  1. “Babies are made, Clash, when a man and woman each provide a special part of themselves. The two parts combine, and in doing so become the start of what will eventually grow into a baby inside the woman, and who will eventually be born. When a baby begins to form inside a woman, a woman’s mind joins with it. The mind tells the body what to do to keep the baby healthy, to let it grow…the minds ‘talk’, sort of. Now, when a baby first begins, they are of…let’s call it clay. Not actual clay, that’s just the term we will use. Babies begin as clay, and as they grow the clay is shaped into all of our parts. Bones, muscles, blood, organs, all of it. The clay must be able to become all of us, and so it can.

  3. “Now, when a man and woman provide each of their parts, sometimes different things happen. Sometimes two combinations happen instead of one, and two babies are born. Or there is just one combination, but as it begins, it splits in two, also becoming two babies. But…our bodies are very, very complicated. So sometimes, two babies are formed…but only one begins to grow. The other just…does not. When this happens, sometimes the baby that grows just takes the clay back into itself, and the clay becomes part of it. But sometimes…the clay is taken in, but does not become part of the baby. It remains in the baby, still a lump of clay. And sometimes it just remains there, tucked away in the baby’s body, as they are born and grow, harmless.

  5. “But, as this ‘clay’ is meant to become all our parts…sometimes it does that. But since the becoming has been so altered…it does not form properly. The clay becomes random parts of a person. It becomes hair, teeth, other parts of the body…somewhat gross, but it is still just a small lump in the body, sealed up, doing no harm. But because the clay can become ANY part of a person…sometimes, the clay changes itself into parts that make up our brains. Now, this tiny little brain cannot do anything. The brain is the most complicated part of our body, and in such a small, altered form, the brain in the lump of clay may as well be extra skin, or hair. The problem arises if the baby, while growing up, senses the brain cells inside the lump. If the baby was a girl, then…the brain in our heads can make mistakes. And one mistake is that it senses the brain within the lump of clay…and believes it to be a growing baby. So it attempts to form the connection as how a pregnancy would go…

  7. “But it’s not a baby. It doesn’t respond. But the brain can’t understand that. It just keeps attempting to do what it has been long made to do. The error begins to grow. The brain starts to change because it’s devoting energy to something that is not responding properly. And sometimes, this happens by the person…changing. They stop acting like themselves, begin acting like someone else, someone completely different. It’s not their fault. They’re a victim of incredible bad chance.”

  9. TL;DR: Aggie has an incredibly rare medical condition that likely played a role in the mental issues that led to Medusa.
