Well, they're an extremely authoritarian group that has as a core value submission to authority, first in religion, and then in their political group. How does such a group react to Putin? It depends on their interests of the group leaders. If the group's leaders are a faction non-aligned with Russia, then we get (5). We saw this from conservatives/the right from 1950-1990 in regards to the Soviet Union. The leaders were not aligned, gave their marching orders to the dutiful followers, and their entire group would work against Putin.

Once you corrupt their leaders -- this began in the USA at least by 2012, if not earlier, the leaders will tell the followers what reality is, and the followers will, just as in (6) do exactly as told even though they will have a much worse life under Putin.
