  ↝ xinxin was born in macau, china, to a whimsical pair who loved to travel. his parents had met in beijing at university, while studying art courses. naturally, they both really hit it off, and managed to create a stable relationship all throughout university, before getting married after they bother graduated. his father was a chinese man with a passion for painting, and was taking a degree in art. his mother, a korean immigrant, was more into the creative writing side of things, and took up a degree in writing and journalism. both of his parents had a love for travelling, and as soon as they finished school, and got married, they travelled all around china for their honeymoon, spending about six months just travelling and staying in different cities across their home country. not too long after, xinxin was born in macau, and both of his parents quickly began to spoil him, as their new son was now the most precious thing in their life. however, after xinxin turned three, his parents picked up their travelling habits again, and went back on another trip around china to introduce their son to all of their friends and family living across the country. growing up, even from a  young age, xinxin remembers travelling to different places across the globe, going to a new country almost every year. xinxin's probably travelled to most cities around the world, and has spent long periods of time in different countries, which is where he picked up basic knowledge of other languages (even though he struggled to learn them better than at a conversational level). due to this, he quickly grew to become interested in linguistics, even from a young age. manadarin was his mother tongue, as it was the language his parents would frequently talk to him in, but his mother also took to teaching him bits of korean, keen to expose xinxin to her own background. xinxin was homeschooled up until the age of ten, which allowed him to spend more time with his parents abroad, exploring different cultures and cities and landmarks.
  ↝ when xinxin was ten years old, his parents decided to move to korea, and packed up their stuff, moving to gangnam, his mother's hometown. xinxin struggled to adjust with the move at first, since his korean wasn't very good, as he only used it occasionally with his mother. he'd also been homeschooled for his entire life, and now he was being thrown into a school with other people around his age, and he wasn't really sue how to interact with them, since he was so used to just being around his parents. he began attending the local school, and was put with students much younger than himself, trying to teach him the basics, due to the language barrier that xinxin struggled to overcome. xinxin first showed an interest in becoming an idol after he came across a few kpop videos when he was twelve. up until that point, xinxin hadn't really thought about what he wanted to do with his life, and kind of just figured he'd go with the flow. however, that was when he became interested in joining an entertainment company, and he first brought it up with his parents, who hadn't really thought much into it at the time, just thinking it was just a phase and xinxin would get over it. however, a few months later, xinxin found out about an audition for sm entertainment, and begged his parents to let him go. and as xinxin was the most precious thing to them, they agreed, only because they wanted their son to be happy, and have a chance at achieving his dreams. xinxin went to the audition, and he didn't think he would pass. his singing wasn't exactly the best, and his dance skills were only mediocre, so he was rather disappointed and didn't have high hopes. but he was extremely surprised when he found out that they'd accepted him to become a trainee, and he quickly began trainee life under sm, before being introduced into the sm rookies program shortly afterwards. however, four years later, xinxin was officially dropped by the label, after they declared he was falling behind the other trainees in terms of his skills, and he was having too much trouble trying to balance school on top of his training sessions. this upset xinxin to no end, and he wasn't really sure what to do with himself after that, because he couldn't see himself being anything other than an idol. a few weeks after being dropped by sm, he was scouted by a casting agent from yg entertainment, who encouraged him to attend an audition. with hope of finding a way to achieve his dream, xinxin attended to audition, this time determined to try harder, and even going as far as to showcase his developing rapping skills, that he'd never had the chance to work on while under sm entertainment. he was later accepted into yg entertainment, and began his training under the company.

❝ MOVIE'S OVER ❞

— personality:
  ↝ xinxin can literally be summed up as a total cutie without even trying. he leaks of natural aegyo, and has the type of vibe that shows how innocent, and it makes most people want to shield him from the horrors of the world. he is extremely innocent, to the point where sexual jokes of any kind just fly straight over his head, and he will miss the double meaning completely and carry on with the conversation not even registering that there was a double meaning in the first place. however, xinxin takes a complete 180° turn from his normal personality. his stage presence is no joke, and people have trouble believing that it's the same person, and wonder if he's got a split personality. when on stage, xinxin doesn't hold back, rapping swiftly and quickly. however, as soon as the music stops, he'll turn back to his normal self, and stand there with the stage lights glaring in his face and look at the audience wide-eyed as they clap and cheer for him. in reality, he's just a smol little bean when not performing, which differs from his hard core stage persona. off stage, he is very soft spoken, and rarely ever shouts. this isn't to say that he doesn't get angry like the other trainees, because he does, he just choosing to internalise his rage and take it out in a different way to some other people. he is very patient with other people, and has a longer patience than people give him credit for. it takes a lot to push xinxin past his limits, before he snaps and looses it completely. xinxin prefers to deal with his rage in ways other than screaming and yelling, and tends to cry it all out instead. xinxin is a crybaby, and all the other trainees know it. it doesn't take much to bring tears to his eyes, and he finds it the best way to deal with his emotions, as he always feels better after crying everything out. however, despite the fact that everyone knows he's a crybaby, very few trainees have actually seen him cry. xinxin will only cry in front of you if he really trusts you, as he prefers to keep his emotions to himself both because it makes him flustered when talking about it, and because he doesn't want to burden anyone else. he is also an extremely clingy person, and often referred to as KOALA in private by the other trainees, due to his tendency to just walk up to them and wrap himself around them and cling on for dear life, to the point where he may have to be surgically removed. he doesn't care that they're all competing for the limited spots in yg's new group, he just wants someone to cuddle with and cling onto. xinxin lives for skinship and just likes to be near other people instead of being left on his own. he is especially clingy to the other trainees who are close to his own age, or foreigners like him. xinxin also isn't as educated as some of the other trainees. that's not to say he's an idiot or anything, because xinxin is actually very street smary, and has a wide range of knowledge, especially when it comes to different cultures and languages. however, he isn't very book smart, and his mathematical and korean literacy skills are below average. because of this, he is known to ask a lot of questions, which sometimes makes him sound a lot stupider than her actually is, and he doesn't fully register what he's said until it's out of his mouth. he also tends to get flustered very easily and blushes a lot for no apparent reason. xinxin can also be a bit of a stress machine, and tends to get overly stressed about things he can't control. he feels anxious when he doesn't know what is going on, and when he's left out from important information or decisions. he has a lot on his plate, with balancing his trainee life and his school life (where his grades are barely at an average level, due to his lack of korean literacy skills, as most of his homeschooling had been done in mandarin), and it stresses him out more than he likes to admit. xinxin has an extremely short attention span that can be compared to that of a five year old's. he is known to get distracted very easily, and his mind tends to drift a lot from the task at hand, unless he's extremely interested in it. he cannot multitask to save his life, as he has trouble focusing on doing one thing at a time, let alone two.

  ↝ 각성 (AWAKENING) by RAP MONSTER - he wanted to showcase his rap, since he thought his rap skills were getting better, and he'd wanted to improve on them while training under sm, but they were keen to just keep him as a vocalist. figuring he didn't have anything to lose, xinxin went in there to showcase his rapping skills. and sure, he wasn't as good as he could've been, but they saw potential, and accepted him as a trainee.

— why did you audition?:
  ↝ he auditioned for sm entertainment because he thought becoming an idol would be an interesting career, and since they were holding auditions, he begged his parents to let him attend, even if he didn't have high hopes that he'd get in, because he wasn't the most musically talented person at the time.
  ↝ he auditioned for yg entertainment after being scouted after leaving sm entertainment. he didn't want to audition at first, but eventually decided he had nothing to lose and went along anyway, deciding to take a 180 degree turn and try out for rapping instead of vocals, even though he wasn't a trained rapper. somehow, he managed to pass the audition because the company decided he had potential, and he was cast into yg entertainment, where he's been training for just over 6 months.

— why did you leave your company?:
  ↝ xinxin was dropped by sm entertainment, when he began to fall behind some of the other trainees. he was still rather young and was having issues keeping up with everyone else, due to being stressed out over the intense training and school life, as his korean still wasn't very good. six months after leaving sm entertainment, he ended up at yg, after being scouted. at first, he did' want to become a trainee, as he didn't want to become a failure a second time, but with the break in between training, he came to the conclusion that he really enjoyed performing, and that he wanted to try and make it work, even if it meant finding some way of balancing school with his trainee life, and pushing himself twice as hard to learn korean faster.

— have they ever experienced abuse from trainers?:
  ↝ he never really received any major abuse or anything, mostly just a lot of criticism when he first began, as they kept trying to get him to improve his rapping skills. he hadn't had much training in rapper before joining yg, and he was determined to get his rapping skills up the standard that they expected from him, leading to him trying extremely hard to please them. he knew the trainers saw potential in him, and he was determined to prove them right and show they that he was capable of making it in the entertainment industry as a rapper.

— have they ever experienced abuse from other trainees?:
  ↝ again, he didn't really suffer anything major from the other trainees. they mostly gave him to cold shoulder for a bit when he first joined, because he was one of the youngest, and they were skeptical of him, especially after hearing that he'd come from sm entertainment, which was one of yg's major rivals in the entertainment industry. however, he was quick to become close with some of the younger trainees, and slowly began to adjust to the trainee life under yg.

— any other hardships as a trainee:
  ↝ his own confidence was something that he had to overcome, simply because he was still rather put off after being dropped from sm entertainment, which of course made him question his abilities as an entertainer. he also struggled a little bit with the language, because his korean wasn't up to the standard of a native, since throughout his life, his dominant language had been mandarin. while he did have fairly basic understanding of korean, and could understand it without problems, his vocabulary was rather small, and he often had troubles with pronunciation sometimes. he's now managed to over come this, and his pronunciation is now almost flawless, but he still has his times when he doubts himself and his abilities to get him through this show.

— biggest struggle as a trainee (talent wise):
  ↝ he had a lot of trouble with school. as he'd been homeschooled for his entire life before coming to korea, and had actually only attended school for two years before being thrown into the trainee life under sm. even though he had a good three and a half years of experience trying to find a balance between the two, he had still not managed to do it upon entering yg entertainment. he does tend to stress out a lot about school, but the fact that he's attending a performing arts school makes things slightly easier, because he knows this stuff is going to be helpful for his career, and he's not sitting in a classroom taking physics classes or something when he's never really going to need it. so trying to find the balance between training, sleeping, school and homework has been his biggest challenge.

— best moment as a trainee:
  ↝ when he was accepted into yg entertainment because they thought he had the potential to become a rapper with a little bit of training. xinxin was extremely happy, as he didn't think he'd be able to make it in the entertainment industry after being dropped by sm, but here was yg entertainment, offering him a contract and a second chance. he was so happy when he found out that he was accepted into the company that he cried happy tears for two hours straight

— why do they want to be on sabotage?:
  ↝ to be honest, xinxin is kind of skeptical about the whole show, and can't really decide whether or not he truly wants to be on sabotage. but he does want to debut, and knowing yg, winning a survival show is probably the best way to do it. sure, he'd prefer to debut through a less dramatic way than a survival show, but if it get's him a spot in hg's new group then it'll be worth it, right?

— who is their idol?: who do they look up to?
  ↝ he looks up to the rappers under yg (e.g G-DRAGON, TOP, MINO, BOBBY, HANBIN etc.), and he wants to become as successful as them one day, and produce his own rap music like they do.

  ↝ xinxin's ideal type is someone who isn't a pushover, and isn't afraid to stand up for themselves (mostly because xinxin can sometimes be a bit of a pushover, and figures this'll help balance him out a bit). his ideal type is also someone who doesn't mind his clinginess, because xinxin is likely to turn into a koala around the person, and always come and give them hugs. also someone who is close to his age, and is around the same height as him and will give him back hugs.
