  1. 1. (2 points) Daedalus told Icarus not to fly too high because if he goes too near to the sun the wax will melt and he will fall out of the sky.
  2. 2. (2 points) Phaeton asked his mom for proof that he was Apollo’s son and then his mom told him that he can go ask Apollo himself by going to the sun palace and asking Apollo himself.
  3. 3. (Skip)
  4. 4. (3 points) Apollo showed human qualities such as love, he loved Clyphene and had a child named Phaethon. Apollo loved Phaethon because of how daring and handsome he was. Apollo then showed that he also needs to keep a promise just like humans and promised him anything. Phaethon than asked to drive the sun chariot, that didn’t work then he died. Apollo not able to break his promise then kept his promise and granted it.
  5. 5. (3 points) The attitude of the ancient greeks towards human nature is that you shouldn’t get too cocky. In the myth Phaethon he was too cocky thinking he is better than the gods and the greeks tried to make people not try to challenge the gods. In Icarus myth he tried to fly high into the sky like a god but he failed and died.
  6. 6. (4 points) No, I don’t think so because if a real person was flying in the air for the first time when planes were never invented and never went that high, you would be scared. No Icarus isn’t believable, first of all you would suffocate if you were that high up and second for someone who never flew before he seemed pretty ok with it and wasn’t scared at all. No, I don’t think anyone can relate to Icarus because they would be scared and wouldn’t try to fly that high up not listening. I feel like a normal person would have listened because this was their first time flying and they wouldn't want to fall and would be scared.
  7. 7. (3 points) If Daedalus never left Crete and tried to fly away, Icarus would’ve never died. Proof of this is when it said that he never attempted to fly again. He was so sad that he never did it again, I think that he never flew again because he thought it was his fault, his doing that made him want to fly away and if he never tried to do that Icarus would’ve never died.
  8. 8. (6 points) Somethings that the greeks valued is respect your elders. An example of this is in the Icarus story where Icarus didn’t listen to his father making him die. Another thing is the respect the gods and know your place. Phaethon didn’t know his place and wanted to prove he was better than everyone else so he tried to drive the sun chariot but that didn’t work.
  9. 9. (4 points) In the Icarus story the theme was to respect your elders. We know this because Icarus didn’t listen to his father then leading to his death. In the Phaethon story it would probably be respect the gods, and know your place. Phaethon kept wanting people to think that he is better than them than it went so far that he even wanted to do something some gods couldn’t even do, ride the sun chariot. He eventually failed and died.
