They're bad yes, but  they're still hitscan weapons which exist in Terraria
With a modified damage and god-like aim they can easily counter anything that's on a your screen by hitting every shot repeatedly

You can't modify damage on servers.
Most servers run off Tshock which blocks all modified attacks.
I've even tried myself.

It says you're doing the damage, but nothing happens to your opponent.
It's all client sided.
The most you can do is modify your critical strike chance.
