds the Federation took in the scattered and nearly destroyed xenos and made them a protectorate. The Taung, made up of mostly the young, the old and wounded were taken in and allowed to settle on a mostly unoccupied Federation colony.
  73.
  74. Since then the Taung otherwise known as the Mandalorians have sworn loyalty to the Federation and have become a component race of the Federation. The Coalition has since attempted to make their way to the Taung’s new homeworld but so far have been repulsed by the Federation.
  75.
  76. Factoids:
  77.
  78. -The Taung have formed their own auxiliary units to supplement the Federation’s military.
  79.
  80. -The Taung are not compatible with humans despite being pseudo-simians
  81.
  82. -The Taung view the Mobile Infantry as being amongst the greatest warriors known by the Mandalorians and some have been inducted into the warrior rituals and culture after coming into contact with the Taung.
  83.
  84. -Taung try to actively spread their warrior culture to Federation worlds including their prophecy of a “Final Battle” to be fought for the survival of all life in the galaxy.
  85.
  86. -Taung have no psionic potential
  87.
  88. -Taung have made friends with the Yautja, Shofixti, and Yehat due to their mutually martial cultures.
  89.
  90. -Many Taung have citizenship due to their military service and take elections seriously. There are several senators in the Federal Senate who are Taung, representing the sector they reside in.
  91.
  92. -The Taung have against all tradition shown the Federation how to forge Beskar, although they have none to use but what they brought with them after fleeing Mandalore.
  93.
  94. The Alkari Flock:
  95.
  96. The Alkari of Altair are a race of honorable and militaristic pseudo avian bipeds who have become among the most veteran and well respected of the galactic states in the Orion expanse.
  97.
  98. The Alkari Flock are ruled over by a powerful autocrat called the skylord who is viewed as the chosen leader of the chief god of their pantheon, Skree-ak the sky father. Although a dictatorship the Skylord was a position held originally by a powerful warlord who united the Alkari people of numerous breeds into one nation where all Alkari could thrive and live in mutual respect and peace.
  99.
  100. The Alkari are fiercely honorable and disciplined as well as spiritual. Their religious practices place a great deal of emphasis and morally upright behavior and honor. Although they are quite fierce and sometimes prideful they are trustworthy and prefer to fight when needed or when a decent cause is present.
  101.
  102. Their home planet was also at one time a precursor outpost and as such they have numerous artifacts that have been used to research advanced technology. This is a great point of pride for the Alkari who view this visit by the Precursors as a sign of favor and that they were directly influenced by the benevolent ancients.
  103.
  104. Although they are known to be honorable and all around a likable race they are in a brutal rivalry with the Mrrshan who are their arch enemies. Since the Alkari joined the alliance against the Elerians the Mrrshan joined just so they would be on the opposite side of the conflict.
  105.
  106. Factoids:
  107.
  108. -The alkari can glide due to their light bodies and partially retractable wings.
  109.
  110. -The Alkari have excellent hearing and eyesight as well as a superior sense of three dimensional movement which makes them very effective in space.
  111.
  112. -The Alkari are very conservative in their values but are an accommodating and pleasant species. It is ironic that the uptight, highly religious, and principled Alkari are far more tolerant than ultra-liberal Mrrshan.
  113.
  114. -They take amusement in the fact that they are birds while their enemies are cats.
  115.
  116. -The Alkari are great explorers and often send long range scouting parties to map out the galaxy and make contact with other races.
  117.
  118. -The Alkari have a strong and fruitful friendship with the Bulrathi who share very similar ideals and martial abilities,
  119.
  120. -The Alkari have a fondness for wood carvings and they use special chemicals to make examples of excellent carvings virtually immune to wear and tear.
  121.
  122. -Alkari take insults very seriously and view rudeness in very low regard.
  123.
  124. -They are very family oriented with both mother and father having a very active role in rearing children
  125.
  126. -While the Mrrshan are matriarchal, the Alkari are traditionally patriarchal although Alkari society is far more balanced and fair than say Mrrshan society.
  127.
  128. -Alkrari hate snakes and reptiles in general.
  129.
  130. -Alkari typically have excellent singing voices
  131.
  132. The Bulrathi Empire:
  133.
  134. The Bulrathi of Ursa are a race of massive bear-like pseudo mammals that have evolved in high gravity and under harsh conditions. As a result they are incredibly strong and durable.
  135.
  136. The Bulrathi at one time nearly faced extinction as their planet was reaching the point of ecological collapse. It was only the hard work of a group of scientists that worked on terraforming technology that their world was saved. Since then they have become dedicated to protecting nature and being ecological stewards of the worlds they find.
  137.
  138. The Bulrathi are very territorial and naturally aggressive but despite this they have a strong conviction to defend and foster less advanced races. The Bulrathi have numerous protectorate states under their care and while intimidating they can be very gentle.
  139.
  140. Their society is militaristic and oddly philosophical, ruled by an emperor who while powerful and domineering is also oddly tender and amicable. Rather than a self absorbed tin horn autocrat the Emperor best represents the odd paradox of the Bulrathi. Brutal destroyers and peaceful nurturers.
  141.
  142. Their sworn enemies for the Gnolam league whose disregard for the health of worlds they controlled and the brutality with which they exterminated or enslaved more primitive species for personal gain made them most hated by the Bulrathi.
  143.
  144. Since the Gnolam are part of the Elerian alliance and that the Bulrathi’s staunchest ally the Alkrari are part of the Psilon alliance, the Bulrathi have joined the Psilon in order to stop the genocidal ambitions of the Elerians and their pawns.
  145.
  146. Factoids:
  147.
  148. -Bulrathi love to sleep for long periods of time when they are full on food or when they get very warm and comfortable.
  149.
  150. -Bulrathi children are adorable bear cubs.
  151.
  152. -Bulrathi are immensely capable ground combatants as they are able to mop the floor with most any other race with brute strength alone.
  153.
  154. -Most Bulrathi range from seven to nine feet in height and six hundred to one thousand pounds.
  155.
  156. -Bulrathi religious clerics are made up of hags and druids who speak for nature.
  157.
  158. -The Bulrathi speak in Russian accents
  159.
  160. -They hate extreme cold and desert climates and prefer more temperate worlds to settle.
  161.
  162. -Bulrathi like fighting casually as they are hard to injure and have a high pain tolerance.
  163.
  164. -Their alcohol is lethal to all but the most durable species.
  165.
  166. -They aren’t very good at piloting Starfighters, but their bridge crews on larger vessels are top notch.
  167.
  168. -They like giving and receiving hugs from friends.
  169.
  170. -Don’t litter. Seriously, don’t do that. Even if they don’t fight you, an ass chewing by a nine foot talking bear is terrifying.
  171.
  172. -They enjoy hunting and think that people who are opposed to hunting are pussies since they have no respect for the natural relationship of predator and prey.
  173.
  174. -They make some really good stew recipes.
  175.
  176. -Their grandmothers are tough as nails and make very good pies of both the fruit and meat variety.
  177.
  178. The Klackon Hive:
  179.
  180. The Psilon Quanta:
  181.
  182. The Silicoid Crag:
  183.
  184. Karaz Ankor, The Everlasting Realm of the Dawi:
  185. Enemies
  186.
  187. The Tau Empire:
  188.
  189. The Tau Enpire first encountered the Federation on the edge of the Damocles Gulf. First contact was peaceful and diplomatic channels were opened quickly. Water caste diplomats quickly established trade with the Federation worlds in the sector and at first relations were quite positive.
  190.
  191. The Tau empire revealed its multi racial nature and extended an invitation to the Federation, but it was declined. From that point forward relations began to deteriorate rapidly.
  192.
  193. In time reports were made to the Federal government that water caste members were attempting to bribe planetary governors into rebelling and joining the Tau Empire with promises of wealth and accommodation, and that Tau intelligence and water caste agents were attempting to forment dissent in Federation citizens and civilians.
  194.
  195. When it became clear that the Federation was not corrupt enough to subvert from within and that the living standards and Ideological body were too strong to counter, the Tau declared war against the Federation.
  196.
  197. Since then the Gulf has become a warzone for the last 5 years, with both the Empire and the Federation fighting direly for dominance of the region.
  198.
  199. Factoids:
  200.
  201. -Intelligence reports confirm that the Ethereal caste uses some form of blunted psionics to control the Tau population despite their species being otherwise psionically inert, with no potential.
  202.
  203. -Tau do not reproduce on their own but all offspring are the result of samples being taken from Tau citizens and being artificially implanted in a female. Sex is unknown in Tau space.
  204.
  205. -The Tau Sterilize non Tau member races to control their population and to maintain control by holding their whole species hostage via Tau controlled methods of reproduction.
  206.
  207. -The Tau were not aware of the Federations true size and assumed that the sector they encountered was the entire Federation. Since declaring war the Tau have been reorienting their war effort for a prolonged siege in hopes of securing a cease fire by attrition.
  208.
  209. -Tau have no notable allies outside of their member races.
  210.
  211. -Tau are compatible with humans although human traits are dominant (This was found out after some earth caste women gave birth to children fathered by some Federation troops under friendly circumstances.)
  212.
  213. -Tau fire warriors have a standing order to commit suicide to avoid capture and civilians often have similar orders to do the same.
  214.
  215. -Ethereals can hide from psionic detection but can’t stand to be around psychics of other races as it pains them.
  216.
  217. -Etheral mind control seems to only be limited in range and scope, otherwise Tau society is maintained via intense authoritarian rule and state totalitarianism.
  218.
  219. The Citadel Council (Turians, Asari, Salarians, Volus, Batarians, Elcor, Hanar):
  220.
  221. The Federation first encountered the Citadel twelve years ago after the arrival of a federation exploration fleet remotely activated a dormant mass relay. The Citadel defense fleet arrived later, after the federation fleet had left and scouted the region for life. The Federation who had not even been aware of the relay or its activation was surprised to be hailed by an unknown alien military asking for their surrender. The ultimatum led to a tense standoff but before any battle could commence the Citadel considered that they had encountered for the first time a race that did not use mass relays for long distance space travel.
  222.
  223. The Federation fleet was too large and powerful for the Citadel to bully at the time of first contact and so the Citadel forces backed down from enforcing their rules against the activation of mass relays.
  224.
  225. The relations between both factions remained frosty for years afterwards as the Federation did not wish to join the Citadel nor abide by their treaties or customs considering that the Federation lied far outside the Citadels jurisdiction or reach.
  226.
  227. When the Federation began to colonize the Attican traverse this ignited controversy in Citadel space as much of the Traverse was preemptively claimed by the Citadel for colonization. The federation opted to not claim worlds directly claimed but expanded on other worlds in the region, much to the consternation of the Citadel who did not wish for another galactic power to be so close to them, especially one that seemed so militant.
  228.
  229. The Citadel’s posture toward the Federation stiffened further when the Federation responded to Batarian aggression with lethal force at every turn. Punitively destroying their naval assets as a response to all attacks. The brutal extermination campaign of pirates in the region also worried the Citadel greatly due to its severity.
  230.
  231. When the Federation refused to back down or change its standard policy on responding to foreign aggression a war broke out a year ago. A significant contingent of the Citadel combined military and Turian military both responded and have been fighting in the region ever since.
  232.
  233. Factoids:
  234.
  235. -The Citadel covets the FTL capabilities of the Federation but have had no luck in getting any plans or drives even when using espionage.
  236.
  237. -The Citadel doesn’t know what the extent of the Federation is but they worry it is as large as the Citadel (it’s larger).
  238.
  239. -The Citadel doesn’t believe the claim that humans are psychic (They have yet to meet Psi-ops. And live).
  240.
  241. -The Citadel doesn’t have a lot of Information on humans in general and most of the population only has illegal war footage to go on. Many don’t even know what humans look like.
  242.
  243. -The Mobile Infantry are regarded with fear and dread by Citadel forces. Videos of encounters with the MI are often likened to horror movies.
  244.
  245. -Citadel races aren’t allowed in Federation space and so they get turned away from planets or get the push and shove treatment if they show up near space stations or naval yards except to refuel or seek help.
  246.
  247. -Citadel races don’t know about the planet cracker bombs.
  248.
  249. -Although humans and the Federation are obscure figures, caricatures have already been built. Those with footage of humans in the flesh base them off the M.I., who on the Citadel front are mostly super soldiers. They also extrapolate the brutality of warfare with day to day human behavior. Many in the Citadel see them as like the Krogan in temperament but much more insidious and intelligent in application.
  250.
  251. -Vids made both for entertainment and propaganda characterize the M.I. as monstrous and criminal. The Federation is based on what little the Citadel knows and it is misconstrued as a dictatorship led by the Sky Marshall (who is not the head of state).
  252.
  253. -Asari have made low grade pornos with humans featured, although it’s fake because they can’t get any humans. They also can’t decide what human junk looks like and so each production involves lots of inconsistent awkward looking sex. (Many citadels races lack external male sex organs except for the volus, Turians and Elcor but they are all rather odd looking and not built for direct coupling with nonmembers of their races.)
  254.
  255. -Krogans like the Federation mostly because they skull fuck Turians and give zero shits about the council. The watch illegal war footage. They are fans of a M.I. trooper who posts his combat footage while making great use of plasma weaponry and making disturbing one liners involving pyromania and remarks about eating Turians.
  256.
  257. -Quarians know next to nothing but what gets on the news or on the extra net
  258.
  259. -Batarians are terrified of the Federation and have pulled out of the Traverse entirely, especially after the war began.
  260.
  261. -Asari and Quarians are compatible with humans but neither know it yet. The Federation also isn’t aware of this.
  262.
  263. -The minor Citadel races are all mutually afraid of the Federation although they don't necesarilly agree with the council's reasoning for provoking a war.
  264.
  265. The Zerg Swarm:
  266.
  267. The Zerg swarm first appeared at the edge of the Koprulu sector nearly 12 years ago. What followed was a brutal campaign that saw over a dozen colonized world consumed by the swarm culminating in the now infamous Siege of Tarsonis. For over a month the Federation attempted to evacuate as many of the planets inhabitants while simultaneously fighting off the Zerg swarm fleet and fighting their ever growing ground forces.
  268.
  269. The Zerg in many ways were like the Arachnids but they were not a civilization, rather than fight with technology they made exclusive use of their bizarre and abominable biology. New strains of Zerg including anthropoidal variants based on the humans they killed were created along with new organ weapons to best allow them to fight the Federation.
  270.
  271. The creep they grew and their biological buildings allowed them to regrow and regenerate damage and recycle biomass with alarming speed and unlike the Arachnids there was no single way to halt their breeding. The Zerg came in their teeming millions and even death would simply push back the next wave for a few minutes.
  272.
  273. Tarsonis for example was a hell of Zerg streaming like an ocean toward their targets, larger more powerful species using the many weaker versions as shields to reach their objectives. The creep hiding burrowed strains, nydus worms eating through bedrock to deploy countless Zerg behind defensive positions. By the end of the invasion two hundred thousand mobile infantry, and 24 million troopers lost their lives to stop the tens of billions of Zerg that made it to the surface of Federation worlds.
  274.
  275. Out of the 2 billion civilians on Tarsonis, only .4 billion were evacuated while an additional twenty million were evacuated during the siege. By the end of the initial invasion fourteen Federal colonies were destroyed and an additional eighteen worlds were occupied by the Zerg. The Koprulu sector was firmly in the hands of the Zerg.
  276.
  277. The counter offensive launched by the Federation in response was Apocalyptic in scale. 1.6 million Mobile infantry, fourty million troopers, and over one thousand ships made for the largest assault force and battlefleet to be assembled since the Ur-Quan Slave War.
  278.
  279. Tarsonis was retaken with nuclear fire, the great lance batteries carving weaknesses in the continental plates to allow subtectonic torpedoes to annihilate even the most well defended Zerg hive cluster. The vast armies of the Federation swept the Zerg from the field with millions upon millions of adamantine rounds and burned their creep with nuclear fire and plasma.
  280.
  281. Within one year the Zerg were purged from all the worlds in the Koprulu sector save the hellish Char, where even now a massive Zerg hive frantically attempts to break free.
  282.
  283. Soon after Char was quarantined the Golden Armada of the Protoss appeared, and soon the Federation and Protoss formed a joint effort to quarantine the remaining Zerg in a single neighboring sector. Now the Federation and Protoss sharpen their knives in anticipation of the final extermination of the vile swarm.
  284.
  285. Factoids:
  286.
  287. -The Zerg attacked Federation space in an effort to gain psionic genes from the humans.
  288.
  289. -The Zerg over extended in their campaign and when the counter attack came the Zerg were disorganized and confounded by the sudden and massive response by the humans.
  290.
  291. -The Zerg Cerebrates were killed by ghost operatives dozens of time during the war and Psi-Ops even became able to predict when they would reform. One Cerebrate was killed dozens of times during one battle, to the point where he could not relay orders until the battle was lost.
  292.
  293. -The Overmind is currently attempting damage control to the best of its ability but the quarantine and the combined might of the Protoss and humans is weighing heavily on the Zerg’s ability to stand against.
  294.
  295. -The Protoss and Humans are developing a device that can track the Zerg through their hive mind. Soon no Zerg no matter how well hidden or distant will be found. And exterminated.
  296.
  297. -Zerg are hated by the Federation and since the destruction of Tarsonis the Federation as kept a high level of military investment even though the Protoss are present to pick up the slack.
  298.
  299. -The Overmind can sense humanity’s growing psionic powers and hopes to acquire a specimen to infest for a perfect tool.
  300.
  301. -The tactics used against the Aarachnids proved effective against the Zerg. The Federation was surprisingly well equipped to fight the Zerg despite the sudden invasion.
  302.
  303. The Arachnid Empire Remnants:
  304.
  305. Years ago the Arachnids of Klendathu tore a mighty swathe through the galaxy, devouring dozens of races unlucky enough to encounter them. Unified into an empire ruled by a caste of telepathic overlords the Arachnids rapidly expanded into the galaxy at large as an unstoppable industrial juggernaut only limited by the premium on space for its always booming population of pliable, mindless drones.
  306.
  307. The seemingly unstoppable force that was the Arachnid empire was changed forever when one of their colonization fleet first encountered the Terran Federation on the edge of known human space.
  308.
  309. And so began the first bug war, a minor conflict that would only act as a prelude to the brutality to come.
  310.
  311. The five year war was fought primarily on a handful of barely habitable worlds rich in resources. Small expeditionary fleets of both humans and bugs fought while small human ground forces equipped in power armor contested the planets below against teeming hordes of many thousands of arachnid drones and warriors. While not the most trying of conflicts the first war tested the then inexperienced Federation in the fires of war against an alien enemy, as well as validating the creation of the Mobile Infantry as a military branch.
  312.
  313. The second war proved war more costly with both sides escalating to total war as invasion forces landed on contested worlds and colonies. Planets were glassed by nuclear fire and plasma batteries, burrows and cities were cleansed of life and millions of human lives and billions of bug lives were lost in spectacles of aerospace and ground warfare never before seen. The second war came to a head with the disastrous first battle of Klendathu that revealed that the Arachnid coreworlds were by far much more difficult to siege.
  314.
  315. After the death of then Sky Marshall Miguel Sanchez in a brave rearguard action to rescue the last of his troops the Federation withdrew from the theater to reform and re-plan.
  316.
  317. A brief two year silence was followed by the sudden appearance of a massive Arachnid invasion force of the Federation’s core worlds and including the brutal siege of Earth itself. Fighting tooth and nail against the secret armada and then the renewed Arachnid offensive, the Federation began to make use of Psionic trackers and elite MI units to breach and capture the leadership caste and breeding caste of the bugs. The development of the Q-Bomb also allowed for unprecedented acts of destruction as entire bug worlds were shattered. Trillions of bugs were dead as bombs were planed into their subterranean fortresses and as brain bugs were killed. With seven brutal years the war came to a close with the near annihilation of the Arachnid race.
  318.
  319. The war forever changed humanity, transforming a mostly peaceful growing galactic nation into a burgeoning empire forged in the fire of an immense war.
  320.
  321. Now the Arachnids survive in petty states created as backups should the original fall, without any knowledge of the outside world or the death of the home empire.
  322.
  323. Factoids:
  324.
  325. -The Arachnids genetic engineering has effectively changed them into many sub species or a collective of species as whatever original strain has long since disappeared in favor of whatever species are most useful to the empire with older types being culled in favor of newer and more refined strains.
  326.
  327. -The only sapient bugs are the queens and brain bugs who act as the leadership of Arachnid society. If the queen and brain bug should be killed a colony will go extinct in a matter of days.
  328.
  329. -Bugs use warp travel and psionic navigation to traverse the galaxy.
  330.
  331. -Laser and plasma weaponry are favored over kinetic weapons, shields are also standard equipment for warriors.
  332.
  333. -Bugs are extremely durable and can regenerate limbs lost in a matter of weeks.
  334.
  335. -Most warrior and heavy worker strains are cybernetically enhanced.
  336.
  337. -Brain bugs communicate with each other psionically through power psi-boosting radio like devices.
  338.
  339. -Brain bugs have personalities and are honestly not particularly alien in thought.
  340.
  341. -Arachnids are extremely xenophobic and prideful as they see their society as being perfect and best equipped for galactic domination
  342.
  343. -They had allies but usually such allies were exterminated when they were no longer useful.
  344.
  345. -Arachnids intentionally obfuscated their intentions with some races to get their guards down before killing them.
  346.
  347. -Arachnids have mental trauma due to the near extermination they received from humanity. Brain bugs get sick and seizure when human psionics draw near.
  348.
  349. -Brain bugs freak out and beg for their lives if captured.
  350.
  351. The Tyranid Swarm:
  352.
  353. On the eastern fringe of space tendrils of a great devouring creature with a trillion maws are already here.
  354.
  355. The Federation deep space survey corp was among the first of any sapients in the galaxy to witness the coming of the tyranids.
  356.
  357. Small flotillas of fleshy ships propelled by bio-plasma engines, slowly hopping from star to star in search of food.
  358.
  359. It was the survey teams that documented the true nature and terror of the Tyranid at their genesis at a planet called Tyran.
  360.
  361. Early explorers observed fleshy pods not dissimilar to the Zerg explode and cover the forested areas of the planet. In days the spore devoured whatever organic materials to grow various growth and strange biological structures that emitted smog through the air which carried more spores which in turn expanded the territory of alien flora and chitinous structures.
  362.
  363. The next series of pods delivered xeno lifeforms rather than spores. Dozens deployed at a time of numerous squads of aliens of dozens of variants ranging from five foot infantry creature to thirty foot tall walking tanks equipped with biological cannons and close combat weapons.
  364.
  365. The invasion and the outright consumption of the planet was documented just as massive capillary towers began to deliver the worlds entire supply of biomass and most of its fresh water to bulging biological freighters.
  366.
  367. The reports of the infamous vanguard organisms such as the lictor and genestealers came later ofte after witnessing xeno fauna be readily absorbed by the tyranid vanguard before the arrival of the fleets.
  368.
  369. The Federation and most major galactic civilizations have years or even decades before the swarm comes in force but the psychic emanations and the sanity grinding presence that the swarm produces when massed is already noted. Battle plans are being drawn but right now, the Federation can only wait until the time is right to strike.
  370.
  371. Factoids:
  372.
  373. -The Swarm seems to be connected to the warp but at the same time is more of a shadow cat on the warp.
  374.
  375. -The tyranid use gravity manipulation to move between star systems and psionic navigation.
  376.
  377. -The Tyranid are noted to be a synthesis of races like the Zerg, Xeno morphs, arachnids. Capable of co-opting genes to improve themselves, infiltration, long term tactics, and using bio technology that puts even the zerg to shame in the versatility of the Tyranid arsenal.
  378.
  379. -The Tyranid have been spotted by The Federation and several minor xeno races but are as of yet beneath the radar for most others. Although the Federation has informed their allies.
  380.
  381. -The Eldar detected the swarm’s proximity centuries ago as they traversed the galactic gap from Andromeda (nothing of value was lost)
  382.
  383. -The Swarm is being slowed down by the reapers but they aren’t really threatened that much. The reapers on the other hand are probably going to lose a quarter of their number by the time the Tyranid pass by.
  384.
  385. -The Overmind is aware of their coming and is terrified at something so ravenous and alien.
  386.
  387. -The Xenomorphs detected the presence of the swarm and are freaking out and mutating in an attempt to flee or survive.
  388.
  389. The Xenomorph Hives:
  390.
  391. It was in the aftermath of the Hunter skirmishes that the federation became aware of the Xenomorphs. The feral and prodigious parasitic aliens were long used as a game of choice for the Yautja who saw value the the ferocity and bestial cunning the creatures possessed.
  392.
  393. It was a few centuries though that the Predators noticed that the hunting grounds were becoming different and that the creatures were rapidly evolving into a quasi-sapient hivemind united across multiple worlds.
  394.
  395. It was when they discovered the xenomorph ‘empress’ that they decided to exterminate the creatures rather than hunt them as they were developing from prey into a credible threat not only to themselves but to all other sapient life.
  396.
  397. Considering that the humans had proven to be quite competent at exterminating similar threats and that relations had improved the Yautja controllers brought the Federation on board to search the galaxy in a joint mission to cull the aliens before they could reach a point of critical mass and begin conquering territory.
  398.
  399. Now the federation has a dedicated force of ‘bug-hunters’ working alongside Yautja fleets to cleanse world hives of their ever growing xenomorph populations and to hunt for the mysterious and conniving xenomorph empress.
  400.
  401. Factoids:
  402.
  403. -The xenomorphs have begun to form specialized breeds to excel in different forms of combat.
  404.
  405. -Some xenomorph strains can survive in space.
  406.
  407. -The Empress is sapient and mad with fear over the Tyranids who have begun to mentally assault her hivemind
  408.
  409. -The empress and the xenomorphs are by default extremely violent and view all other creatures as prey or breeding stock.
  410.
  411. -The xeno queens can now produce larvae for drones that do not require hosts to grow. Use of the facehugger is now inly to create new strains by splicing genes from desirable species.
  412.
  413. -Xenomorphs can mimic voices of other creatures and will make SOS signals to lure ships they can use to travel between worlds.
  414.
  415. -Xenomorphs can learn to use weapons
  416.
  417. -Xenomorphs can trick sapients into thinking they are friendly and will fain peace until they can kill their targets or board their ships or invade their worlds.
  418.
  419. -Yautja now treasure them even more as trophies not only due to their added lethality but because they will be rare and invaluable as an extinct species.
  420.
  421. The Coalition of Galactic Republics:
  422.
  423. At one time the Coalition was called the Galactic Republic, a shining beacon of peace, economic prosperity and justice.
  424.
  425. In their own eyes that is, or at least that was the set of rose tinted glasses they would like to put on.
  426.
  427. The republic was an assortment of government forged by a set of core worlds that expanded further out into the mid rim away from the galactic core and then accepting members from the outer territories toward the galactic rim.
  428.
  429. It was first and foremost an economic union, with a weak and often laughable joint military. Over the centuries the republic waxed and waned with power, and entered into wars with its perennial rival the Sith led empire. It was after the Mandalorian wars which left the outer rim devastated and the Republic on the edge of collapse that things began to change. The appearance of outside galactic powers previously unseen and unknown, as well as the betrayal of the general Revan and many Jedi before the resurgence of the new Sith empire that at last broke the Republic and forced a reform of dire proportions.
  430.
  431. The core worlds became united under a new emergency coalition which then dissolved the Republic and in the ashes remade itself into the Coalition of Galactic Republics. Rather than be a loose political union the coalition forced the member states to form a vast army and consolidate their economic and political system to combat the Sith and to protect against other foreign powers.
  432.
  433. By the end of the decade the Republic was dead and replaced by a powerful industrial state with vast fleets and large armies. The war with the Sith has been a bitter stalemate but despite the best efforts of the Sith the Coalition has not budged much at all since the great galactic war began.
  434.
  435. The Federation while not directly involved has become a target of the Coalition’s newfound military might for their intervention in the attempted destruction of Mandalore as well as for the Coalition’s fear of another rival state absorbing them.
  436.
  437. Since the reformation thirty years ago the Coalition has tried its best to curb federation expansion by any means, even to the point of engaging in increasingly desperate and deplorable tactics.
  438.
  439. Factoids:
  440.
  441. -The Jedi have been ousted from their lofty position as guardians and quasi stewards of the republic. Now the representatives of the force are a small branch of force users called the Council of Universal Forces.
  442.
  443. -The Coalition does not allow the Jedi to recruit force sensitives in their space anymore.
  444.
  445. -The Coalition is at this point more of a military confederacy but it is not quite a dictatorship as the largest member planets retain their independence outside of military duties while the smaller planets are only bullied for more troops and ships while not being forced to change policy.
  446.
  447. -The Coalition is putting its manpower to use by forming large armies and fleets, awakening the slumbering industrial giant that has long been sleeping due to the republics effete management and hatred of standing armies.
  448.
  449. -The Coalition hates the Federation as an existential threat despite the fact that the Federation really hasn’t shown much if any interest in invading or expanding into their space. The Coalition just assumes that the Federation is planning on it anyway.
  450.
  451. -Despite the use of the council of Universal Forces, the Coalitions doesn’t like force users that much as such the council holds no roles as general staff, this has actually worked out well since the republic admiralty was reformed extensively.
  452.
  453. -The Jedi have their own state more or less based around Tython and many core worlds that have broken away from the Coalition but both they and the Coalition tolerate each other enough to fight the Sith.
  454.
  455. -The Coalition doesn’t grasp Psionics that are not force users.
  456.
  457. -The Jedi and Sith don’t grasp regular Psionics either and don’t understand why the currents of light and dark don’t pull at the others. Somewhere Darth Traya is gloating about the force being evil all along.
  458.
  459. -The M.I. and regular Federation forces still face roll the fuck out of both the Coalition and Sith Empire in open combat, mainly because the dumb fuckers still don’t fight in three dimensions in space or use weapons other than limited missiles, plasma bolts and a few off brand lasers. Also their army isn’t great and their ground tactics suck ass.
  460.
  461. The Sith Empire (New Sith Empire)
  462.
  463. A very recent addition to the Galactic community with only ten years of activity in the greater galaxy since their isolation and build up.
  464.
  465. The Sith Empire has taken over most of the outer rim territories and encroached upon the mid-rim planets of the Coalition but have otherwise become stone walled as of the last two years, resulting in a growing stalemate that has greatly agitated the Sith leadership, especially the Emperor who has begun to voice his displeasure.
  466.
  467. In regards to the Federation the empire is hostile but much like the Coalition they are mostly attempting to curb expansion rather than prosecute a full scale war. Since their appearance diplomats and sith lords alike have approached the Federation government but almost all of these interactions were terse and ended unamicably due to the abrasive and domineering nature of the dark lords.
  468.
  469. Raiders approach Federation colonies to steal civilians and citizens alike to take as slaves, small battlegroups attack merchant vessels, and sith warriors land to take colonies claimed by the federation at Times.
  470.
  471. Since their arrival the Federal army and navy have taken a swift hand to the invaders, destroying their ships and beefing up their military presence on the frontier to the point that most Sith aggression results in catastrophic defeat for the empire.
  472.
  473. Beyond their aggression and attempts at military expansion the Sith hold their position and focus on their stand off with the Coalition for the most part, never really bothering to make a concerted effort to invade the Federation's territory.
  474.
  475. Regardless of their present or future policies the Federal forces remain in position to counter whatever moves the alien empire makes.
  476.
  477. Factoids:
  478.
  479. -The sith view the Federation with genuine fear since their Psionic warriors seem immune to dark side corruption while also proving to be exceedingly dangerous to the sith themselves.
  480.
  481. -The Emperor blames the appearance of the Federation for the reformation of the republic which has forced his hand to reappear centuries in advance of his original plans.
  482.
  483. -Slaves who escape from the empire often make a run for Fed territory since it's actually safer than the Coalition's.
  484.
  485. -The Sith don't understand the psionic powers used by the Federation any more than the Coalition since it isn't forced based.
  486.
  487. -Sith troopers and auxillery forces sometimes defect in masse when sent into Fed territory which has resulted in careful selection processes for those sent into Federation space.
  488.
  489. -Battle plans have been written up for a full scale invasion of the Federation but due to the Great Galactic war they are shelved until the Coalition is defeated.
  490.
  491. -Some captured Mobile Infantry have become successful gladiators and have strong followings among both sith civilians and nobility.
  492.
  493. -Nobility and military commanders often have harems of slaves to satiate their needs (often filled with exotic specimens for the very influential).
  494.
  495. -At least one Psi-trooper is banging a lady sith lord he's using as a double agent.
  496.
  497. The Orks:
  498.
  499. It was the Protoss who illuminated humanity to the threat of the orks, and it was the Protoss who told the federation of the ancient conflicts of the past. At one time the orks were a race of warriors created as a last ditch effort by the Slann, a powerful and nigh immortal race of psionics who had partially dwelled in the warp that feared the necrons and their creators the C’tan.
  500.
  501. When the Necrontyr gave up their wills to become immortal beings they waged war against the Slann by using powerful technology to harm the warp itself, using a real-space engine to forcibly calm and destroy the realm of psychic energy until the Slann had no choice but to leave and reappear in real-space.
  502.
  503. The Eldar were uplifted from their ancient homeworld and made to fight the necrons on behalf of their benefactors but the Silent king and his empire were not bothered even when the C’tan were shattered by the trickery of Cegorach and the Eldar gods.
  504.
  505. It was the orks that tipped the scales in the favor of the Slann.
  506.
  507. The ‘Krork’ as they were called were made servile through an energy based hive mind that did not deprive each individual of a will but uniting them in purpose. Several prime specimens were created to lead the race and to act as the avatars of several slann who sacrificed themselves to control their creations directly as the ‘brain boyz’.
  508.
  509. Fighting the necrons to a standstill and eventually pushing them back, the Necrons disappeared and the war was left to those who remained.
  510.
  511. The Slann were depleted but victorious, and the Eldar and orks both remained.
  512.
  513. It was the Prime orks though, riding high off the victory they secured who challenged their former allies. The Slann who inhabited them grew callous and prideful, as their new bodies were far more powerful and the waagh energy was far more stable and resistant to the counter measures the necrons created.
  514.
  515. It was then that the Prime orks butchered the remaining Slann and made war on the eldar. Unfortunately for the Krork the Slann used their dying breath to chain react the waaagh energy with the last of their power, killing the Prime orks and slaughtering most of the orkish race.
  516.
  517. Now little better than dimwitted barbarians with no leadership or culture to fall back on they descended into savagery and obscurity, leaving the galaxy to the Eldar.
  518.
  519. They would resurge during the fall but the beast and his Prime-orks were slain by the phoenix lords, once more reducing the race to base savagery.
  520.
  521. The Federation is not exceptionally threatened by the orks, but they understand how truly dangerous they can be if they should find a sufficiently powerful warlord like the beast. Efforts are made everyday to cull ork populations that the federation comes across and to guard against Waaghs that pass through.
  522.
  523. Factoids:
  524.
  525. -The orks become more cruel and malicious the more intelligent they grow. When at their least intelligent, the orks are actually far more sociable even to enemies they wish to kill.
  526.
  527. -The orks draw power from the warp but convert it to Waaagh energy which makes it resistant to anti-warp counter measures which includes pariahs but only when enough power is present.
  528.
  529. -The beast and his Prime-orks were not naturally occurring, but made.
  530.
  531. -The orks received tech not used even during the war in heaven from a mysterious benefactor
  532.
  533. -The orks hate the Eldar more than any other race and wish for nothing less than their complete destruction and the desecration of everything they have ever made.
  534.
  535. -The orks are located in small empire across the galaxy and raid far and wide even into the territories of the sith empire and Coalition.
  536.
  537. -The orks like fighting the Federation because they provide the best loot they can use and put up the best fight.
  538.
  539. -The heads of MI are treasured trophies for orks, especially warbosses and warlords who can collect famous or high ranking individuals.
  540.
  541. -The orks are not close to the Federation but their Waaaghs sometimes ram into Federation borders and word has already spread to other ork clans of how good of a fight the Feds are.
  542.
  543. The Eldar Empire:
  544.
  545. Once the Premier power of the Galaxy, an empire of many tens of thousands of worlds and trillions of citizens, but now a shadow of its former glory with but a few dozen craftworlds and somewhere between one hundred and two hundred worlds belonging to them currently.
  546.
  547. Their fall from power began as a result of their experimentation and augmentation on their own bodies as well as their increasingly hedonistic lifestyle.
  548.
  549. Having developed all manner of devices and activities to simultaneously pleasure their physical body and psychic mind they backslid into near constant debauchery and cruelty, using the slaves made from countless races they conquered to work for them or to be used as toys while they attempted to find more ways to increase their sensory abilities.
  550.
  551. In time the Eldar modified their dna with three artifical strands that formed a quintuple helix which granted them countless new bodily features while making reproduction much slower to curb their large population of extemely long lived leisure seekers.
  552.
  553. In time they added new glands to their brain which replaced natural chemicals with designer cocktails which amplified their physical experiences a hundred fold while also developing their psychic minds into cavalcades of sensitivity and vast emotional extremes allowing them to reach highs never thought possible.
  554.
  555. When the inevitable downward plunge came they were dirven completely mad. Riots and insanity driven massacres rocked and devestated the Eldar core worlds, noble families and leadership dissolved in a storm of suicides, murders and psionic driven disasters.
  556.
  557. Daemons appeared from the dark thoughts and cruelty of the Eldar, sending entire worlds into the warp to be torn apart and befouled by negatively charged warp energies.
  558.
  559. Countless billions were slain, entire planets were lost to the warp and the heart of all Eldar civilization was lost.
  560.
  561. Long before this the Eldar wages war against the Protoss who were yet locked in the throes of the Aeon of strife. Now with their core in tatters and most of their population insane, the Protoss launched a counter attack that devestated countless worlds. Warhosts were broken before the march of the Templar and stranger Protoss of a crueler breed.
  562.
  563. Out from the fringes of space came the Krork united beneath the beast and his Prime orks who proceeded to rip and tear and ensalve every world he came across.
  564.
  565. It was only with the coming of the Phoenix lords and the path system that the Eldar were able to cling to sanity long enough to modify themselves into far more stable states.
  566.
  567. The reformed Eldar killed the beast and shattered his Prime-orks and sued for peace with the Protoss who eventually returned to their own affairs and infighting. Leaving the withered husk of their former rivals to rot further.
  568.
  569. Since then the Eldar have become aggressive and reclusive, using their knowledge of fate to halt younger races from destroying or overcoming them. None more so than the Federation whose meteoric rise is foreseen to eclipse the Eldar at their peak and who will eventually survive the Rhana Dandra with the Eldar at their heels prostrate.
  570.
  571. The federation has few official channels beside the psionic transmissions between Ulthwe and Psi-ops command which are often terse and unfriendly, filled with veiled threats and tense negotiation over territory and very stringently regulated trade.
  572.
  573. Only time will tell if the two powers will ever become allies rather than ambiguous enemies.
  574.
  575. Factoids:
  576.
  577. -Humans and Eldar are reproductively compatible and unlike eldar to eldar breeding it is much quicker with a regular nine month pregnancy although the hybrid child will not have many of the enhancements that the Eldar have installed onto their dna through the quint helix. (Although they will be far less mentally unstable and dickish)
  578.
  579. -Eldar craftworlds have the single highest concentration of Eldar in a single location outside of Commoragh with more of the race being located on the craftworlds than the agrarian maiden and exodite worlds.
  580.
  581. -The exodites are still part of the empire and are called as such because they did not become horribly hedonistic and insane due to their self imposed exile. They do not possess the quint helix and are consierably less mentally unstable although not as long lived or capable of extreme highs of emotion and physical pleasure.
  582.
  583. -The path system is not as vital as it is in 40k as the eldar are not so alien in thought and prone to hedonism although still capable of being very kinky and unhinged.
  584.
  585. -Eldar are very enigmatic and their worlds, craftworlds, and fleets are hidden from most factions, only appearing when they intend to. Aside from the Federation and the Protoss they are not well known to the greater Galaxy except for the Ur-quan who have fought them in the past ages ago.
  586.
  587. -The eldar are responsible for the uplifting of the Tau and the psionic gifts of the Etherals. They were originally hoping to have a disposable race that could be used as a beat stick against enemies before being manipulated into extinction.
  588.
  589. -The orks are hated with a zealous fervor by eldar and they wish for nothing less than their extinction.
  590.
  591. -The Protosss are viewed by the eldar as their only true rivals but since the fall they are viewed with more fear than hatred as the Protoss ultimately are united and more than capable of wiping them out. As a result they try to avoid the Protoss as much as possible.
  592.
  593. -The eldar have contacted and manipulated countless other races to do their bidding or to an early demise, all in the name of ensuring that the eldar are not destroyed or replaced as a galactic power.
  594.
  595. -The ultimate goal of the Eldar is to reclaim their empire and their former power, but in a galaxy filled with young vigorous races and their own numbers waning due to low birthrates and attrition, this is slowly becoming impossible.
  596.
  597. The Vulfen Imperium (Stardrive):
  598.
  599. A decidedly minor species of xeno that have expanded enough to control several star systems. These pseudo-canid creatures are aggressive and capable at war and their strong population growth feeds into their growing expansion.
  600.
  601. Since encountering the Federation the Vulfen have postured and engaged in light piracy but are otherwise reserved and refrained from antagonizing the the federation too much. The contact has only been a few months and being far from federation borders this relationship is unlikely to change anytime soon.
  602.
  603. Factoids:
  604.
  605. -The Vulfen have a very strong might makes right ideology and as such will obey and join a stronger collective as long as they are treated well and not exploited.
  606.
  607. -Vulfen like getting belly rubs
  608.
  609. -Aside from some other minor xeno races, the Federation is the fist major power to encounter the vulfen.
  610.
  611. -Vulfen have a knack for piloting strike craft and whlie their engineering isn't great their skill makes up for it.
  612.
  613. -While their scientists and leadership are intelligent, the average Vulfen is rather dim and surly but loyal.
  614.
  615. -They are very tough and are quite capable in ground combat, especially close combat where they employ battle gauntlets with claws built in to fight in melee.
  616.
  617. The Ur-Quan Kzer-Za and their Hierarchy of Slaves (Star Control):
  618.
  619. The green Ur-Quan were first encountered by the Federation in the midst of their conquest of the native space of the Alliance of free stars who formed their alliance specifically to counter the Ur-quan and their battle thralls.
  620.
  621. The war lasted for several years with Federal battlefleets directly engaging the invading xenos while the Alliance dealt with the battle thralls who accompanied their masters.
  622.
  623. The conflict came to a head when the Precursor battle platform, the Sa-matra was leveled at the Federation. While effectively invincible in battle while also supported by the vast fleet of the Ur-Quan, a team of ghosts was teleported inside where they killed the bridge crew and used their psychic powers to terrorize the Ur-quan enough that the shock of being assaulted by psionics forced them into retreat but not before the Ghosts were forced to retreat from the moon's worth of Ur-Quan rushing to retake the bridge of the massive vessel.
  624.
  625. Since then the Ur-Quan have been engaged in the second doctrinal conflict and have refrained from returning to conquer the Alliance or the Federation. The looming threat of extermination or enslavement is still present but now the Federation and the Alliance have had time to grow and prepare for coming onslaught when eventually one side of the Ur-Quan prevail and return.
  626.
  627. Factoids:
  628.
  629. -The psionic attack by the ghost team and the infiltration of the Sa-matra has left a permanent mark on the Ur-quan and now they fear the Federation as much as they hate them. They have begun to contemplate exterminating them rather than making them batle thralls or fallow slaves.
  630.
  631. -The battle thralls of the Ur-Quan near Alliance space all survived the intial departure of their masters but the aftermath proved less kind to some.
  632.
  633. -The Spathi were freed of their status as battle thralls and their planet was cleansed of the 'evil' creatures that hunted them. As a result they are now a protectorate of the Federation.
  634.
  635. -The Illwrath were exterminated after their remaining battlefeets were destroyed. Their planet was imolated by nuclear fire and the last transmission before their destruction was a terrible hymn sang to Dogar and Kazon.
  636.
  637. -The VUX were spared any further aggression but psionic readings into the thoughts of some of their delegation has made their relationship with the Federation icy. One of their diplomats blurted out loud that the human ambassador was hideous. Not a shit was given because such a petty insult should not get in the way of a delegation.
  638.
  639. -The Thraddash had to be pummeled into compliance but accepted the Federation as their 'role models' with the new culture 20.
  640.
  641. -The Mycon were also exterminated as their aggressive, planet ruining terraforming and the genocide of the Syreen signed their death warrant. Nothing of value was lost.
  642.
  643. -The Umgah were initally spared but when they continued to agitate and eventually made the mistep of tossing a radioactive asteroid at a Federation colony as a joke, they got their planet glassed thereby ending their practical jokes forever. Once again nothing of value was lost.
  644.
  645. -The Sa-matra remains in the hands of the Ur-Quan although the ship will be reserved for the victor of the second doctrinal conflict.
  646.
  647. The Ur-Quan Kohr-Ah and their Death March (Star Control):
  648.
  649. The Kohr-Ah have briefly encountered the Federation and a fight occured between the vanguard forces of the death march but with the second doctrinal conflict in full swing the black Ur-Quan have mostly kept to themselves and fought for supremacy against their distant kin.
  650.
  651. Whichever force wins will certainly mean another war for the survival of the galaxy but in the span of years since the first enounter with the Kzer-Za both the Federation and the Alliance has been building up in anticipation of a worst case scenario, which is for both factions of Ur-Quan to unite.
  652.
  653. Factoids:
  654.
  655. -The Kohr-Ah destroyed hundreds of Eldar worlds by using psychic shielding they developed, a technology they did not share with the Kzar-Za. As such the tactic used against the Sa-matra will not work again should the Kohr-ah win or fuse with the Kzer-Za
  656.
  657. -The Kohr-Ah have fought against some of the Arachnid remnants and destroyed them but they did not have the means to destroy the planets where they were dug in below the surface deep enougb to survive a planet glassing.
  658.
  659. -The Tal'darim have fought the Kohr-Ah before and come out on top although not without serious losses.
  660.
  661. -New ships and technology is beginning to phase into the battlefleets of the Kohr-Ah. Soon the Marauder will be second to a newer and much more powerful ship.
  662.
  663. -The Kohr-Ah in terms of raw size and firepower could snap the Reapers over their proverbial knees and would spell doom for nearly any minor galactic civilization as they have to countless before.
  664.
  665. The Mrrshan Pride (Master of Orion):
  666.
  667. The region of space summarily called the Orion expanse has yielded numerous sapient and star-faring races many of whom are very aggressive and will almost certainly prove to be enemies of the Federation
  668.
  669. Among them are the Mrrshan of the Mrrshan Empire.
  670.
  671. The efforts of the Deep space survey corp along with their detachment of psi-ops operatives have done much to give the federation a clear picture of this race of pseudo-felines.
  672.
  673. The Mrrshan of Fieras are a matriarchal feudal society ruled over by an empress and royal family. The Mrrshan are a very fiery and aggressive people, having been brutally efficient hunters on their homeworld before developing a sedentary society.
  674.
  675. The daily life of the Mrrshan is filled with indulgence of base desires combined with vigorous action and labor. The Mrrshan are obsessed with creating luxurious beautiful objects which they trade for resources and equipment.
  676.
  677. Males in Mrrshan perform labor, fight, but are also rather dim and too territorial to be relied upon to act as leadership. Like a pride of lions the day to day operations are handled by females and unlike lions the males no longer have a role as protectors of the pride’s territory, this duty is shared by all Mrrshan.
  678.
  679. They are tensely allied with the Elerians due to their similar goals but the Mrrshan have no intention of bowing to the psychics and have thus far avoided the fate of the Sakkra. This fierce independence is characteristic of their society as the Mrrshan are very willful and generally refuse to be bound by constraints that limit their ability to live their lives as they desire.
  680.
  681. Art, morals, religion, law. All aspects of their society are more suggestions rather than any real command. Despite their seeming opposition to authority the race is united behind their leadership and spurred by glory in battle, conquest of lesser species and the opportunity to explore the galaxy, the Mrrshan are eager to expand and strengthen their empire, especially over their hated enemies, the Alkari who resist their brutal expansion and are in the Psilon alliance against the Elerians.
  682.
  683. Factoids:
  684.
  685. -The Mrrshan are very liberal in their day to day life especially with sex and romance. Since the society is matriarchal, male bloodlines don’t really matter and since males are promiscuous and uninterested in any offspring they sire they don’t make any attempt to change that aspect of their society. A male may never reproduce because he never cared to stake a claim and ensure he impregnated a female.
  686.
  687. -The Mrrshan are very risqué and have a tendency to be sardonic and biting. Small fights are frequent as insults and barbs and general pettiness are just how most Mrrshan act. The only exception is one faces a superior where submission is key to avoid an undesirable personal confrontation.
  688.
  689. -They have a great love of art but at times their tastes can be gross and intentionally disgusting. Their art would be described by more conservative humans degenerate and liberal humans as also degenerate. Death and maiming are popular along with depictions of torture of adversarial creatures such as Alkari.
  690.
  691. -Mrrshan are very warlike and aggressive, and merciless to their enemies. They practice slavery and also enjoy forcing captives to fight as gladiators.
  692.
  693. -Despite being rather xenophobic, many Mrrshan display open xenophilia and interest in non-Mrrshan’s sexually.
  694.
  695. -Mrrshan are compatible with humans.
  696.
  697. -Mrrshan men have spiked dicks and sex with them is not painful but often considered bland and mildly uncomfortable rather than pleasurable.
  698.
  699. -The Mrrshan have a long standing rivalry with the Alkari who they view as their sworn enemies. The fact that they are feline and the Alkari are avian is totally lost on them.
  700.
  701. -Mrrshan view most aliens as being stupid and inferior and candidates for slavery and any who are too crafty and dangerous to fit this mold are instead seen as dangerous and a candidate for extermination.
  702.
  703. The Elerian Fiefdoms (Master of Orion):
  704.
  705. The Elerians of Draconis are a beautiful technologically advanced and psionically capable species gifted with telekinesis and telepathy.
  706.
  707. They are also entirely xenophobic and desire to unleash a galaxy wide pogrom to cleanse it of all life not Elerian.
  708.
  709. Careful examination of this xeno race has shown that they are an exceedingly dangerous threat to not only the Federation but the galaxy at large.
  710.
  711. The Elerians are organized into a brutal matriarchal dictatorship that is entirely controlled by the female warrior caste who are in charge of every aspect of government and society. They are assisted by the male caste of philosophers who act as the society’s scholars and engineers, providing new technology for use by their female overlords.
  712.
  713. Their nations is one of absolute military ambition, expansion and enslavement followed by extermination of all aliens they encounter. They are withdrawn and distant to any faction they cannot directly act against or any that may prove to be capable of defeating them. This behavior is the result of their high level of aggression and plans for galactic domination which demands all non-Elerians be destroyed.
  714.
  715. Their society is honor based but entirely constructed to benefit the warrior caste and to elevate them to greater heights of power and influence. Elerian daily life is starkly contrasted based on sex. Girls are raised by their mother and usually a female lover of their mother for a life of military service and brutal social climbing, her father is always an unknown figure, one who she will either forget entirely or simply be disgusted by due to him being male.
  716.
  717. Males are taken from their birthing pods to the universities to be raised communally by the proctors and philosophers of the Elerians, all of whom are also male. They will spend their time studying and performing research, sharing their thoughts and ideas telepathically in order to speed up research. Their lives are ones of total servitude, and of furtive cowardice.
  718.
  719. The Elerians now control a vast alliance consisting of races they either mentally control through psionic or by simple manipulation and force.
  720.
  721. Their alliance consists of the Mrrshan, Sakkra, Gnolam, Darlok, and Meklar. Their mortal enemies are the Psilon who confound their genocidal ambitions at every turn and have created a counter alliance against them.
  722.
  723. Factoids:
  724.
  725. -The sex ratio for Elerians is 12:1 female to male.
  726.
  727. -Males are very short, frail, and are unattractive looking in comparison to female Elerians.
  728.
  729. -Females are misandrist in the extreme and view all males of all other species with even greater contempt on top of being hated aliens.
  730.
  731. -The psionic powers of the Elerians while active across their species is rather weak. On the Federation scale even their strongest only rank at maybe Eta.
  732.
  733. -Rising through the ranks in the Elerians military caste requires killing your superior in a duel or proving yourself to be better qualified and humiliating them into suicide.
  734.
  735. -Elerians are amazingly petty, even the men are spiteful and self absorbed despite their condition.
  736.
  737. -Elerians casually use psionics on any aliens they meet to lull them into servitude using devices to broadcast commands and if that doesn’t work they exterminate any they can kill easily.
  738.
  739. -Unsurprisingly Elerians are compatible with humans.
  740.
  741. -They are led by a Grand Marshal who is revered as a living war goddess and as the most attractive member of their species.
  742.
  743. -Female and male Elerians do not labor, they have machines to do that for them.
  744.
  745. -Using special methods, the sex of a child can be decided at conception. Elerian women will always give birth to their female children, males are gestated in pods. Many have never seen a woman before.
  746.
  747. -Their society was really fucked up even before they got into space. Their brutally sex segregated society has been around for millennia.
  748.
  749. -They didn’t always have psionic powers. You can take a guess at who was responsible for giving them powers.
  750.
  751. The Sakkra Hierarchy (Master of Orion):
  752.
  753. The Sakkra of Sssla are a dimwitted but prodigious race that have endeavored to overrun the galaxy. For many centuries since becoming space capable these reptilian sapients have attempted to rapidly expand and dominate large swathes of space.
  754.
  755. Their society is simple but industrious although their science and societal development is rather ponderous due to their generally low intelligence as a species. Only the smartest of them can be relied on to perform important tasks as such their leadership caste rules absolutely.
  756.
  757. The Sakkra reproduce to an absurd degree with living ancestors having tens of thousands of descendants within a matter of one lifetime.
  758.
  759. They are militarily aggressive and have been the doom to many a minor species, although they avoid more powerful races that prove far more experienced and intelligent than themselves. For many long years they terrorized the galaxy until the Elerians were able to use the Darlok and their own psychic powers to hijack the Sakkra and use them as their own puppets.
  760.
  761. Now the Sakkra act as the attack dogs of their Elerian masters, doomed to reproduce and be used as cannon fodder for another species until they too are exterminated.
  762.
  763. Before being mind enslaved they were sworn enemies of the Klackon who warred with them for space, and as a result of Sakkra aggression.
  764.
  765. Factoids:
  766.
  767. -The average Sakkra would be considered mildly mentally handicapped by human standards. Although they are still smarter than orks on average.
  768.
  769. -The Sakkra leader is a living ancestor who has the largest share of descendants, and is at least marginally intelligent.
  770.
  771. -They can lay a clutch of ten eggs every year until they are eighty years old. Due to new technology almost all of these offspring will live to adulthood and then reproduce.
  772.
  773. -When Sakkra numbers are too high on a planet they eat the eggs. On some well established Sakkra worlds they are considered a delicacy.
  774.
  775. -Their ships are clunky and don’t work half the time but their navy and army are truly vast and they control many worlds.
  776.
  777. -Sakkra can regrow limbs like many reptilian creatures.
  778.
  779. -Sakkra like eating other sapients and consider eating Klackon the best. The metal carapace to the makes it better.
  780.
  781. -They are essentially a bunch of cannibal, murderous hillbillies in space.
  782.
  783. -No one really minds that they are mind controlled. The Klackon consider it an improvement.
  784.
  785. -They hate the Psilon or did because an ambassador used too many big words. Ones with three syllables.
  786.
  787. The Gnolam League (Master of Orion):
  788.
  789. The Gnolam of the planet Gnol are a disreputable and boorish species, whose greed is only matched by their contempt for other races.
  790.
  791. The Gnolam are able engineers and have a strong commercial and industrial infrastructure but most of all they are among the best merchants in the galaxy.
  792.
  793. Orginally a powerful merchant cartel they fleeced, intimidated, and manipulated the economies of other races to the point of destroying their rivals and reducing them to pre-spaceflight status either by ruining their economy to the point of societal self destruct or by turning against them and using the goods given to the Gnolam to destroy them.
  794.
  795. All in all they are more like a galactic mafia organization than a mercantile empire. Stealing trade secrets, scalping prices, practicing underhanded, downright terrorist like tactics to secure economic dominance as well as funding pirates and mercenaries to do their dirty work for them.
  796.
  797. The Gnolam indulge in wealth and luxury, expending and hoarding vast sums of money all for the sake of acquiring even more money and endless material pleasures and hedonistic displays of affluence.
  798.
  799. Imagine every backhanded merchant state in human history, and turn them up to eleven. The Venetians wouldn’t spit in their general direction.
  800.
  801. They are part of the Elerian alliance if only to avoid a war and to reap wartime profits through the Darlock, Mrrshan, and Meklar to whom they supply equipment and supplies.
  802.
  803. Their sworn enemies are the Bulrathi who despise the destruction the Gnolam bring to innocent spacefaring races and for the desolation and ecological destruction wrought by careless and exploitative Gnolam business practices. The fact that the Bulrathi are honor bound warriors who cherish directness and that the Gnolam rarely fight their own battles magnifies the contempt held by the Bulrathi for the Gnolam.
  804.
  805. Factoids:
  806.
  807. -Gnolam are very frail and weak due to living on a low gravity world. The average human could beat one to death without much trouble.
  808.
  809. -Gnolam rely heavily on trade routes since their worlds are almost painfully specialized.
  810.
  811. -They cherish art and enjoy collecting and stealing various pieces, but have little interest in making any art themselves.
  812.
  813. -They try to steal technology from the Psilon constantly. Part of the reason why the Psilon are so paranoid about others stealing their tech is due to the Gnolam.
  814.
  815. -The Gnolam live in a plutocratic dictatorship where the richest executive lords over their whole race.
  816.
  817. -The Gnolam are basically an ancap meme in the form of a civilization albeit without a hatred for roads and infrastructure except the taxes are lifted off of trade partners instead of citizens.
  818.
  819. -Slavery is very popular in Gnolam space. They collect exotic flesh from all over the galaxy.
  820.
  821. -They have sapient zoos filled with aliens they have encountered.
  822.
  823. -Eccentric Gnolam steal celebrities from other civilizations to force them to do private performances forever.
  824.
  825. - Gnolam politics is the same as office politics only with more domestic terrorism and violent purges.
  826.
  827. The Darlok Cabal (Master of Orion):
  828.
  829. The Darlock of Nazin are an exceptionally reclusive and paranoid race. Their paranoia was so great that the survey corp was very nearly discovered by them.
  830.
  831. The Darlock are first and foremost spies and spooks of the highest order, trained in espionage and subterfuge to match nearly any other race, but with one ability that places them above and beyond most others.
  832.
  833. The Darlock are natural metamorphs which allows them to shapeshift into nearly any humanoid form as well as adopt the smells and sounds of those they copy. This trait is actually somewhat detrimental as their tendency to shapeshift is often unconscious and as a racial trait the Darlock are often paranoid that reality is not what it seems.
  834.
  835. Their populations are very paranoid of each other and are absolutely terrified of aliens. This xenophobia manifests itself in a compulsive need to track and monitor others in order to maintain an edge in negotiations and politics.
  836.
  837. Their society is basically one massive intelligence agency ruled over by the hindmost, a leader who rises by virtue of being a master manipulator among master manipulators.
  838.
  839. They are a rather small community as they did not achieve spaceflight on their own but rather encountered explorers who landed and then were infiltrated and killed before reverse engineering their spaceships.
  840.
  841. Now they are under the heel of the Elerians who have leveraged a military threat towards the Darlock homeworld in exchange for cooperation in their alliance.
  842.
  843. The Darlock have no sworn enemy among the Psilon alliance as they are a young race to enter the galactic stage.
  844.
  845. Factoids:
  846.
  847. -Darlock are few in number with only a handful of star systems to their name, but they make up for this small size by being exceptionally well connected and having agents everywhere.
  848.
  849. -They can alter their shape but not their mass
  850.
  851. -They can mimic DNA so biometric scanners won’t work to a certain extent.
  852.
  853. -Psionics can pick them out which is part of the reason why the Elerians have them by the balls.
  854.
  855. -Their society is genuinely filed with day to day paranoid and many Darlock don’t think that anything they encounter is real.
  856.
  857. -If they ever had an original form they have no recollection of it.
  858.
  859. -The concept of identity really rustles their jimmies since they have no proper sense of self and copy others but still feel unsatisfied.
  860.
  861. -They are easily startled when not on assignment. A loud noise can reduce them to a goopy substance, which is why they wear special suits to keep their shape together in day to day life.
  862.
  863. -They are extremely hard to harm without extreme force or energy application due to their fluid forms.
  864.
  865. -Electrical shocks instantly paralyze them.
  866.
  867. -Big solid things frighten them since such things are the opposite of themselves.
  868.
  869. -They are normally terrified of any alien they come across and don’t like physical confrontation because while they are very hard to kill they aren’t good at fighting.
  870.
  871. The Meklar Combine (Master of Orion):
  872.
  873. The Meklar of Meklon are a race of cybernetic creatures that have long since ceased to be organic in any meaningful way save for organic components in their bodies.
  874.
  875. In truth the Meklar combine is a singular AI that has struggled to power its CPU and has spent most of its time trying to research a way to increase its power source and programming to complete a very odd objective.
  876.
  877. To monitor the entire galaxy and then the universe.
  878.
  879. Each Meklar units is more or less a puppet of the AI with multitudes of lesser programs gibbering madly in their self contained mega servers across their worlds. Their mechanical nature allows them to tirelessly work, build and expand at extreme speeds.
  880.
  881. Despite their mechanical nature their consciousness is chaotic due to the number of programs present but with the added benefit of being oddly unpredictable for a machine race.
  882.
  883. They lack morality as almost all AI do and seek only to expand their capacity for energy and monitoring.
  884.
  885. They have ended up working for the Elerians but for no apparent reason as the Meklar approached the Elerians rather than the other way around.
  886.
  887. They are arch enemies of the Silicoids for unknown reasons although it may be becaue the silicoids are extremely old and experienced, a trait the Meklar combine envies.
  888.
  889. Factoids:
  890.
  891. -The Meklar are a singular consciousness with subdivision programs to simulate different minds, all in order to come up with unique ideas, a type of mechanical creativity.
  892.
  893. -The Meklar will expand rapidly and take additional planets, annihilating anything that gets in the way. They exterminate anything that provides an even minor inconvenience to their goals.
  894.
  895. -The Meklar still require food to support their partial organic bodies although the amount of food is very small per individual.
  896.
  897. -The Meklar frighten and disturb nearly anyone they meet.
  898.
  899. -At one time they were a weak fleshly race but eventually began to modify themselves. Then an AI overseer took control and assumed direct control of the entire race as the only true consciousness.
  900.
  901. -They are immune to psionic control for the most part but their fleshly parts make them more vulnerable than a pure synthetic.
  902.
  903. -Meklar hate AI that like organics since the Combine views organics as an obstacle to its goal of monitoring the entire universe.
  904.
  905. -The combine if it were interacted with would have a personality resembling a mix of a brutal sociopath and an ultra autistic individual.
  906.
  907. -The Meklar are being controlled by another entity.
