  1. [13:01] "..."
  2.
  3. There was an eerie silence travelling through their conversation, due to Yami's decision to not respond. Instead, his gaze spoke loud enough. Still, he would speak in only a matter of time.
  4.
  5. Before he speaks however, the Kurokaiyo grimaces strongly.
  6.
  7. "Got my word already. It'll better my miserable life, right? It's almost as if you don't trust me. Going through all these measures... You're a careful Captain. Impressive."
  8.
  9. Again. His hands moved out of his pockets, waving through the air.
  10.
  11. "You think I'm an idiot? I may be a Child, but I'm smart. It didn't take long for me to understand some of the platoons in this City.
  12.
  13. I'll begin with the two I know at the moment."
  14.
  15. Two fingers stick up.
  16.
  17. "Iron Reavers. And... Your Diamond Eagles."
  18. (Yami Kurokaiyo)
  19. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  20.
  21. [13:04] Terhune was impressed! To him they were all just blackhats.
  22. (Terhune)
  23. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  24.
  25. [13:04] The captain's head gradually nodded as Yami listed off half of the platoons currently stationed within the city. It made his life ever so more easier, a reply swiftly leaving his lips when the teenager stopped speaking.
  26.
  27. "Two more."
  28.
  29. "Misha's Authority. They police the citizens and serve as General Docro's person guard." A finger rose.
  30.
  31. And then the second came. "Volyn's Clockwork Hounds. They also police the city, but they are the military police. Focused on ensuring Barsburg customs are upheld."
  32.
  33. A short explanation, holding all the information required as he rose a hand to slightly adjust the cap atop his head.
  34.
  35. "Why would I trust you?"
  36.
  37. Blank, a stoic gaze locked onto the teenager.
  38. (Kirill pyr Orlov)
  39. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  40.
  41. [13:11] Within the stacks of old armor and weapons of the Malverius Company, which as far as he knew had no owner and yet was always filled with the very best items and half-market cost. It really was strange! Anyways, he was sitting there in his boxes counting the levitation potions he'd picked up when he started to eavesdrop on the Blackhat and someone whose name escaped him!
  42.
  43. Learning more and more about the various blackhats within the city. It really was a shame he'd never payed a lot of attention to them before. Even though he's got one of their hats with a gold buckle or was that one of the Authorities blackhats? It was hard to tell at times what the difference was.
  44.
  45. So Iron Reaver, Diamond Eagles, Clockwork Hounds, and Misha Police. Seemed a little silly to have two different police groups but they where never very good to be around regardless. So, the young Terhune wouldn't worry about it and would instead continue to absorb knowledge and look for more stuff to pick up off the ground.
  46. (Terhune)
  47. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  48.
  49. [13:15] The weaving of his hands comes to a sharp stop. This time, they do not fall back into their pockets. Instead, both limbs would dangle across the air, thereafter sitting in place besides his waist.
  50.
  51. "...Heh.", he mutters.
  52.
  53. "Ha...Hahahaah!!"
  54.
  55. Soon after, a sequence of laughter takes the Youth by storm, releasing every ounce of humour he could. So much so, a tear of joy ran down his right eye.
  56.
  57. "Damn right. You shouldn't trust me. I don't need you to either, Captain Kirill.
  58.
  59. However..."
  60.
  61. His tone completely changes. It gathers a much more stern tone to it, gesturing the Kurokaiyo to speak out once more.
  62.
  63. "That was a white lie. Everything has some truth in it, and a lie within it.
  64.
  65. Whether or not I'm a pitiful existence does not matter. You trust every member of your Platoon... - Don't you?"
  66. (Yami Kurokaiyo)
  67. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  68.
  69. [13:23] Bernard asks, "What is so interesting about this wagon that you are staring at it?"
  70. [13:24] The laughter halted any further words from the captain, an attentive, intrigued look locked upon the face of Yami as laughter continued to flow endlessly.
  71.
  72. Until finally he couldn't laugh any longer.
  73.
  74. "Are you done?"
  75.
  76. "Trust. I trust those within my platoon to uphold their efficiency and competency. You do not slack, you continue to train and improve yourselves. That's all I ask, and in return I will do my best to lead you, to be ahead of you when we move into combat."
  77.
  78. A pause. The seriousness that found its way into his tone relaying the truth of his words.
  79.
  80. "I trust those that have served beside me. If I didn't, we would not function well as a platoon. We would allow the beasts we hunt, the beasts we will hunt in the future to take advantage of such a weakness."
  81.
  82. "Demons, dragons, spirits, wraiths, spectres. All will be subjugated and properly tied to the chariot of the Empire. Either as resources to be dismantled from their corpses, or as hounds of war and beats of burden."
  83.
  84. Perhaps he spoke too much, but he was in a rather talkative mood as of late. The successful raid bolstering his mood greatly.
  85.
  86. "I went off track, but. I trust those in my platoon, correct."
  87.
  88. All cogs within the same Machine.
  89. (Kirill pyr Orlov)
  90. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  91.
  92. [13:31] "Agh, How stoic. Can't even show a shred of emotion, can you...?"
  93.
  94. A smirk writes itself across the Kurokaiyo's countenance, for the first ever time inside Osrona. Not much else could bring the youth to that much laughter.
  95.
  96. "You know what, Captain?"
  97.
  98. Yami stretches, folding his arms over one another patiently, carefully thinking of his next track of words.
  99.
  100. "You're special. I like you. You claim to be a cog within the machine, but truly, I feel as though you're more akin to the weel that other cogs empower.
  101.
  102. You gave me a goal, Captain. I'll earn your trust. Believe me, I will." he finishes, a smirk remaining on his face.
  103. (Yami Kurokaiyo)
  104. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  105.
  106. [13:40] Words he had heard before.
  107.
  108. The noble upbringing of the Orlov causing the compliments to flow past him, a nod of acceptance for at least his words as Yami stretched, more words for Kirill to listen to.
  109.
  110. "Oh?"
  111.
  112. A brief narrowing of lids.
  113.
  114. "Is this you personally requesting entry into my platoon, Corporal Yami?"
  115.
  116. The rank spoken without pause, a tilt of his head had long-blue locks drifting over the side of his cheeks, a slight quirk of his brow breaking the stoic mask.
  117. (Kirill pyr Orlov)
  118. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  119.
  120. [13:40] Bernard says, "Opa, hey Iuria."
  121. [13:46] "No. It's not a personal request to join your Platoon."
  122.
  123. Yami solemnly salutes, a fist pounded against his chest. The tiresome bags that had once been beneath his eyes would slowly fade, a more sincere expression written on his countenance.
  124.
  125. "It's a demand to join your Platoon."
  126.
  127. Perhaps stepping over his margin, the youth spoke with a pompous manner. He continues to stare forward, connecting his fist with his chest.
  128.
  129. "Up to you."
  130. (Yami Kurokaiyo)
  131. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  132.
  133. [13:53] Blank.
  134.
  135. The confidence form before by the teenager was mildly accepted, but the demand that spilled forth caused his lips to tighten, an expressionless look plastered on his face.
  136.
  137. "Denied."
  138.
  139. A single worded reply, a moment of pause to merely allow the response to sink in before he further clarified.
  140.
  141. "You do not demand things, Corporal. You request them, I do not know if you have an entitled background, but you're now a citizen of Barsburg. You're merely another face within the crowd."
  142.
  143. "You hold no accomplishments to our Empire. You're expendable until you've proven some measure of worth that isn't empty boasts that hold no weight."
  144.
  145. The salute was appreciated, but the overstep of authority, the pompous attitude from the Heir was clearly unacceptable for the Orlov to view as anything but an irritating approach.
  146. (Kirill pyr Orlov)
  147. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  148.
  149. [13:58] Leaned back into the boxes, those dull amber hues turning upwards towards the distant sky. It was dark but the clouds shifting across the moon stood out to him as clear as day. It'd been, what a few years before the Triumvirate fell apart? It all seemed to blend together to the youth. It'd been a long time since he heard his grandfather's stories of the days of the Petrakis rule, a golden age of prosperity and justice.
  150.
  151. Then their had been his mother telling him about the monsters of Myllenoris and the madness of the Witches, white and black. Then his older brother of the honor he felt serving the Triumverate finally free of the tyrants of old. Then finally he'd seen the collapse of his brothers dreams as the Authority into the iron grip of these cogs.
  152.
  153. The clouds seemed to dance across the moon in a swirling motion. The winds turning and churning the forces beyond. Setting into motion the next storm or perhaps should the winds choose to be cruel the next drought. Where did that leave him? Just a rolling leaf upon those winds?
  154.
  155. No, it was something else. More like a wheel rolling down the old broken roads of the cities ruin. It was grand ideas but really down the basics as he thought of them. He was just tired of feeling listless, powerless, in the fate of his city.
  156.
  157. Standing from the boxes and barrels of the Malverius trading company. The young boy walked out into the street. Dull amber gaze flicking between Kirill and Yami. Not wishing to interrupt and even as he stood there the fear of talking to the intimidating Blackhat almost caused the kid to rethink his goal.
  158.
  159. A gust of wind through the streets, swirling the trash and leaves along the road gave him the final peg of courage needed to solidify his will. Still, he waited and allowed the duo to finish. After-all he was making a big decision! As was- Oh, right Yami! Now he remembered who the other boy was.
  160.
  161. Finally! He'd step forwards and then his confidence shattered as what Kirill just told Yami settled in. Oh, that was a lot of build up to be met with a flat out denial. What hope did he have? "P-pardon me sir, not to interrupt but I'd like to ask some questions about joining the blac- Er, the machine. Well, I want to join but I don't know which one I should." As he spoke a hand came up to rub the back of his neck.
  162.
  163. "I mean which one would want me." It was easy to come to a choice to join something greater. Even for a child, after all everyone wants to belong. What was hard was knowing exactly what you'd even do once joining. After all, as far as he'd seen the Blackhats mostly stood around the city not getting paid.
  164. (Terhune)
  165. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  166.
  167. [14:01] The fist remains at his chest. It sits there, without much to say, other than...
  168.
  169. "Bothersome."
  170.
  171. It slowly unravels, a naked palm revealing itself. In a quick motion, it falls back down.
  172.
  173. Quietly, the youth mutters something.
  174.
  175. "Maintain control at all times, of your mind, your body, and of all who would oppose you."
  176.
  177. His eyes shut briefly. They soon open, revealing a set of genial hues.
  178.
  179. "You're right. I'm one to take too much risks, though. Else, what is the worth in pursuing a goal...?"
  180.
  181. A hand rubs his chin.
  182.
  183. "Fine. I request to join. Not demand."
  184.
  185. His pride is swallowed. Thereafter, he lays against the Cobblestone behind him, rolling an eye. Seemed Terhune wanted a go, now.
  186.
  187. "I wont interrupt. He wants to know about Platoons."
  188. (Yami Kurokaiyo)
  189. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  190.
  191. [14:10] Terhune's sudden intervention into the conversation caught the scrutiny of Kirill, the dirty looking child causing his cerulean gaze to move across their attire, the basket halting his sight.
  192.
  193. Yami was put on-hold, to be spoken with after the child had been properly addressed by the captain.
  194.
  195. "Do you work within the mines, or does someone close to you offer you a job in return for a small cut of the ores."
  196.
  197. A gloved hand gestured towards the basket within the hand of the child, the question about the machine had a momentarily blink of lids, a contemplative look spreading.
  198.
  199. Terhune's age a deterrent. But then he recalled the child that was a member of the second wave of troops.
  200.
  201. "It'll depend on the Captain, and if you show any worth. Perhaps R&D would offer you a spot within their ranks. But that would be up to Captain Yarrow."
  202.
  203. "I couldn't find a place for you within my ranks. Unless you were an artificer or alchemist that could offer us another supply of supplies for when we go on patrol and hunt."
  204.
  205. But then, he doubted the orphan before him even knew how to read, let alone learnt such crafts.
  206.
  207. "You're young. But, perhaps another will find a spot for you."
  208.
  209. A final few words, and then his attention was onto Yami. The lackadaisical position the teenager had taken causing his words to pierce through the surroundings.
  210.
  211. "Get up."
  212.
  213. "You'll be placed under my my command, Lieutenant Hoss."
  214.
  215. Kirill gestured towards Gallagher as he was mentioned.
  216.
  217. "Will be your direct line for myself. You'll report to him, and he'll report to me if you are unable to find me when I am around."
  218.
  219. One of the multiple soldiers that milled around was suddenly called out, a bark of orders following when the captain was registered within the sights of the man.
  220.
  221. A new uniform and cap foundfor the Kurokaiyo.
  222.
  223. "Wear it. And do not lose the cap, be presentable at all times. You're now within the military, officially. Do conduct yourself appropriately."
  224. (Kirill pyr Orlov)
  225. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  226.
  227. [14:13] Stavros says, "I fear tha day Trik picks up a scalpel."
  228. [14:13] Stavros flashes a wide smile towards Artemis.
  229. (Stavros)
  230. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  231.
  232. [14:14] Stavros says, "... Got 'notha 'un-- Ah, nevamind."
  233. [14:15] Stavros says, "I'm always where ya least expectin' me, pup."
  234. [14:15] Stavros says, "Always in tha corna of ya eye."
  235. [14:15] Stavros says, "Always watchin'."
  236. [14:16] Stavros snickers lightly.
  237. (Stavros)
  238. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  239.
  240. [14:17] Stavros presses his shoulder towards Artemis.
  241. (Stavros)
  242. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  243.
  244. [14:17] Stavros says, "... Y'know, I have a feelin' s'gonna hurt."
  245. [14:17] Stavros says, "But! Only 'un way ta find out."
  246. [14:17] The Barsburg life. Something that would take Yami quite a while to get used to, but surely within a matter of months, or perhaps even years, the Kurokaiyo would adapt. Both pupils observe the two conversing, and during this wait, he takes himself into thought, briefly.
  247.
  248. "Stepping over the line, Huh? Never step over the margin that is set, Yami. Punishment is due, if you do tha-"
  249. His thoughts are suddenly stopped. He is reeled back into reality by the Captain's words.
  250.
  251. At once, the Kurokaiyo ejects from his position, standing upright. He clutches both the uniform, and cap rather eagerly, but also with a gulp.
  252.
  253. "That was a slip up. I normally don't act like that. I was just curious to see how you'd react."
  254. (Yami Kurokaiyo)
  255. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  256.
  257. [14:18] Blackjack asks, "Hey guys, what uh. What's going on here?"
  258. [14:18] Stavros says, "... I mean for tha person bein' injected, not'chaself."
  259. [14:18] The first question was thankfully an easy one for Terhune to answer. After-all it was something he was used to doing! Mining, he'd done it for a few years now at-least it'd paid for food better than rat-catching. Then again the rats hadn't tasted /all/ that bad just kinda chewy and they made him sick sometimes.
  260.
  261. Oh right, answering. "No one close to me but I know some people who like to buy mithril." Which he did! It was good cause no one wanted to buy any other type of ore he offered. Well no one but the creepy merchant guy. As the youth pondered the response he let out a soft sigh.
  262.
  263. Something about Kirill's demeanor made him think joining that platoon would have been dangerous. It was nice to not be scared out of his wits after-all. Then there was the rest of the statement. Who was 'Yarrow'? All the blackhats looked alike to him due to the uniforms. Heck, he'd only known Kirill was important because of Yami'sconversation.
  264.
  265. "Um, what does Yarrow look like?" An easy enough question to answer but one that was critically important for any hope of the youth finding side person. "I'm neither of those things by the way." It was hard to become a skilled laborer without guidance after-all. He then took a few steps back and watched as Yami was no accepted. Offering a little clap for the other childs goal being fulfilled.
  266.
  267. It was nice to see!
  268. (Terhune)
  269. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  270.
  271. [14:18] Nero pyr Aertas asks, "Misha, are you going to stop someone from touching the demon's blood?"
  272. [14:19] Nero pyr Aertas says, "Oh, then he's got guts, saying that no one's touching his blood."
  273. [14:19] Sylvannas says, "I-"
  274. [14:19] Blackjack would try to see if there was some sort of collar Voraz would be wearing
  275. (Blackjack)
  276. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  277.
  278. [14:20] Blackjack asks, "Can someone fill me in on what uh...is going on?"
  279. [14:23] Yami Kurokaiyo says, "Another Cog in the Machine."
  280. [14:24] "Find a place to get changed."
  281.
  282. The attire properly passed over, cap and all he turned his sights away from the newly inducted member of the Eagles, and towards Terhune as the child responded to his questions.
  283.
  284. Yarrow.
  285.
  286. A short description of the woman left his lips, followed by a point towards Gallagher.
  287.
  288. "She's normally leaning against the wall there, wearing a hood. I am sure someone'll point her out for you if you ask later when there's a hooded woman standing around there."
  289.
  290. Kirill slowly spoke, the response of not being an artificer or alchemist gleamed over, it was expected after all.
  291.
  292. "Perhaps some of the R&D personnel will buy ores from you. Apologies, but I am going to be heading out for awhile."
  293.
  294. A final look towards Yami, some parting words before he truly departed after waiting for any replies.
  295.
  296. "Do not disappoint, Corporal Kurokaiyo."
  297. (Kirill pyr Orlov)
  298. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  299.
  300. [14:25] "Okidoki." With the answers given the young kid felt good about that exchange. He gave a nod and then wandered off towards the south to look at what looked like a big wolf that was talking...
  301.
  302. Oh boy.
  303. (Terhune)
  304. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
