—personality description: moon seokmin, in a few words, is the type of person who isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in. her resolve in her principles is so strong, to the point where sometimes it can seem like she doesn't know where to stop. growing up in a very liberating household with two parents who only wanted the best for her, she was taught from a young age that her opinion is just as important as that of anyone else. as a result of her upbringing, she's very outspoken, to say the least... not to mention crass -- in fact, she actually has a bit of a problem with swearing (and although she might claim it just "slips out," she really doesn't care.) additionally, seokmin is extremely opinionated on many things, which leads her to repeat things she says a lot. her beliefs are the strongest, though, when it comes to women and their rights. she cares a lot about how females are depicted, as well as their representation in the media and society, and for the life of her, she CANNOT stand the clear cut stereotypes that society has put out for the youth. she isn't very fond of the predominant ideal that all girls should fit the "cutesy" mold, and will do anything in her power to undermine the thought that whiter skin is better. seokmin also despises the general homophobic vibes that come from many people, and is strong supporter of the lgbt+ community, although she might not be a part of it. she has A LOT to say about a variety of things, and is most definitely not afraid to protest if she believes that something is unjust or not right. if we're being honest, she's probably the definition of stubborn -- in fact, she's that person who won't give up on her statement even if she's extremely deep into an argument, and then realizes she's wrong. she also might, on occasion, accidentally pick a fight while getting too passionate about something, but overall, she's well versed in the subjects she chooses to talk about. during her high school days, there is no way you could deny that she was a total nerd, through and through; if you wanted to talk to her, you would most likely have found her stuck in a corner, studying harder than she should have been. of course, with a near genius iq, most people thought that she was wasting all her brains when she chose to pursue music (to which she would stiffly say the life she's leading is her own, and if they don't like it, they can kindly fuck off.) seokmin is a very driven person, with perseverance people can only dream of -- when she has her mind set on a certain goal she hopes to achieve, its practically impossible to get her away from it.

—background: ever since she had been a small child, seokmin's parents had always been caring in every way possible. they weren't very conventional, and wanted their daughter to grow up without the restraints that society has. most people were surprised that they opted to let her, well, be her own person, rather than suppressing her as most often do. when she was very young, they began to notice her interest in music, so naturally, the decided that they would do their best to cultivate it. and people were once again shocked, because the aptitude she had shown in her studies could lead her to a... promising career in medicine or law or literally anything else that could be considered "actually" important. of course, her parents paid no mind, and proceeded to place her in lessons for the violin, piano, and guitar, as well as for her voice. her passion grew over time, and even though she ended up focusing A LOT (probably too much, if we're being honest) on her studies once she reached that point, music was always in the forefront of her mind, and she never forgot her love for it. as seokmin reached high school, something that also became apparent was that she wasn't a very... girly girl. her parents, of course, were fine with her being outside the traditional standards of korea, and that was all she needed. their family was extremely tight knit from the moment she was born, which is why it wasn't very surprising that her parents almost immediately decided to move from busan to seoul when seokmin approached them with the mere idea of her becoming a trainee. they were literally willing to give up anything for her to pursue her dreams, and with so much support from her parents, she had no problem auditioning for a company and getting in -- and if we're being honest, her parents were more excited when she made it in than she was.
