The scent of a freshly brewed coffee waffled through his nose. Candlelight illuminated the study. A collection of leather-bound books were visible behind him, which he paid no heed as he continuously write at his journal. After jotting down a few sentences, he put down the pen and picked up the cigarette from its ashtray beside him. He took a long drag before blowing a formless cloud of smoke. He leaned back, the office chair groaned as its limits were pushed. His mind slowly wandered at the blurred faces in his mind.

He longed for a warm embrace which he felt from someone he has no recollection of.

"Who are these people." He rhetorically asked himself as he stared at the writings on his journal. The resident psychiatrist had advised him to write every thoughts in his mind so that he could cope with his problems. He reminisced the engagement that took place earlier. He tried to remember the face that appeared in his mind. Was she his mother? Sister? A friend or perhaps a lover? He wasn't sure but he knows he was drawn to the figure in his mind.

A knock suddenly woke him from his trance. He derailed his train of thoughts as he took a last drag in his smoke before putting it out on the ashtray.

"Come in," he instructed.

The door slid open with a hiss. Captain Alexander Bobkov entered, blue eyes immediately scanning the contents of the room.

"So the rumors were true, you like old fashioned things." Alexander said with humor but his tone was emotionless.

"Yes, it makes me remember things..." He lied.

Bobkov smiled.

"I'd like to commend you for your actions earlier, del Corazon. But I see you can be reckless sometimes." He said, hinting at the action that Miguel pulled off with the Potentatus earlier that blew up in front of him when he bayoneted it from behind.

"Yes," was the only thing Miguel ever said. He has no explanation why he did that.

"Anyway, I am not going to waste more of your time, you deserve rest." He paused before continuing. "We will be deployed in Malaysia three hours from now. Grey Pythons activity were detected in Sabah and the government of Malaysia has required our assistance."

"So, we're going to thwart another terrorist operation?" Miguel asked.

"Yes and I expect you to be fully rested for tomorrow."

"Yes, sir." Miguel saluted at the Captain, who returned it.

When Captain Bobkov left, Miguel walked past to his journal. He fished for the necklace in his pocket and studied it momentarily. It was a locket that bore no image but a name carved on the cover that says, 'Amelia'.

He shook away his thoughts as he moved towards the bed.
