  30. How to use: With this code enabled, start a new file and save after Peach’s dialogue on the airstrip. From then on, that save file will let you skip most FMVs in the game as if you had already watched them.

  46. *While technically two different FMVs played back-to-back, these are timed together as it's almost impossible to skip one perfectly while playing the other one in full.

  48. Q: Can I use this to make a run and submit it to speedrun.com?
  49. A: No, a Super Mario Sunshine speedrun that starts from anything else than an empty file will be rejected from the leaderboards. Race file is allowed for the 20 Shines category, but a save file made with this code still isn’t.

  51. Q: What about people who can’t/don’t want to use this code?
  52. A: The file has no other effect on the run than allowing you to skip FMVs, meaning the time saved by using it is constant and can easily be accounted for. If anything, using this file gives you an extra chance to lose time by not skipping cutscenes optimally.

  54. Q: Using cheats during a run is cheating, why do I need to point that out?
  55. A: No cheats are required during the run, nor is the save file loaded with some exploit. All you get is a save file that tells the game “I have already watched this” for every FMV that you couldn’t otherwise skip.

  57. Q: If you’re going to start from a non-empty/hacked file, why not just give yourself 120 Shines while you’re at it?
  58. A: The reason creating this file involves a cheat code is to skip all the intro cutscenes of the game while preserving all gameplay. Not even the airstrip is lost.

  61. A: These are specifically left untouched, again in order to preserve gameplay.

  63. Q: What if new glitches allow to skip other FMVs at some point?
  64. A: … yeah, that would be trickier to handle. I can still make a code that only skips the intro cutscenes if that’s an issue.

  66. Q: What if someone finds a legit way to die on the title screen?
  67. A: Then we’ll all run reset timing together in harmony.
