  69. <ProcyonDM> It's shredded in a matter of seconds

  71. <ProcyonDM> It then fades again into the fog
  72. <ProcyonDM> There's nothing but steel mulch, mulch that you realize makes up the ground
  73. <ProcyonDM> Gravel
  74. * Carmen_Chapman listens to hear if the rumbling is getting quieter
  75. <ProcyonDM> The rumbling fades entirely

  117. <ProcyonDM> You see what looks like a 2~ story plateau
  118. <ProcyonDM> You can't see much else in the fog
  119. <Maddox> "Think something might be up there?"

  121. <ProcyonDM> As you approach you see a rope ladder painted grey
  122. <ProcyonDM> "I hope it's just a weird plateau"
  123. <Carmen_Chapman> "Probs not"
  124. <Carmen_Chapman> "P much everythin in this game is crazy!"
  125. * Maddox tugs on the rope ladder a bit to check its strength
  126. <Carmen_Chapman> "I was Xploring round on my place like a pioneer n shit n I found a HUUUUGE pyramid with a lake inside!"
  127. <ProcyonDM> You approach and now see another glowing rock far to your right
  128. <ProcyonDM> You pull on. It and it seems solid

  130. <ProcyonDM> But when you do so a bear pops up and points a spear at you

  142. <Maddox> So 20 feet up?

  145. <Maddox> Somewhat quietly, I ask, "Bad time to arrive?"
  146. <ProcyonDM> At the front of it is the glowing rock and suddenly anther crab appears
  147. <ProcyonDM> "Take a look" he says
  148. * Maddox spawns two telekinetic instances
  149. <ProcyonDM> The entire plateau gets up on dozens of legs and ppunces on the crab

  151. <ProcyonA> i should probably describe some more
  152. <ProcyonA> So i said the word plateau repeatedly because the massive crab thing that the bear was on the back of was a bit sunken into the ground, like it had burrowed a bit to camoflouge itself.

  179. * Carmen_Chapman looX back and forth in amazement between where the ladder was right in front of her and where it jumped to, watching the crab getting torn to shreds
  180. * Maddox watches as well, fascinated.
  181. <ProcyonA> While it eats the other crab, several bears you hadnt seen, all camoflouged, jump off its back and walk towards anothe rbear who had fallen off the smaller crab
  182. <ProcyonA> he has a spear as well, made of bone and a sharp rock, and is trying to fend the attackers off. eventually he gives up and flees into the dark.
  183. <ProcyonA> The bears then turn their attention to you guys.
  184. <ProcyonA> They approach you, spears draw. they seem to knwo how to use them as well.
  185. <ProcyonA> "Outsiders."
  186. <Maddox> "Woah. We're not hostile."
  187. * Carmen_Chapman turns to them in surprise
  188. <Carmen_Chapman> "Yeah dudes put that shit away!"
  189. <ProcyonA> they do after a while.
  190. <ProcyonA> "We reserve the right to be suspicious" says the one in the middle.
  191. <Carmen_Chapman> "Fair"
  192. <ProcyonA> Another comes up and says "They were found attempting to clim the rear starboard ladder.
  193. <ProcyonA> "For what purpose were you mounting our crab?
  194. <Carmen_Chapman> "Uhhhh cuz we were curious whats up there???"
  195. <Carmen_Chapman> "Haha we didnt even know it was a crab u guys got us good!"
  196. <ProcyonA> "Indeed, excellent work to our camoflogue artist."
  197. <ProcyonA> two of the bears elbow another one in congratulations and the bear gives a toothy grin
  198. <ProcyonA> "Now youve seen. ARe you satisfied?"
  199. <Maddox> "Yes. Well, what were you doing that for? The crab meal?"
  200. <ProcyonA> "our crab must eat. It is too large to subsist on the rock alone."
  201. <Carmen_Chapman> "U guys were kinda mean to that other bear dude u chased off!"
  202. <ProcyonA> "it protects our livlihood and we direct it to meals."
  203. <ProcyonA> "We were merciful. If we had killed him it would have meant less competition."
  204. <ProcyonA> "not everyone can say they do the same."
  205. <ProcyonA> say they are merciful
  206. * Maddox 's eyebrows go up, but he doesn't say anything.
  207. <Carmen_Chapman> "So u guys got like competin gangs n shit?"
  208. <ProcyonA> "Yes. Scarcity drives us."

  210. * Carmen_Chapman sighs, kind of disappointed
  211. <Maddox> "Does your crab also fight off the monsters?"
  212. <ProcyonA> When he says that the other bears put their fist to their chest and then point it to the air.

  214. <Carmen_Chapman> "Soooo like... whaddya guys do out here?"
  215. <Carmen_Chapman> "Its kinda empty n just foggy everywhere!"
  216. <ProcyonA> "We hunt, primarily.

  218. <ProcyonA> "No, we eat mushrooms that grow on the backs of our crabs, and the small amount of fauna that congregate around the rocks."
  219. <ProcyonA> "Water is found at certain watering holes."
  220. <Maddox> "Wow. There really is nothing around here."
  221. <ProcyonA> "It is a bleak life."
  222. <ProcyonA> "The fog erodes any hope of permanent settlments."

  224. <Maddox> "That really sucks. Well, have you ever seen a spinning circle in the air, glowing?"

  226. * Maddox moves his hand up to about shoulder level.
  227. <Maddox> "It would only be about this high."
  228. <ProcyonA> "There are a few of those o the outer reaches of this land."
  229. <ProcyonA> "they are left alone as the land which they reside in is barren."
  230. <Carmen_Chapman> "Huntin n foragin n stuff sounds p hardcore like pioneers or some shit!!!"

  236. * Maddox scratches his head, feeling bad for them, but also not wanting to share his home with at least a couple dozen scrappy bears
  237. <Carmen_Chapman> *u think those peeps in the city thingy u found could help?*
  238. <Maddox> *Maybe? They had worse problems though. Maybe if these guys go and....*
  239. <Maddox> *...never mind. There's no way anyone could beat that thing.*
  240. <Maddox> "Well, could you point us in that direction?"
  241. <ProcyonA> "We traditionally make a trip to the watering hole now."
  242. <ProcyonA> "You may ride with us until then, then yes we will direct you but go no further."
  243. <Maddox> "That is fine. Thank you."
  244. <ProcyonA> Two bears get the ladder ready.
  245. <ProcyonA> The rest filter away.
  246. <ProcyonA> "Know this, though.
  247. <ProcyonA> "Any misconduct will be treated with extreme offense."
  248. <ProcyonA> "Do not betray my trust."
  249. * Carmen_Chapman shrugs
  250. <Maddox> "Understood."

  252. * Maddox climbs the ladder, provided the bears seem ready for it.

  254. <ProcyonA> You get a better view of the back of the crab and its quite a sight.
  255. <ProcyonA> Its flat, very flat, and on it are what appear to essentially be amenities
  256. <ProcyonA> THere are beds, several storage chests and tanks, and chairs and fireplaces
  257. <ProcyonA> It seems the crab doesnt mind, and that the consorts live here.
  258. <Carmen_Chapman> "This is a p sweet place u got up here!!!"
  259. <Carmen_Chapman> "S like a whole village!"
  260. * Maddox sits against the wall, too afraid to touch anything in fear of giving offense.
  261. <Maddox> ((If there are no walls/railing, he sits against the side of the fireplace.))
  262. <ProcyonA> There are actually no walls
  263. <ProcyonA> No walls, no railings, no roof, no safety of any kind
  264. <ProcyonA> You plop down near the fireplace and some of the bears come and chill too.
  265. <ProcyonA> They just stare at you kind of

  269. * Carmen_Chapman remains standing, looking around

  276. <ProcyonA> Some of them are carved to look like bears, or crabs, or underlings.

  286. * Maddox sits there awkwardly, viewing the marble carvings

  288. * Carmen_Chapman summons her captchalogue tree, rifling through the leaves
  289. * Carmen_Chapman pulls off the leaf for the circus tent carving she made with Lizard Bob Ross
  290. * Carmen_Chapman shows them the wooden carving

  292. <Carmen_Chapman> "Jus wood though Idk how to do roX"
  293. <ProcyonA> They ooh and aah
  294. <ProcyonA> "We can teach you!"
  295. <ProcyonA> You notice now these bears... seem pretty smal
  296. <ProcyonA> theyre kids
  297. * Maddox turns to Carmen
  298. <Carmen_Chapman> "Awesome!!!"
  299. <Maddox> "We? I don't know anything about carving."
  300. * Carmen_Chapman playfully punches MaddoX on the shoulder
  301. <Carmen_Chapman> "Well now ur gonna learn!"
  302. <Carmen_Chapman> "Bout time!"
  303. * Carmen_Chapman laughs a bit
  304. * Maddox shrugs, not feeling like more in this atmosphere
  305. <ProcyonA> Shall we montage this bit because i know jack shit abuot carving
  306. <Carmen_Chapman> Sure.
  307. <Maddox> Sure.
  308. <ProcyonA> The bear who waws talking to you walks up.
  309. * Carmen_Chapman elbows MaddoX lightly, whispering to him as they go off to carve
  310. <Carmen_Chapman> *try n be a bit happier im tryin to cheer them up!*
  311. <Maddox> *I'll try.*
  312. <ProcyonA> He looks on disapprovingly and says we rae here
  313. <ProcyonA> "We are here."
  314. <Maddox> "Thank you for the ride."
  315. <ProcyonA> You notice the fog getting much lighter as the crab walks for a bit.
  316. <ProcyonA> It becomes almost not even noticable and ytou find yourselves in a large lake.
  317. <ProcyonA> Its water is a bit irridescent, but whenever anyone appraoches the lake, the iridescence leaves and backs up.
  318. * Carmen_Chapman decaptchalogues a couple of the smaller wooden carvings she has and gives them to the younger bears as thanks for teaching her about carving
  319. * Carmen_Chapman puts away her practice stone carving before standing up and watching their approach
  320. <ProcyonA> There are several other crabs, even one bigger than this one
  321. <Carmen_Chapman> "Daaaaaang"
  322. <Carmen_Chapman> "Thats a big crab!"
  323. <ProcyonA> The arrival of this crab seems important.
  324. <ProcyonA> like its caused a bit of a stir.
  325. <Carmen_Chapman> ((this crab being the one they're on right now?))
  326. <ProcyonA> Several other bears approach it and regard it with respect.

  328. <ProcyonA> Theres about 50~ people gathered at the lake
  329. * Carmen_Chapman waves hello to some of them, not saying anything lest she get in trouble
  330. <ProcyonA> There are also tiny crabs, the size of normal earth crabs drtinking at the lake as well.
  331. <ProcyonA> The bears wave back in curiosity.
  332. <ProcyonA> Another grizzled looking bear approaches.
  333. <ProcyonA> THe lead bear in this crab regards him and stands up straight
  334. <ProcyonA> alrght time for a na,e
  335. <Carmen_Chapman> name?

  337. <ProcyonA> They regard eachother.
  338. <ProcyonA> "Sonny." Your captain says to the other captain.
  339. <Carmen_Chapman> Bearnard
  340. <ProcyonA> "Bearnard." He replies.
  341. <ProcyonA> "Youre looking well." says Bearnard.
  342. <Maddox> ((Laughing at that bear name. So perfect.))
  343. <ProcyonA> "We've had luck, as, it seems, has Bearnard and sons."
  344. <ProcyonA> "I cant complain."
  345. <ProcyonA> "We've also befriended the players. Can you boast the same?"
  346. <ProcyonA> sorry bearnard said that not sonny
  347. <ProcyonA> "I see that you have, and perhaps, given time..." Sonny waves behind him and a bear approaches.
  348. <ProcyonA> He proffers the object the bear gave him, and intricately carved piece of marble webbed with veins of the glowing rock.
  349. <ProcyonA> Theres an ooh and ahh from the crowd that has gathred.
  350. <ProcyonA> this is apparently a very generous gift.
  351. * Carmen_Chapman also "oooh"s
  352. <ProcyonA> "I would also have that honor." finishes sonny.
  353. <Carmen_Chapman> ((the other bear is offering a gift to our captain or us to be able to befriend us?))
  354. <ProcyonA> its a present, a token of respect and friendship to you guys
  355. <ProcyonA> its up to you on how to accept it.

  358. <ProcyonA> The crowd waits to see if you accep tit.
  359. * Maddox looks at Carmen
  360. * Maddox looks back at the bear.

  362. <ProcyonA> "Nothing" says sonny. "It is simply a gift, call it a kickstarter foir our friendship."

  365. * Maddox accepts the gift.

  369. * Maddox pulls out his bookshelf, and rifles around.
  370. * Maddox pulls out a slab of uncooked meat, decently large.
  371. <Maddox> "I'm not sure if you'd like this, but here you are."
  372. * Maddox puts away his bookshelf.
  373. <ProcyonA> They marvel at the meat.
  374. <ProcyonA> "we have heard tell of this delicacy, but never in my life..."
  375. <ProcyonA> Sonny is floored by your gift.
  376. <ProcyonA> These guys are going to be easy to impress.
  377. * Carmen_Chapman pulls out her captchalogue tree and pulls off a leaf for some Lightworks
  378. * Carmen_Chapman turns to their captain Bearnard and Xtends a several of them to him
