Shishou keeps almost running out of money because she spends it all on stupid non-essentials. More than a few times you've walked into Garan no Dou to find Touko effectively starving herself to death because she simply can't afford to buy food and doesn't want to resort to stealing. Well, starving to death wouldn't actually kill your teacher, but you doubt it's a pleasant experience to go through. You wonder why she even created her puppet bodies with the ability to starve. It would've made way more sense for her to have not bothered with that function at all, if she were just going to avoid basic human needs because she decided to buy a magical toy for the fiftieth time. So you ended up taking up cooking and getting a kitchen installed in to building, to both prevent Touko from forgetting to eat and to improve your own skill when it comes to cooking. You were already at a fairly decent level thanks to your past life, but you wouldn't really have considered yourself a great cook, thanks to getting in some cooking practice nearly every day though, you soon reach a level where you could compete against Shirou and Rin when it comes to cooking.
